TripleView™ Power Output Meter
The MC255 features the new TripleView™ Power Output Meter, which combines three traditional mechanical meters into a single, easy-to-read 15-inch wide display. This design provides real-time power readings for the front three channels, maintaining the classic McIntosh aesthetic while offering modern functionality. For distraction-free viewing, the signature blue meter lighting can be turned off during movie sessions.
Enhanced Power & Performance
Significant upgrades in the MC255 include a 50% increase in filter capacity, resulting in more than double the dynamic headroom—from 1.7dB to 3.6dB—crucial for delivering the dynamic range required in home theater systems. When driving the front left, center, and right channels, the amplifier delivers 250 watts per channel, a 25% increase from previous models. With all five channels in use, each receives a robust 200 watts per channel. Thanks to McIntosh's Dynamic Power Manager® (DPM) technology, this full power output is consistently delivered to both 4 and 8-ohm speakers, ensuring versatility and compatibility with a wide range of speaker systems.
Advanced Cooling & Quiet Operation
Equipped with four McIntosh Monogrammed Heatsinks™ connected to advanced high-current output transistors, the MC255 operates efficiently without the need for noisy cooling fans. This design ensures the amplifier remains cool and quiet, preventing any interference with your movie's soundtrack. Additionally, a specially wound toroidal isolation power transformer minimizes noise, contributing to a pristine audio experience.
User-Friendly Design & Eco-Friendly Features
The front panel of the MC255 now includes traditional McIntosh knobs for controlling meter lights and power functions, complemented by direct LED backlighting for improved color accuracy and durability. The amplifier also incorporates an eco-friendly power management system that automatically turns off the unit after a set period when no input signal is detected, promoting energy efficiency without compromising performance.
