The headset features specially tuned, large-diameter 45 mm drivers that bring studio-quality sound to every detail of a game’s virtual environment. And with its closed-back earcups and switchable 7.1 surround sound, the ATH-G1WL is designed to take you even deeper into the action.

Mute, volume, and surround sound controls are conveniently located on the rim of the earcup for easy access, and there’s even a selectable mic monitor function that lets you hear your own voice through the headset when desired.

The ATH-G1WL has an internal lithium polymer battery that provides approximately 15 hours of continuous use on a full charge. But if power runs low, you need only connect the headset to your computer with the included USB charging cable to go right on gaming. The headset’s strong, lightweight construction and breathable headband pad and earpads (which detach for easy replacement) will see you comfortably through the longest gaming sessions.

The ATH-G1WL comes with a USB Type-A wireless transceiver (that plugs into compatible Mac and Windows computers), spare earpads, and a windscreen.

Compatible with laptops, PCs, and Macs (High Sierra, Mojave) with USB Type-A connector.

Product life is short
My experience with this device began positive. Great audio and a fantastic microphone for a wireless headset. The product looks great and feels great. The only initial complaint was the micro-USB connection was fiddly to deal with. Over time the micro-USB connector becomes loose and won't stay in anymore. On top of this the faux leather components degrade and apart from the ear pads, are not replaceable. The real killer for this product is the headset battery that loses its ability to hold charge very quickly and it cannot be replaced. Neither can the faux leather headrest pad at the top of the headset which falls apart to expose the underlying foam pad. Do no expect more than 12-18 months out of this product. A huge disappointment for me having always thought a lot about Audio Technica. I do not recommend this product.

Connection stability issues with USB 3.0
These headphones are great. I use them for both work and play. The audio is flawless for games, the microphone is perfectly adequate for voice chat, and they can last a full 10-14 hours. When they work right, I can walk clear across the house and still maintain a steady connection.
However, they disconnect frequently when plugged into my computers front I/O USB ports, which is about 3 or 4 feet from my head.
When I reached out to support, they specifically told me that USB 3.0 interferes with the connection, and recommended plugging it into a USB 2.0 port or using a USB 2.0 extension cable.
This fixed the issue, however I find it quite odd that as new of a product as this is that is is not compatible with USB 3.0.
This was a gift, but for the price the giver paid, they should work out of the box on a (now) standard USB port.

Sadly, I can't reccomend
The headset itself was amazing and the sound was off the charts great. The problem was the quality of the construction was cheap plastic, it kept disconnecting constantly and the battery was a joke. 7 Hours of charge time is not even funny as a joke, then coupled with an insanely short use time. But the absolute worst thing is the inability for it to stay connected to my computer. No matter what I did or where I placed it, it could not hold a solid connection. After a week of this I just returned it for a refund. Can NOT recommend to anyone for anything until AT gets this disconnection problem fixed.

Would not buy again
The sound was great, and the mic worked well which I wasn't expecting. However, after 6 months their battery won't hold a charge. Even after charging them for a full day I put them on and constantly get the low battery beeping.

Love the headset sound quality. Hate the wireless connector
I don't like to review and Item too soon and these headphones are a good reason why. They have good sound quality. I love the light comfortable fit, I was please with the surround sound immersion that these headphones provided. The charging port is the micro usb and it does not hold up. I now have a useless pair of headphones, I tried different cable in case my cable was bad, it wasn't it was the connector at the headset. I started having the issue after about 9 months after purchase. I would recommend purchasing the wired version if you absolutely wanted Audio Technica. I have used a lot of Audio Technica products and was suprised to have something like this happen with one of their products.

No
I splurged on a new headset for my birthday and they were great for as long as they worked. Not even a month later and the headphone's wireless signal distance is cut in half. Instead of being able to make food and listen to my computer, I'm restricted to my room. Fair enough. Come now 3 months since purchase and now these headphones are disconnecting when my arm blocks the path to my computer 6 inches away. They disconnect constantly even when right next to the sensor. They are unreliable and not worth a fifth of the asking price because of it.

I've called customer support about this thrice now and have been asked to leave a message instead of someone answering and it's been 3 consecutive weeks and still no phone call back.

They're great when they work though.

Great sound and isolation, shame about the battery.
Was really happy with my third A-T headset, little too isolated for my preference even for gaming use.
Sadly, the battery durability and lack of USB-C type 2 connector are major let-downs on such an expensive set of cans.
This is the last gaming headset I will purchase without USB-C or a user replaceable battery.

big disappointment
I don't typically write reviews of products, but using this headset has become so unbelievably frustrating that I feel inclined to.

Pros:
- comfortable and compact
- decent noise supression
- good audio quality

Cons:
- frequent connectivity issues (comes in sporadic waves, will have around an hour of constant cutting in and out, then back to normal)
- microphone quality is subpar so I stopped using it shortly after buying
- micro usb port is awful, cables constantly just fall out on their on while charging
- the audio design of the hardware sounds is like nails on a chalkboard (low battery sound, microphone on/off sound) seriously it haunts me. It's the most upsetting part of my day when I get the sound telling me that I have to charge this sorry thing. It's loud, it's high pitched, it makes me feel like I'm being punished for something. And GOD FORBID I hear that sound while I'm having connectivity issues.

These cons may sound inconsequential, but when it's a product you're using EVERY day the little things make a huge difference. Don't waste your time with these. They'll just infuriate you.

Fantastic Headset with Fatal Flaw
After only a little over a week I am already returning this headset. I had just previously returned Logitech G700's in hopes that these would be better, as the Logitech's were weak wireless headphones. As soon as I started using these, they blew me away, fantastic audio, true to life sounds, fantastic bass, no latency. In other words, everything I wanted. But then, for the last several days to the point I am returning them, came the connectivity issues. I cannot get the headset to stay reliably steady, and I have tried everything to keep the receiver happy. I just cannot get along with how over it disconnects, which will happen for seconds at a time every few minutes. It will go through bouts were it is connately connecting and disconnecting, making carrying a conversation completely impossible, much less playing the games it is designed for when I cannot hear opponents on my flank. I really would use these for absolutely everything if they worked..... I guess it is back to wired headsets for me with the G1's...

Would Be World's Best If Not for Fatal Flaw
This headset broke my heart, twice. They're the best-sounding headphones I've ever heard, and the microphone is the absolute best of the best. The headset is remarkably lightweight and feels luxurious to wear because of the fabric earpads. Wireless connectivity is rock-solid, and there's essentially no lag at all.

If that were the whole story, I could confidently say this is the best wireless gaming headset in the world. Unfortunately, there's more...

Whenever I remove the boom mic, the left side starts emitting an extremely high-pitched whine that makes me feel like I have tinnitus in just my left ear. It was bad enough that I returned the headset and got a second one to replace it. Unfortunately, the second pair has the exact same problem. Not only that, my second pair, unlike my first pair, has terrible microphone connectivity issues. I have to jiggle the mic a lot just to get it working, and the slightest nudge will make it cut out altogether. I'm returning my second pair too, and I couldn't be sadder about it.

If you're reading this, Audio-Technica engineers, please fix the left-channel whine!

If you do, you will be sitting on the world's greatest wireless gaming headset, hands down. I will absolutely buy the successor to this model, but the current generation is simply not refined enough.

P.S. Not a big deal, but the mic-on-off switch is labeled backwards.
