So far, so great.
While I've only had this receiver hooked up for a few days, I'd have to say my first impressions are entirely favorable. I look forward to getting better acquainted with it in the near future. As it's replacing a 12 year old Yamaha, there are many bells and whistles I'd never even heard of. But I'm getting there. ;)

DON'T BUY
I have had this recover since January 2021 and it has never worked correctly. The audio keeps cutting out. The Geek Squad has been up four times to fix it and all four timers, the issue happens again after a short period of time. I have requested that Best Buy switch it out to a more reliable receiver but predictably, they have my money and thus, their obligation needs there. I tried to troubleshoot own the Denon web site but unfortunately, I am not an engineer. Thus, I am left with an $1800 piece of junk. DO NOT BUY UNTIL THE ENGINEERS AT DENON start beta testing their products on real life people. Terrible.

My second and best Denon receiver
This is my second Denon AVR. My first, the 2301 I bought open box and it was still going strong after 11 years. I wanted a new setup when we moved into our new home in June, 2021. This AVR4700 is awesome. I had the geek squad set it up and the guys were in awe of it even though they do this stuff all the time. It sounds great. I am using it with my 28 year old Klipsch Forte II's. It also powers my new Fluance RT-85 Turntable, Teac CD player, LG 4K DVD player and 65" LG TV. The receiver drives 7 speakers in my living room; the Forte's, a Klipsch Center Channel and 4 Klipsch ceiling speakers in zone 1, and two speakers in zone 2 on the patio ceiling. I really enjoy the flexibility, and the sound of this unit and my system. Thanks Denon!

Only running a two channel setup so far.
I'm building my system piece by piece. So right now, I'm only running a 2 channel setup (two SVS Ultra Towers and a subwoofer. I'm still learning and fine tuning everything, but so far so good.

Outstanding Support, Incredible Sound
Denon stands behind their products. My AVR-X4500H HDMI failed and Denon replaced it with the AVR-X4700H. Easy to set up my 9.2.4 Klipsch system and provides complete and extreme emersion. Set up, Manual, SMALL speakers so that you can manually set the crossover frequency. THIS makes a huge difference.

Best receiver that I have used.
Bought this receiver after my Onkyo went out of service. So much better than my previous receivers with lots of power delivered to the 7.1 speakers!

Best Receiver I've owned to date.
Coming from the Denon 4520 I didn't think I would like the 4700 that much since its not the recommended replacement. Boy was I wrong, This is a great receiver, sound is very detailed.

How is the Denon AVR-X4700H receiver different than the Denon AVR-X4500H receiver?
A shopper on Nov 15, 2020
Thanks for your question. The Denon X4700H incorporates a number of upgrades: 8K/60Hx and 4K/120Hz support, HDR10+ support, fully enabled eARC, and enhanced gaming features, to mention a few.
What kind of DAC is in this SND is it a 32 or 64 bit? Ive looked twice and cant seem to find that info!
Thanks
A shopper on Nov 16, 2021
Thanks for your inquiry. The DAC Alpha Processing is 32 bit. More information at this link: https://support-uk.denon.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1226/~/alpha-processing-and-what-types-are-there
Can I use 3 zones independently and with different medias for each?
A shopper on Sep 17, 2021
Thanks for your inquiry. The AVR-X4700H is 3 zone capable. 3 zone simultaneous use is limited in regards to HDMI (video) sources. As comprehensive as the owners manual is, there are switching options that may be limited or not fully clarified. https://manuals.denon.com/AVRX4700H/NA/EN/GFNFSYghukzrll.php Denon tech support is a terrific resource when setting up and configuring the X4700H for maximum multi-zone operation: https://support.denon.com/
Are the models manufactured after may of 2021 thus implementing the fix for the 2.1 hdmi bug?
A shopper on Aug 26, 2021
Thanks for your inquiry. The AVR-X4700H in our inventory was acquired after the upgrade and are not applicable for the HDMI Adapter Kit. https://www.denon.com/en-us/hdmiadapter
HDMI 2.1?
A shopper on Jul 25, 2021
Thanks for your inquiry. Denon specifications do not state HDMI version. Specifications do state that two of the HDMI inputs are 8K Capable.
Hi. Is this receiver comparable to the 125W/X9 as the Marantz SR7013? Will it play CDs in a surround (more than the 2 main fronts) sound? Is the BLUTOOTH adaptable to/from music on my iPhone to play through the speakers? I am obviously looking for the best video components I can get but am mainly concerned WITH THE SOUND..and the Marantz seems to have better reviews. (And then, of course, Im told that the Yamaha Aventage series are BEST for sound with my Klipsch speakersIDK! ALOT OF CONFUSEMENT here, but I just want to get it right the first time, as my SonyESV333 is over 20 years old and has no hdmi inputs, and you know I NEED THAT! Im looking to purchase at least by September, but will pull the trigger anytime on a great deal!!
Thank You in advance!
Al
Thanks!!

Thanks for your inquiry. The Marantz units are generally favored for their sound quality when playing music. Denon and Marantz both feature multiple surround modes or pure stereo 2 channel when playing music. One challenge is that Yamaha, Marantz, and Denon may have product manufacturing delays and cannot provide an estimated ship date when we will have them back in stock. Check back with us periodically for any availability updates. Thanks for your interest.
