Creating a Dramatic Visual and Audio Statement

At SVS, beauty is never just skin-deep. The Ultra Tower Speaker delivers a deep and detailed soundstage with incredible resolution, absolute transparency, and amazingly rich and articulated bass - outperforming other brands costing two and three times their price.

Dramatic Styling Yields Sonic Benefits

The stunning Ultra Tower Speaker cabinet design yields numerous sonic benefits. The non-parallel cabinet panels reduce standing waves within the cabinet, effectively eliminating frequency response coloration. The wedge-shaped front baffle and flush-mounted drivers reduce edge diffraction and improved on-axis high frequency response. Even the grille design is FEA-optimized to maximize acoustic transparency.

Each cabinet also employs two separate sealed midrange enclosures to optimize performance and minimize negative interaction between drivers. In addition, the cabinet bracing is FEA-optimized, the cabinet midrange/tweeter baffles are 1" thick, and the woofer baffles are an amazing 1.5" thick. This robust construction eliminates structural resonances and ensures the cabinet remains acoustically inert for uncolored response even at the highest drive levels.

SVS Drivers Extreme Performance and Uncompromised Fidelity

The proprietary SVS drivers utilize the finest materials and design features to ensure the highest sound quality and performance. The Ultra Tower Speaker driver array features a 1” aluminum dome tweeter, dual 6.5” midrange drivers, and dual 8" horizontally opposed woofers.

1” Aluminum Dome Tweeter

Light, efficient, and rigid, providing high SPL (Sound Pressure Level) with minimal distortion and the sense of utter transparency, the Ultra Tower Speaker deploys a Finite-Element-Analysis (FEA) optimized diffuser to ensure the tweeter only has the perfect on-axis and off-axis frequency response. That way, everyone in your listening room gets the best performance. Likewise, since SVS shares these design traits with both the Prime and Ultra speakers, both product lines can blend well with one another while offering that SVS hallmark ‘airy’ presentation and incredibly unveiled highs.

Dual 6.5” Midrange Drivers

  • Composite glass-fiber cone with excellent stiffness/mass ratio, which improves sensitivity and maintains pistonic behavior well beyond the pass-band of the driver
  • Vented voice coil former to minimize air compression artifacts at high drive levels
  • Aluminum shorting ring to reduce gap inductance, lower distortion, and improve high frequency response
  • Cast aluminum basket to ensure precise alignment of critical components and enhance heat-sinking capacity

Dual 8” Woofers

  • Long-stroke motor and suspension for low distortion and high output capability
  • Heavy-duty voice coil for enhanced power handling and thermal management
  • Vented voice coil former to minimize air compression artifacts at high drive levels
  • Aluminum shorting ring to reduce gap inductance, lower distortion, and improve high frequency response

Forcefactor Woofer Array

The unique ForceFactor horizontally-opposed dual woofer configuration results in mechanical force cancellation for reduced distortion and cleaner, tighter bass response.

The ForceFactor array also eliminates cabinet vibration, which could otherwise modulate the mid/high frequencies – so the soundstage is always stable and crystal clear.

Also, since the four woofers all fire in different directions, the acoustical loading and modal density in the listening space is greatly enhanced. No matter where you sit, the bass response will be effortless, smooth and accurate, and free of room-based anomalies.

SoundMatch Crossover Intelligently Designed for Your Listening Room

The unique SoundMatch 3.5-way crossover features a tapered array which supplies each midrange driver with an optimized frequency band. Only the top midrange crosses over to the tweeter, while the bottom midrange is tapered to minimize the potential for off-axis lobing at the critical midrange-to-tweeter crossover frequency. The result is a smoother in-room frequency response and enhanced radiation of total sound power, along with a more generous sweet spot in the vertical axis for a convincing and stable soundstage. Naturally the SoundMatch crossover network also features premium-grade capacitors, air-core inductors, and heavy-trace printed circuit boards to ensure pure signal transmission.

Great Upgrade to my Home Theater
Bottom-line up front: The Ultra Towers, Center, and Bookshelves sound amazing! Ordering process was easy, speakers shipped quickly and arrived on-time. As the driver unloaded the pallet, I noticed how well the pallet was shrink wrapped. I was even impressed with the pallet, that's the attention to detail SVS provides. Solid surface on the top of the pallet for the speakers to rest on. Speakers came through in great shape, easy to unpack, even by myself, and set up. Even without running room correction software, the Ultra towers sound amazing. Was a nice upgrade from my previous speakers, the Ultra bookshelf speakers may be overkill as my surrounds, but having the Ultra Towers anchoring my 7.2.4 system, along with an Ultra Center and Ultra bookshelves as my surrounds, my home theater is on solid footing for the foreseeable future. The design, build, and quality of these speakers is top notch. I feel like I'm hearing Pink Floyd, and other music I've listened to for decades, for the first time ... so clear and deep. The 3.5 way crossover design of the ultra towers sold me over other brands ... paired the Ultras with a pair of PB-3000s ... all I can say is thank you SVS!!! Great product, highly recommended!!

Not impressed after 6 months of listening with higher end electronics.
I bought these early this year in 2021. There is an imaging problem when I switched from the Magnepan 3.6r to the SVS Ultra Towers. At first there was a room problem but that is no longer an issue as it is in the reference part of my great room. The ability for the speakers to reproduce my best collection of Classical vinyl which was staged front to back and side to side very well has disappeared. Regardless of location, toe in, toe out and a few months of working with them, there is no realistic sound stage. While fun for pop and rock, the classics and live Pablo records and the XRCD jazz collection are veiled, poor sound stage and locating instruments as I could with the Maggies just is not there. It is a "fun" speaker but not a serious contender for serious listening. The Maggies also had the advantage of the Rel Subwoofer which was considerably faster on the low end and this continued throughout the bottom to the top.

