My fourth Denon AVR. The AVR-X4700H is a beast.
I have been a Denon owner for years now. The Denon AVR-X4700H is absolutely out of this world. I love the 125 watts. Driving all SVS speakers and subwoofers. Along with atmos height speakers. My system has never sounded better. No one builds an AVR like Denon. I will always be a loyal customer of Denon products. Sincerely Mark

A lot of amp for the money
Overall, I am a happy with this amp. It is a replacement for my Denon 5308-CI amp. It does have some limitations which are expected at this price point. The sound quality is good. I like that It can output Spotify playback from different devices. The set-up of speakers is guided and was easy to set-up. I am not satisfied with the output levels the calibration is sending to subwoofers, but this can probably be adjusted in the amp or directly on the subwoofer. With the suggested settings, I can barely hear the subwoofers. I have dual JBL Fathom subwoofers and which seem crippled by the calibration. The power is sufficient, but I would have liked more power at this price point. The remote is typical of other manufactures. It's on the cheap side. The amp could use more sound processing options. For some reason I have issues with Spotify disconnecting, but it may be my wi-fi network location which is causing this. When it disconnects, the amp takes a long time to find re-establish and internet connection. Its nice that it has limited 8k support for future upgradeability. The warranty covers 3 years. Be sure to buy the 4 year warranty if you want to cover repairs. The 3 year extended warranty only adds accidental coverage.

Solid head unit!
Sounds Great! Setup was a Breeze. I have a mishmosh stereo with a DIY 15 inch sub, 20 year old Polk towers and 15 year old Bose Acoustimass satellites, It has improved the sound quality over my old Harmon Kardon head so unit so much that I am now going to upgrade the speakers. Probably going with SVS prime pinnacle 5.0 with a pb 3000. I feel like this head unit has much more to give. My living room has a very strange layout and the room correction really is borderline magical. I wish Denon made matching monoblocks for the mains, looks like I will go with Emotiva. This head unit has reawakened the audiophile in me that has been asleep for 15 years or so.

Great receiver so far. I have not fully set it up yet. A few of the on screen details are a little questionable , if you havent done this before, but overall, a pretty nice unit

Replaced AVR X3400 with X4700H
I wanted to replace my Denon AVR X3400 which i had for 5 years, as it came out in 2017. I was looking at the Denon X4700H then I saw the price drop to $1499. This told me the 4700H was being discontinued and being replaced by the upcoming X4800. The 4700H came out in 2020 but the $1499 price made me pull the trigger on the purchase and I’m happy I did. Great video upscaling to 4K on my new LG OLED G2 TV. Love the various audio options and love the Dolby Atmos surround sound when watching movies. Plus the 125 watts of power really makes a difference listening to the Cramps Goo Goo Muck from the Netflix series Wednesday in Rock Arena mode. Love this receiver!

Can’t even get a backlit remote for this price!!
Constantly having to re connect Bluetooth. Never auto connects. The main reason I purchased was to play music over Bluetooth.Remote is not backlit. Difficult to see in dark room. Should of stayed with Marantz. Identical menus for setup but quality remote with lcd screen and lights.

Bad remote. Sound performance is good though.
Setting up speakers was great compared to my last amp over 10 years ago. The instructions for the remote on the other hand are horrible. I need to operate three remotes to watch a movie. I cannot find help on using the remote.

Great Sound!!!
I've been looking for an AVR with 110 watts per channel and came across the Denon. I've always associated sound quality and value with the brand. The AVR-X4700H does not disappoint! The surround sound is pretty straightforward but once my speakers were properly calibrated the sound quality is outstanding. The Bluetooth option could be a more updated but it's will work. Great buy... Fantastic sound.

How is the Denon AVR-X4700H receiver different than the Denon AVR-X4500H receiver?
A shopper on Nov 15, 2020
Thanks for your question. The Denon X4700H incorporates a number of upgrades: 8K/60Hx and 4K/120Hz support, HDR10+ support, fully enabled eARC, and enhanced gaming features, to mention a few.
Are the models manufactured after may of 2021 thus implementing the fix for the 2.1 hdmi bug?
A shopper on Aug 26, 2021
Thanks for your inquiry. The AVR-X4700H in our inventory was acquired after the upgrade and are not applicable for the HDMI Adapter Kit. https://www.denon.com/en-us/hdmiadapter
What kind of DAC is in this SND is it a 32 or 64 bit? Ive looked twice and cant seem to find that info!
Thanks
A shopper on Nov 16, 2021
Thanks for your inquiry. The DAC Alpha Processing is 32 bit. More information at this link: https://support-uk.denon.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1226/~/alpha-processing-and-what-types-are-there
Can I use 3 zones independently and with different medias for each?
A shopper on Sep 17, 2021
Thanks for your inquiry. The AVR-X4700H is 3 zone capable. 3 zone simultaneous use is limited in regards to HDMI (video) sources. As comprehensive as the owners manual is, there are switching options that may be limited or not fully clarified. https://manuals.denon.com/AVRX4700H/NA/EN/GFNFSYghukzrll.php Denon tech support is a terrific resource when setting up and configuring the X4700H for maximum multi-zone operation: https://support.denon.com/
HDMI 2.1?
A shopper on Jul 25, 2021
Thanks for your inquiry. Denon specifications do not state HDMI version. Specifications do state that two of the HDMI inputs are 8K Capable.
Hi. Is this receiver comparable to the 125W/X9 as the Marantz SR7013? Will it play CDs in a surround (more than the 2 main fronts) sound? Is the BLUTOOTH adaptable to/from music on my iPhone to play through the speakers? I am obviously looking for the best video components I can get but am mainly concerned WITH THE SOUND..and the Marantz seems to have better reviews. (And then, of course, Im told that the Yamaha Aventage series are BEST for sound with my Klipsch speakersIDK! ALOT OF CONFUSEMENT here, but I just want to get it right the first time, as my SonyESV333 is over 20 years old and has no hdmi inputs, and you know I NEED THAT! Im looking to purchase at least by September, but will pull the trigger anytime on a great deal!!
Thank You in advance!
Al
Thanks!!

Thanks for your inquiry. The Marantz units are generally favored for their sound quality when playing music. Denon and Marantz both feature multiple surround modes or pure stereo 2 channel when playing music. One challenge is that Yamaha, Marantz, and Denon may have product manufacturing delays and cannot provide an estimated ship date when we will have them back in stock. Check back with us periodically for any availability updates. Thanks for your interest.
