If you’re a gamer (casual or more), TV technology hasn’t gotten so darned good for your favorite pastime. LG recently introduced a fantastic option if you’re in the market for a new monitor/TV: The OLED42C5. This LG is a compact display that delivers an elite gaming experience, proving that big performance can come in a smaller package. Designed with gamers in mind — whether you're on a next-gen console or a high-powered gaming PC — the OLED42C5 combines lightning-fast response times, vivid visuals, and advanced features that make every session more immersive. And it comes in a TON of different sizes, too: 48”, 55”, 65”, 77”, 83”! Maybe you can see why this TV was voted as “Best TV for Gaming”?
The secret behind the performance of the C5 is LG’s OLED evo technology, which produces brilliant picture quality with self-lit pixels. Each pixel turns on and off independently, resulting in perfect blacks, infinite contrast, and vibrant colors that make in-game environments come alive. Whether you’re exploring moody, shadow-filled landscapes or neon-lit futuristic cities, the picture clarity and depth are jaw-dropping.
For console gamers, this TV is ready for anything. It supports 4K at 120Hz across all four HDMI 2.1 ports, so you can take full advantage of the high frame rates and visual fidelity offered by the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Features like Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), and Dolby Vision Gaming ensure smooth, responsive gameplay without tearing or lag — all optimized automatically when a console is connected. You also get G-SYNC and FreeSync Premium support, making it a solid choice for gamers who value flexibility and precision.
PC gamers will especially love the OLED42C5. Its compact 42” size makes it perfect for desk setups or multi-monitor rigs, while its 144Hz refresh rate support offers an edge in fast-paced competitive gaming. Input lag is impressively low, and the instantaneous pixel response means motion blur is virtually non-existent — ideal for shooters, racing games, or esports.
Beyond raw performance, the C5 includes LG’s Game Optimizer menu, giving you real-time access to adjust visuals, latency, and audio based on your game genre or personal preference. It’s intuitive, fast, and genuinely useful for tailoring the experience on the fly.
With support for HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision, plus wide color gamut and OLED’s trademark contrast, this TV doesn’t just perform — it looks amazing doing it. Whether you're gaming in a dim room or a well-lit office, the picture remains punchy and immersive.
LG’s OLED42C5 is the perfect fusion of compact size and uncompromising performance. It’s the go-to OLED gaming display for players who want speed, clarity, and next-gen features without needing a giant screen. Let’s not forget, however, that it would make a killer display for streaming your favorite HBO series or bingeing Netflix’s latest craze, too.

- Compact size for placement on desks

I own a LG OLED TV C1 for about 2 years and it still work like it’s new. I also agree with the top comment. Plus when ever I go to the Best Buy in my area the return TV’s are mostly the SONY BRAVIA? You cannot go wrong with the LG OLED TV’s. I love minds and I’m getting ready to upgrade to a larger size.

Sony is an excellent TV but only has 2 2.1 HDMI ports which is not ideal if you have more than one gaming system and is expensive.
Samsung tvs are not better than LG Oled tvs as they have been known to have to many adverts and are not future proof as Samsung does not support Dolby vision. This important as the major plaforms/apps use it.
The best all round tv and money for your buck is the LG OLED TV. I have the LG C1 55 which is the WBE model and therefore boosts the EVO panel. The LG C1 also includes Black Frame insertion which LG did not include in both the C2 and C3.
Very informative and Ive already put my order in for a LG 77" B3
