Bose SoundLink Revolve Review: 360° of Wireless, Room-Filling Sound On The Go
The portable Bluetooth speaker arena has been in dire need of a shake up; sub-par battery life and a consistent lack of raw power prevent audiophiles from fully embracing these miniature sound systems. Enter the Bose SoundLink Revolve and Revolve +. Packing a serious pound for pound punch, these little cylindrical speakers create wireless 360° sound, without disrupting the natural flow of your living space.
How can a single unit create such an impressive acoustic experience? According to Bose, the SoundLink Revolve internally houses "dual-opposing passive-radiators with a powerful ultra-efficient transducer -- positioned face-down -- and a new patented acoustic deflector. With the added 'pressure-trap' to eliminate distortion, the result is dramatic." The dual-passive radiators create a surprisingly deep bass response and the acoustic deflector allows the listener to place the Revolve anywhere in the room without losing the distortion free (at any volume), omni-directional, 360-degree sound – just put it down and let your music fill the room. Everyone at the party gets the same audio coverage.
The Revolve and Revolve+ aren't just speakers. With a multi-function button that allows for access to Siri and Google Now functionality, you can send a text or make a phone call – hands free. Much like Bose's original SoundLink speakers, both of the Revolves feature speakerphone capabilities with a built-in microphone and an intuitive top mounted smooth control panel to adjust volume, power on and off, and connect via Bluetooth. There's also an auxiliary input on the side. Smartphone users can download the Bose Connect app to easily switch between compatible devices (anything in the SoundLink line), or pair multiple Revolve speakers (up to 8) via Party Mode or Stereo mode.
Equally intriguing is the SoundLink Revolve’s indoor/outdoor versatility, with a 30 foot wireless range, over twelve hours of lithium-ion battery life once fully charged (the Revolve + provides 16 hours on a full charge) and a gorgeous, yet rugged, seamless water-resistant aluminum casing so you can bring the party to the beach, on a camping trip, or your backyard.
The larger Revolve + even includes a convenient handle to make transporting your speaker a cinch. Additionally, the SoundLink Revolve charging cradle allows you to simply place your speaker down on the charger - no connection necessary (you can even play your tunes while charging). Bring the cradle with you if you plan to party for a week straight – we won’t judge.
