Great Sound, horrible mic
i purchased these for dual purpose use, gaming and work. The audio quality is great and they are very lightweight and comfortable, but i often get complaints from people at work about the microphone being very quiet, despite the audio being turned up to max.

Pretty good, little to no sound cancellation
I've always liked AudioTechnica. All of their products are high quality and durable. However, I chose this closed ear design thinking there would be a bit more sound cancellation, only to be disappointed. I can hear everything going on around me pretty crystal clear. Might be on me for not looking into it a bit more, though.

Stands Above The Competition
Two years of use so far and I'm still in love! I game for 40-50 hours a week and I never feel discomfort.
The best sound quality, build quality and comfort at this price range. The competition isn't even close!
I wont point fingers but I've tested a few of my friends "popular brand" gaming headsets over the last two years and they are awful compared to the ATH-G1. After having these I don't know how I could play games without them and that's why I'm here to buy my second pair.

Now, the only problem I've had with the ATH-G1 is the in line volume control. After 2 years its starting to cause a high pitch noise in my left ear when it gets brushed against my desk while gaming. This wouldn't be a huge issue because Audio technica would cover this defect if I had a warranty but I didn't get one at purchase because I didn't know id love this headset so much!

Buy the ATH-G1 , get the warranty and enjoy the best gaming headset under 200$ on the market.

The best headphones below 400€
Plug-in and play; worked on the first try. The sound is great - strong and deep bass with clear mids and highs.

Microphone quality is far above average compared to similar products and very easy to plug-in when needed and remove when not needed. Plugging the microphone in & out multiple times per day for over a year has not degraded the port even slightly

They are extremely comfortable - outer "ear-pads" are leather for style and the parts actually touching your skin are soft fabric with padding. Wearing them for hours (while working/studying/listening to music) makes you completely forget you are wearing them. Sound cancellation/isolation is very good while still breathing (no sweaty ears after prolonged use).

Customer service is very responsive and helpful. Highly recommended for anyone looking for headphones with a microphone. If you do not need a microphone I would recommend ATH-M50X ones.

Great Sound and Mic
Well balanced audio, often can hear things that other players miss. Only thing I don't like is they are uncomforable with glasses, other than that they are perfect, love the design too. Very lightweight and do not overheat your ears.

Studio Quality, Super Comfortable/Light, Awesome Value
Not everybody will like the tuning! If you want generic consumer/audiophile tuning you should consider the M50X or MSR7B. These are essentially the same tuning as the M70X, except they are bass boosted.
If you've never used flat studio tuned headphones before, you will find them weird, maybe even feel they are bad at first, but the reason they chose the M70X as a base is you can hear absolutely everything. In gaming you will hear footsteps and subtle noises you couldn't notice before with good clarity, the increased bass exists to make them sound less flat without taking away that clarity, to decent success.
However, the clarity is what can make these sound "bad". Devices using loudness normalisation you may be able to make out the boosted noise and artefacts (Keep volume at 50% and instead use the headset's built in control). Devices upscaling to above 16-bit 48000hz (eg: to 24-bit+ or 96000hz+) you may notice a reduction in quality.
Consumer friendly options like the M50X will take anything and make it "sound nice", but the M70X will instead give you clear raw true output but you also get to hear any accumulation of flaws and misconfigurations in processing the audio and the original recording.
The ATH-G1 is definitely the M70X but with bass, lighter, cheaper, more comfortable, and includes a very good broadcast quality directional microphone. Competitive gamers looking for an advantage: these are the best headphones you can buy for the price. Those comfortable tweaking audio settings that have considered the flat studio style M70X, these are better value and can sound nicer. For others, these headphones can simply be "too good", don't "smooth out" poor audio output, and simply take getting used to.
The only flaw is the volume control messes with the quality/tuning when set max or really low, but easily avoidable and could be a one off fault.
For the price this is the best headset some will ever buy, for some it can be the worst, but at least now you know why!

My favorite headset ever
This is the best gaming headset I've ever owned. As a huge fan of the Hyper X cloud 2's, and the ATH-m50x's. when both of those headsets eventually broke I got these. Best headphone purchase I think I've ever made. I've been using these for over 2 years now for all of my personal audio needs and have still had absolutely no problems with them, the cable is super durable, they're lightweight so I don't get uncomfortable, and they double as fantastic music listening headphones without looking like some weirdo wearing a random gaming headset in public.
