Do I need anything else to enhance its performance?
mainly need it to listen to music want to replace it for my fm/am Sony stereo receiver STR-V25

  Thanks for your inquiry. The Arcam AV 40 is a surround processor preamplifer. You will need to connect it to an Arcam PA240, PA720, or PA410 multi-channel power amplifier. You may wish to contact one of our product specialists for more information and discuss your options upgrading from your Sony STR-V25.
