Superior Tweeter Technologies

Traditionally, coaxial speakers aren’t known for great imaging. If you’re not exactly sure of what imaging is, a quick explanation would tell you that it’s being able to close your eyes while listening to music and being able to point out where the musicians are standing based on where that instrument or voice appears to be coming from. Because coaxial speakers are typically stashed down at the bottom of doors, it’s difficult to achieve accurate imaging because everything is so low. Focal’s solution to this is twofold: first, they employ an inverted dome tweeter that disperses the high frequencies in a wider pattern so you get to hear more of the nuances in the music. Second, they have the tweeters sitting in an angled mount on a pole piece that can be rotated to direct the high frequencies towards your ears instead of firing into the side of your leg. Since you’ll be able to hear more of the music, it’s going to sound richer, fuller, and more enjoyable.

The 100 AC speaker kit is unique for quite a few reasons, but one thing that sets it apart are the Dual Fiberglass Structure (DFS®) woofer cones. We all know that fiberglass is a very tough, but lightweight material), so it’s not surprising that Focal uses it to help create some solid bass performance. Keeping the woofer lightweight also reduces the amount of power required to adequately power the 100 AC system. Only up to 40 watts of continuous power is asked for to have these speakers sound their very best.
