With producer Steve Kravac at helm, the album leans into skate-pop punk more than any previous album. A polarizing release initially (some critics wrote about wanting more horns and "major label" sellouts). Punk news called the album "underrated." Though Canada's Chart Attack & Germanys' Rock Hard & Ox-Fanzine would disagree. As would UK's Downed in Sound giving the album a perfect 10/10 and writing "every song is so darn catchy" 25 years later, Borders and Boundaries is now is the band's best selling and most popular release. The 25th Anniversary edition includes five previously unreleased demos and new mix of "Is this Thing on?"
