My vinyl obsession
Looking for a two channel receiver to feed my vinyl obsession. Using with a pair of Klipsch Reference Premiere RP-600M II. Plenty of power, BT to stream online music, intuitive remote & even an FM tuner. Fits my needs very well and sounds great!

First time buyer
I really do not know what to assume with receivers just yet. Being a 1st time buyer makes this tough. My experience with it was...awesome directions to get things up and running. I had no clue the plugs in the back for speakers had to have the middle plastic cap removed to insert the banana plugs, so that I saw in a you tube and was like...AH HA!. Otherwise, it hums a bit and makes noise when used. It isn't extremely special or over the top amazing, but it does a good job and I am glad to have this for now. I think I will upgrade in the future. Its not like I didn't do research, so I was aware this gives a nice warm sound, and I think it is as advertised.

High quality receiver
The new Cambridge receiver has great sound. The volume control is a little odd because the sound level shows in negative DBs which is counter-intuitive to what you would expect to see when adjusting the volume. As you increase the volume, the negative DB display shows lower numbers and as you decrease the volume level, the DB display shows higher numbers (of course with a negative sign in front: eg. -54).

Let's see if this receiver lasts as long as my last one which was a Mitsubishi R-11 from 1987!

First new stereo in 20 years
I love this unit. it is clear and powerful. I also bought the CD player, but I did not realize how much I was going to like the blue tooth feature. I'm verry happy with my purchase.

AXR100 FM/AM Stereo Receiver (Silver)
I hooked it up to my turntable, Audio-Technica 120XUSB, and the clean sound blew me away. My old receiver was a Pioneer SX-205 and was over 35 years old. I love the BT capability. If I am working and I don't want to be bothered changing albums or CD's, I can just put on Pandora. I also love the remote. I didn't think it would be that big of a deal, but it can really come in handy. The auto off function is also a plus. There are many times I leave my basement and forget that one of the components are still on. no worries now.

Great audio...ruined by a noisy fan!
This is a wonderful receiver...if you can tolerate fan noise. My family cannot. We had to exchange it for a slightly more expensive Yamaha receiver that has Wi-Fi, which sounds a lot better than Bluetooth.

It's a shame because we think the audio from the AXR100 that was coming out of our Klipsch RP600 speakers was detailed, engaging, and true. Unfortunately, the high-pitched fan crickets distract from all that excellent sound.

Alas!

As so many on-line and YouTube reviews have said, this integrated amp is an outstanding value, punches way, way above its price.

I already own an axr85 used in a bedroom. The 100 will fit my needs as far as preferred features, price, and simplicity of use compared to the literal computers that receivers have become. I prefer to listen to music than spending time tinkering with and trying to figure out the multiplicity of features found in 300 page manuals.<br /> The 85 has great sound, treating my phone records very well.

Did some research and found this Stereo Receiver the best on the market for the price.

Is this a good match for PSB Alpha T20 speakers?
Pankil R on Oct 18, 2020
Thanks for your question. The PSB Alpha T20 recommended power is 15-120 watts. The AXR100 will be a great match with the PSB Alpha T20.
The power rating is given at 80% power, what does that mean? Is it really 100 watts rms or lower around 60 to 80?
A shopper on May 5, 2020
Thanks for your question. Power ratings and THD (total harmonic distortion) ratings can be confusing. Power output rating is 100 watts into 8 ohms. Cambridge doesnt say both channels driven but we can assume both channels driven because thats the way quality companies like Cambridge realistically rate their amps. The THD is measured at 1KHz at 80% of rated power and also 20 to 20KHz at 80% of rated power. If rated at 100 watts the THD numbers would be marginally higher, but still within acceptable limits, well below 0.5%.
I have a perfectly functional H-K Citation 16 amplifier. Wanting to upgrade an outdated receiver; is it possible it can be used with the Cambridge AXR100, or is this impossible?
A shopper on Sep 4, 2023
Thanks for your inquiry. The Cambridge Audio AXR100 does not include a preamp output. Note that the Cambridge Audio CXA81 integrated amplifier does include pre outs.
I correct to understand that this unit includes an integrated amplifier? How does it connect to a serious XM radio receiver such as the onyx model?
Mike Z on May 12, 2022
Thanks for your question. The Cambridge Audio AXR100 receiver is an integrated amp and a tuner in one chassis. It has AUX inputs that should permit connection to an Onyx radio designed for home use. Check your Onyx owners manual.
comparing the Yamaha R-n803 and Cambridge AXR100, which one will produce higher fidelity sound quality when matched to my ESS AMT-10b loudspeakers? not a typo :-)
A shopper on Jan 12, 2022
Thanks for your great question. The Yamaha has a few features not found on the Cambridge. But for sonic excellence my nod is to the AXR100. You wont go wrong with either one though.
does the AxR100 receive the HD over the air stations?
A shopper on Jan 12, 2022
Thanks for your inquiry. The Cambridge Audio AXR100 does not have an HD FM tuner.
Which has the best sound quality between the Cambridge Audio AXR100 and the Denon DRA-800H? I need the power along with the sound quality?
A shopper on Oct 24, 2021
Thanks for your inquiry and a great question. Two robustly built receivers, both from companies known and respected for overall sound and build quality. A tough choice but, in our opinion, the AXR has the edge in sound quality. The DRA has the edge in operational layout and convenience.
I've heard terrific things about this receiver. So I have two questions for which I cannot find answers.
1) What kind of DAC is in there?
2) I've seen a little grumbling about audible fan noise at modest volumes. What IS the deal with the fan? Is it continuous? If not, when does it kick in? And...can any users or (World Wide Stereo advisors) comment on the audibility of said fan?

Thanks.
A shopper on Jun 29, 2021
Thanks for your inquiry. We contacted Cambridge Audio regarding your questions and concerns. Cambridge does not provide specs on the DAC in the AXR Series. Regarding the cooling fan. It runs most of the time unless the volume is low. It is thermostatically controlled. Audible fan noise, while very infrequent, occurs if the fan or its housing vibrates, and can be fixed tightened - by Cambridge Audio. They report that it is barely audible but may be audible in a very quiet room. In our demo room the fan is inaudible unless you are in very close proximity to it. The AXR100 is a fantastic sounding receiver.
Hi there can I use for Bose 901 series VI Plus EQ?
A shopper on Nov 21, 2019
The Cambridge AVX100 is rated at 100 Watts per channel. Bose recommends a power range of 10 450 watts per channel.
