Denon/Heos Wireless Amp HS2
Had this product wired into my new home in 2017. Encountered various connectivity issues over the past 5 years, which were resolved. Today, however, after chatting with a specialist and going through the reset process the unit was deemed worthless. Would not install/purchase this product again.

Compatible With Alexa
Very cool that there is a HEOS Alexa Skill so I can control my zones using Alexa. If only the Fire TV Stick home theater option could connect via WiFi that would be gold.

This is an very good streamer box and then some. It can only fully be operated by the HEOS app on a phone or tablet. Using the HEOS app, you can stream from all of the major streaming providers. I use Tidal. And I must say running Tidal in the HEOS app does a disservice to Tidal. But that is a drawback with the HEOS app and not the box. You can also stream to the box from your devices and servers. The box has line in, aux in, and optical in. It also has preamp out, coax out, and optical out. I have my CD player connected to the optical in and a Blu Ray analog output connected to the aux in. I have the preamp out connected to an equalizer which then connects to my amplifier. I use the box to listen to CDs, listen to Blu Ray audio output, listen to USB music, and stream from Tidal. For those activities, the HEOS Link box does fine.

HEOS Service is Down!
Service has been down for over a month and have called numerous times to resolve the issues to no avail. Error is the same "Failed to Connect to the HEOS Server." Support not able to resolve the issue which makes the device all but a paperweight!

Easy to use
After spending $1300 to get an Arcam streamer only to find that the app (Music Life) is very difficult to use and does not support Apple Music or Amazon. I got free trials of Qobuz and Tidal but found that trying to access a particular album was difficult. So, having HEOS on my Denon AVR I knew it was easy to use. The stand alone HEOS link works great.

Please fix link to Alexa
There must have been some recent update related to using Alexa voice commands to play Amazon music streaming on HEOS devices. I have a HEOS link and a 2600 AVR that use the Alexa link and they both stopped working at the same time. They are in separate locations so its not a network issue. It stopped working about 2 weeks ago.

Easy to use, streaming HD and Ultra HD
I bought the link to take advantage of Amazon HD (or Spotify HD when it becomes available.. Streaming has reached new heights with this technology with better than CD sound and imaging. Can’t wait to upgrade my 4100 to the new 4700 and relocate the old system to my sitting room…. Note: do not buy if you want Apple lossless because it only connects via Airplay which will not stream HD music.

NO CROSSFADE on any streaming service through HEOS
Every service has crossfade builtin(Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, iTunes, Mood Music, etc..) but if you try to do this through the native HEOS app it is not possible at all!!! Will not be using this in any of our properties again as no one wants to hear 3 seconds of silence between tracks.

Can I use this standalone in one room or do I need a central home theatre? Will the app work in single room mode?

The Link requires a stereo amplifier or receiver and a pair of speakers to play. The Heos AMP https://www.worldwidestereo.com/products/denon-heos-wireless-amplifier-for-multiroom-sound-system-series-2-black-heosamphs2r will connect to a pair of speakers and play on it's own. The app will work a single room.
