Marantz HDAM Technology

Marantz developed its own discrete circuit boards to replace standard ICs. These HDAMs consist of discrete surface mount components with short mirror image L/R signal paths. These devices do exactly the same thing as the Op-Amps but outperform the regular IC Op-amps dramatically in terms of the Slew Rate and reduced noise level, resulting in a more dynamic, accurate, and detailed sound. In the CD6007, the proprietary HDAM-SA2 circuit improves on its previous HDAM module for a more stable power supply. The idling current stability is less influenced by power transistor temperatures to maintain sound performance even at the high-level output.

Reference Quality D/A Conversion

The CD6007 features a new Hi-Res D/A conversion. It is equipped with a reference class AK4490 D/A converter, offering two selectable filter options, and provides up to 192-kHz/24-bit and DSD 5.6MHz resolution for optimum musical fidelity with tight bass, pleasant mids, and smooth extended highs for CD playback and Hi-Res formats from a USB memory stick.

High Current Power Supply

The audio power supply employs high speed, high current Shottky Barrier Diodes, and new higher value current storage capacitors compared to the previous model. The size of the power supply capacitors has been increased by 120% for improved current stability and reduced AC noise during high demanding listening sessions.

High Slew Rate Op-amp + HDAM-SA2 Headphone Amplifier with Headphone Amp Gain Setting (Low/Mid/High)

The CD6007 offers an improved and redesigned headphone amplifier section. The CD6007 inherits the exclusive Marantz HDAM-SA2 circuit with three gain settings (Low/Mid/High) for a perfect match with almost any brand of headphones for an optimal solo listening experience. However, if you prefer, the headphone amp is also equipped with an “Off Circuit” function that automatically turns off the headphone amplifier when a headphone is not connected to the unit to avoid any unwanted interference or noise.

Plays Hi-Res Audio USB Sources

The CD6007 can playback MP3, WMA, AAC and WAV, FLAC HD, ALAC, AIFF (up to 192-kHz/24-bit), and DSD (up to 5.6-MHz) files from a connected USB storage device.

Digital Filter

The CD6007 introduces a new selectable digital filter option. This two-mode filter (Filter1/Filter2) allows the optimized reproduction of digital music content using the new AK4490 D/A converter to your taste. Filter 1 is a slow roll-off preset that improves deep stereo imaging while Filter 2 is a sharp roll-off filter for more precise imaging reproduction.

The Most Musical Sound

Engineered and extensively tuned by a team drawing on more than 65 years of Hi-Fi expertise, the CD6007 provides exceptional performance for your audio collection. Whether digital or analog, enjoy the most musical sound from any source.

Outstanding Unit
The CD6007 felt quality from the moment I open the box. Setup was a breeze after doing some research on whether using the RCA connection or the Fiber Optic port. I choose the RCA connection to take advantage of the DAC from the CD6007. Controls on the unit was straightforward and simple. When I inserted a music CD in the unit and pressed play, I was taken away on the sound I was hearing from the Marantz NR1200 and Klipsch RF-82 II speakers, I knew then I made a wise choice on this unit. Very pleased with my purchase.

Sturdy, and I like the USB bonus
I forgot how much a good CD player can improve the sound of my old CD's. Marantz does a great job at its price point. I had formerly had my system refurbished, but was using a Bose Wave radio for a few years (my Nakamichi OMS5 bit the dust years ago). So much better with the Marantz.

And the USB port is a nice bonus. I can easily hear my own compositions by copying to a thumb drive, albeit FAT 32.

Like so many other reviewers, I recommend the CD6007.

Finally came back
Like a previous review, I once owned a Marantz 2230 stereo receiver in the 70's and although I parted with it after many years, I never did find another brand that I liked as much. Fast forward to today and I decided delete all of the compressed music in my iTunes library and then rip only pre-recorded 16 bit CD's and create a new library. With many new tracks, I then burned all-new CD's to listen at home and in our vehicles. They are all 16 bit, 44.1 kHz, 1,411 bit rate and they sound much better, but I soon discovered that the budget CD player in our home was not the answer, while the rest of our system was higher end, that player was the weak link. I then started to research home CD players and after nearly two months, the answer led to the CD6007. Now that I have it connected, it actually sounds better than I anticipated. The sound through the system - I have it connected via analog - and the headphone amp is amazing. It took me a long time, but I came back to Marantz and I made the right choice.

