Project Profile: Montgomery County, PA

A Bowers and Wilkins 700 Series Surround Sound System

The Project

Proving that a small space doesn't limit our ability to design and deliver WOW—this powerful Bowers & Wilkins 700 series surround system brings movies, concerts, and room-rumbling action to an awesome family in Montgomery County, PA. With Marantz delivering the power, and SVS bringing the bass, this 7.2 channel home theater packs a punch. This upgraded home entertainment experience for our clients multitasks as a brilliant home cinema space for movie-watching and an amazing audio system for listening to music. We designed and installed a powerhouse system that combatted the challenges often experienced from an open-concept living room. With tall, vaulted ceilings and a main seating area with a bright window behind it, we engineered a system that could handle a lot of sound in a small space and reduce unwanted acoustic interference and glare. The result is a high-performance multi-use entertaining space with knock-your-socks-off equipment that also enhances the living room look and feel.

The Bowers & Wilkins' 702-series speakers are the star of the show as the primary front left and right speakers, paired with the matching HTM 71 center speaker and a pair of in-ceiling CCM7.5 and in-wall CWM7.5 speakers. The in-ceiling speakers work well on vaulted ceiling as they can be angled to aim in almost any direction. The in-wall speakers flank the window behind the couch as surround left and right speakers.

Two SVS SB-2000 Pro 550 Watt DSP Controlled 12" Sealed Subwoofers help even out the bass across a wider area to expand "the sweet spot", which is important with a open concept room layout like this.

The system is powered off of a Marantz SR7015 9.2-Channel 8K Ultra HD AV Receiver with Amazon Alexa and HEOS built-in. The Marantz home theater receiver has enough "juice" to power the speakers with plenty of ability to expand for the addition of external amps for any speakers down the road if needed.

Sony's 65-inch Master Series A90J OLED provides a superior picture with an incredible contrast ratio and perfect black levels. The entire system brings together multiple brands and technology with efficient control led by a Universal Remote with Total Control.

This system looks as good as it sounds, with all components tucked neatly away into a floating wall-mount Salamander Chameleon Collection Chicago Cabinet. This cabinet is designed and built for speaker integration, offering enhanced sonic performance by isolating the AV components from vibration and an open architecture that allows for optimal venting and cable management. The black glass top pairs beautifully with the high gloss piano black finish of the Bowers & Wilkins 702 towers speakers and the SVS SB-2000 Pro subwoofer. Under cabinet lighting adds pop and ambience.

Motorized Hunter Douglas shades controlled via an app were key to getting every last drop of performance out of this system, adding a level of acoustic dampening while blocking out the ambient light.
