Consider the Yamaha R-S202 Stereo Receiver with Bluetooth. It’s Yamaha’s best pure stereo receiver, and they didn’t skimp on any of the details. Yamaha R-S202 Bluetooth

What’s in a Name?

Ever notice that so many rockers’ instruments are made by Yamaha? This is no coincidence. Specializing in providing professional-grade audio for generations, Yamaha makes some of the best instruments and sound systems on the planet. Add to the R-S202 to a great set of speakers and put some of that experience to work in your own stereo setup or home theater.

One House. One Receiver.

Have you ever wanted to enjoy your favorite music in more than one room? The R-S202 is equipped with connections for two speaker systems. Easily run a second set of speakers to a different room and enjoy being able to have your music follow you from room to room.

Speaker Connections

Yamaha’s Best Amp Yet

At its core, your receiver is powered by an amp -- a wonder of modern electronics engineering, converting a small input circuit to a much larger output one, rather like a highly miniaturized transformer. Experience best-in-class Yamaha sound technology with 100 watts of pure sonic goodness and a reduced signal-noise ratio, courtesy of the R-S202’s superior internal design.

Make Your Music Loud --  Or Soft

Looking for greater control over your signal? With its new continuously variable loudness control, the R-S202 allows you to manually control your music’s balance of high and low frequencies. By compensating for natural loss in the human ear, especially at soft levels, this control gives you full control over your music’s tonal range -- at any volume level.

Automate Your Home Stereo

Tired of starting a track and not hearing anything -- only to realize you never turned your home stereo on? Make that a thing of the past with the R-S202’s Auto Standby feature. The receiver automatically turns itself off after a period of inactivity -- and more importantly, turn themselves right back on again once audio is fed to them.

Understated Minimalism

Experience the cleanly minimalist beauty of Yamaha hi-fi design with with the R-S202. Its easy-to-operate, richly-textured, aluminum front panel with a silver hairline finish contrasts elegantly with the cool, black body. Plus, this care and attention to detail is also showcased on the included remote. Intuitive operation is at your fingertips.

I have 2 Yamaha R-S202 receivers and recommend this unit
I have one R-S202 in my house and another in my garage. I listen to music while I work, and this stereo meets my needs. With Bluetooth I can stream content from my phone. The remote control allows me to mount the garage unit out of harms way and still access its features.

Excellent sound at a very good price
I haven't owned a system that sounds this good since my old KLH Model 11 gave up the ghost many moons ago. I've hooked up this receiver to a used Yamaha CDC-675 and my spouse's old Technics turntable. The receiver was easy to setup and connect to all the other equipment. Its controls are well-placed and the remote is easy to operate. The unit's size is a good fit for our bookshelves. I have no complaints.

Top of the line products, always satisfied!
I need to listen to music daily. I sing along to Motown, Billie Eilish, Pretenders and 50s-80s rock bands. Sometimes I will sing while shopping in a store. It keeps me smiling.... Wet Willie said that!!!

Is there a way to override the auto shutoff?
Brett H on Jul 23, 2018
Page 12 of the users manual covers use of the Sleep Timer.
Can you hook up the TV to this receiver?
A shopper on May 1, 2018
As this is a stereo receiver and not an audio/video surround sound receiver, the audio from your TV can be connected to this receiver but not the video.
Can outdoor Bluetooth speakers connect to this receiver?
A shopper on Jan 7, 2020
Thank you for your question. The Yamaha R-S202 will receive Bluetooth streaming from your hand held device and play through the receiver and its connected speakers. It is not capable of streaming to wireless Bluetooth speakers.
My unit will not turn on and I've only owned it for 4 months what can I do?
Scott A on Jan 19, 2019
Thanks for your inquiry! As an authorized dealer, all our products are covered by a manufacturer's warranty. Your unit is still covered by Yamaha, so we recommend contacting them to begin a manufacturer's warranty claim.
I have a pair of speakers with nominal impedance of 5.6. Would this be good for powering them if I wire them in series?
A shopper on Jul 30, 2023
Thanks for your inquiry. The R-S202 minimum speaker impedance is 8 ohms. If your 5.6 ohm speakers are wired in series and connected to a single channel the combined impedance is 11.2 ohms but the output would not be stereo but rather just left or just right channel. It would be far better to upgrade your speakers to a pair of 8 ohm rated speakers.

What ohm speakers would use with this amp?
A shopper on Dec 18, 2022
Thanks for your inquiry. 8 ohm speakers are recommended. A second pair of 8 ohm speakers my be safely connected to the speaker B terminals. A pair of 8 ohm and pair of 4 ohm speakers cannot be played simultaneously.

I just want to connect it to a marantz pm6006 and use it as a straight up tuner...what about it? y/n
A shopper on Jul 9, 2020
Thanks for your question. The Yamaha R-S202 has a single pair of line outs that could connect to the Marantz Tuner inputs.
is this receiver Turntable compatible?
A shopper on Jul 4, 2020
Thanks for your question. The Yamaha R-S202 is turntable compatible but requires a turntable with a built-in phono pre-amplifier. For use with an older or legacy turntable a stand-alone phono pre-amp is necessary.
Can I connect a 5 disc cd player instead of a turntable?
A shopper on Nov 19, 2018
The R-S202 has a CD input.
What is the optimum watt and ohm speaker to use with this receiver?
A shopper on Aug 30, 2018
The R-S202 is compatible with 4 Ohm nominal impedance speakers, although 6 or 8 Ohm load would be preferable. Power handling of the speaker is not important for the receiver, but you should make sure that the output of the receiver falls within the speaker's recommended range.
Does it have a phono input?
A shopper on Dec 29, 2017
This receiver does not have a phono input. If your turntable has a built in phono-preamp, you will still be able to connect.
Can I change the Bluetooth connection name? Would
Like to have something more personal and shorter in length. Thanks
A shopper on Dec 16, 2017
The users manual will refer to whether this is possible.
Can I wire 4 fisher 15 inch tower speakers ( 2 per channel) to it?
Taylor B on Nov 28, 2017
Thanks for your inquiry! We do not recommend connecting speakers like that, as it can be very very dangerous to the amplifier. When you connect two speakers to one set of taps, you will half the resistance. Your 8 ohm speakers will bridge together, and create a 4 ohm resistance, and this receiver cannot handle a 4 ohm current. As an alternative, I would recommend the Onkyo TX-8220.
Does this have fm radio?
A shopper on Nov 14, 2017
It does have FM built in.