Been a marantz fan since 1976......
My first HiFi system was anchored by a Marantz 2230 AM/FM receiver. A splendid unit that I kept several until I replaced with separates. This CD6007 (purchased from Safe & Sound Electronics) is excellent. People were complaining when the price went up $200 to $799, but to me this is as good as my old McIntosh unit and in some ways better. the adjustable filter and the chipset has me wondering why I waited until the Mac finally died to replace it. Look--I know with the resurgance of vinyl some people are abandoning CDs, but I personally think the medium can sound spacious, open and organic with the right kit. The CD6007 is the answer. As good as players twice the price. The build quality is superb too. 3 year warranty keeps you at ease and I expect this bit of kit to last several years and sound excellent all the way through. Great job Marantz for delivering audiophile sound at a reasonable price point. One final note: the full size headphone jack/amp built into the unit is nice when you don't want to fire up your entire system. Also, direct coupling of the headphones to the CD player reduces the noise ceiling. In a word: EXCELLENT !!

Stay Away
Broke after 2 years of light use. Doorstop now. The CD drawer cannot be opened by the remote, which it can be in other models. Sounded good until it died.

Poor Mids
There's poor midrange, flat and lifeless. Very disappointed for a CD player in this price range.

You can't go wrong with Marantz.
I Bought Marantz many years ago but dabbled in other brands since. Lately I bought the pm6007 amp I loved everything about it, it made my new rega 3 turntable sound like it it had come from heaven. As I had loads of flac albums on usb files played from my PlayStation I thought I need something better & guess what the new marantz cd6007 had been released with usb able to play all those files I collected plus my old cds came back out of the stored boxes. All of these little things Marantz had done re kindled my passion again for hifi. I am now going to stay loyal apart from my new speakers ( un-named but classy 5 star reviews on the way lol. Approaching an enjoyable retirement with happiness, well done Marantz I will never desert you again.

A MUST NEED CD PLAYER FOR PEOPLE!!!
Hello Marantz and Audiophiles of the world, my name is Aries and I got something to say about the Marantz CD6007 CD Player. IT IS BEAUTIFUL!!! :D I previously used my PS2 to play my CD's and connected to a TV to use the headphone output. I got tired of when my PS2 wouldn't play some of my CD's and I needed something WAAAAYYYYY BETTER. I knew at the time that Marantz is a major star in CD Player, SACD Player, etc... I originally was looking at a CD5004 CD Player on eBay but didn't go through with it but I saw the Marantz CD6007 CD Player I own on eBay for $702.54 (Including tax. It was a Open Box Item but the seller assured me that it was in absolute working order. I received it on Feb 12 this year. I was shocked just by looking at it. I thought the CD Player was gonna be a bit smaller but NOPE. It's built like an extreme audiophile tank and it is BIG!!! I then proceeded with much excitement to test it with several of my CD's (Including the CD's that the PS2 couldn't read) with the following Hi-Fi equipment: Audioquest PowerQuest 2 Power Conditioner, My Marantz CD6007 CD Player of course :3, AudioQuest Evergreen RCA Cables, AudioQuest 1/4" Headphone Adapter, Klipsch Reference-Over-Ear Headphones, and Klipsch The One II Loudspeaker but unfortunately I dropped the Klipsch The One II and it got damaged so I only use my headphones to listen to my CD Albums :(. But during the testing and present album listening sessions, the best way to describe the experience is. It was BEAUTIFUL!!! The price for this CD Player is NOT EXPENSIVE!!! It is VALUABLE. I believe that if something is expensive, it doesn't provide the quality that the price asks for like a $100,000 Mercedes Benz. If something is Valuable, it does provide the quality and beyond for what the item asks for price like my Marantz CD6007 CD Player :D To oversimplify how the CD Player brings magic for your ears. It brings everything out from the "CD Grooves" that needs to listened to. The detail, dynamics, clarity, NO-DISTORTION and loudness (Headphone Amp). It brings every single sound of the music exactly how it is supposed to sound. True To The Music. Thank you Marantz for giving me something I needed for a long time, a CD Player that will take me on a wonderful, musical journey. Thank you!!! :D