In short, veiled, fair imagining with little continuity, with acoustic instruments missing the nuances that are particular to the instruments being played.

As a movie based surround sound system or even a 2.1, they are very good on the Marantz Pearl KI and OPPO 105. When moving to the Marantz 11 series reference group and my Micro Benz Ruby Z cartridge on a heavily upgraded Technics with Cardas wiring, arm anti resonant to what is available from the new reference series and the high density anti-vibration of the internal chassis and servo (The Frequency Generator Servo Control on the SL-1200 MK5 produces a distortionless sine wave, allowing a tightly controlled rotation with wow and flutter of 0.01 the thing weighs 45 lbs and unweighted rumble over -70), it's missing details of speakers that have invested money into the crossover and the peerless drivers which are good lack the coherence of the performance.

Ultras are indeed “Ultra”
I love the versatility. Depending on what is being inputted, the Ultras can be piercing when called for, or, create a soft jazzy ambience.
I find they sound best in theatre mode. Regular music is good, but blu ray & 4K discs REALLY accentuate/demonstrate the Ultras capability/versatility.
All 4 of my atmosphere speakers are SVS. Sides and backs are other mfrs (only because I own many speakers and want to get some use out of them.)
Add in a rebuilt PC+, a PB16, a Prime Center, and that rounds out my 11.2 theatre. All speakers come off my Yamaha, all via pre-outs into super SA power amps. (Heck, I ran three new dedicated 20 amp circuits to that back wall just to feed the monster’s (included my 2 SVS subs; all with 10 AWG wire for no drops.) 5 Power amps range from 400 to 1200 wpc @ 8 ohms, (with one unit being a 4 channel 500wpc @ 8ohms for the atmosphere speakers.)

So, including the subs, 9 of my 13 speakers are SVS. I still want to get the ultra center.
The sound of our theater is so incredible that, (even as an quasi-audiophile), it overwhelmingly exceeded my expectations. With that said, I’ll put our family room theatre up against any IMAX venue.
Thx to SVS. I’m a looooong time customer too.

Great for Movies, not for Classical Music
If you listen to a lot of music containing high frequency string and woodwinds, these speakers are NOT for you. The violins sound like they are being played on steel strings! SVS told me that there was a "break-in" period and that that high frequencies would mellow out after about 200 hours of playing. Over two years and 1,000 hours of playing, the strings still sound harsh and steely. Ouch! I bought a separate high-end amplifier with a high end DAC to see if that would eliminate the high frequency harshness, but no. It reduced the harshness a little but not enough for my ears. I now use these speakers for movies only. What a waste of my hard earned money! Now I have to buy a better pair of speakers so that I can listen to classical music again. I will no longer believe anyone who tells me that speakers need to be "broken in" to reduce high frequency harshness. By the time you have spent hundreds of hours of listening needed to "break them in", the warranty period has expired. What a gimmick!

Upgarded from Ultra Bookshelf's
I upgraded from the SVS Ultra Bookshelf's I had. Ok so They're very good looking, the sound quality is just "enough" or should I say its like a concert for music and like a theater for movies. Go for them you won't regret it, I very reccomend them. I have them with dual SVS PB-16 Ultra subwoofers. At the first days of listening and trying them out, I couldn't figure the best sounding settings, Untill I set the av-receiver speakers crossover to 80hz and LFE at 120hz. Levels all at 0db no audyssey no EQ. Now it sounds AMAAAZIIING! Haha :-) happy customer here, thanks SVS For such great/insane speakers and subwoofers!

Amazing tower speakers. I’ve paid
Amazing tower speakers. I’ve paid as much money for competitive brands that don’t measure up in the least. I would highly recommend SVS to anyone one the fence about making a decision to purchase. No regrets here.

Fabulous Sounding Speakers
The Ultra Towers are fabulous sounding speakers. What a difference in sound quality after replacing my 15 year old tower speakers with the Ultra Towers. Both music listening and movie watching are more enjoyable. With more break-in time, the Towers will sound even better.

With the Ultra Towers in my 5.4.2 surround system, the sound in my home theater is big in size and scope. The front soundstage is wide, seamless and coherent together with the Ultra Center. Other SVS equipment includes the Prime Elevations and Ultra SB-13 (with upgraded amps) subwoofers and various SouthPath accessories. My AVR is Denon X8500H.

For two channel materials playing in a “Pure Mode,” the Ultra Towers are powered by the Parasound A21 amp. During playback, the Towers’ high notes are clear and airy and are non-strident or non-fatiguing. I found the mid range to be great for vocals. The phantom center image is rock solid and image depth is very good. Again, the soundstage is wide. The Ultra Towers deliver a lot of smooth and beefy bass.

I’m very pleased with the purchase of the Ultra Towers. Besides sounding great, they look beautiful with the piano finish.

The only negative experience with the purchase of the Ultra Towers (NOT SVS’s fault) was with the freight carrier. One of the shipping boxes was damaged during shipping. The bottom flap was torn (1/3 piece was missing) and the inner bottom flap was crushed. Because of the dense foam packing materials, the speaker was not damaged. The incident was reported to Scott at SVS. I also reported a missing speaker spike kit which may have fallen out of the damaged box. Scott immediately send a kit out to me and I received it in a few days. Great SVS customer service!

No doubt the ultra towers
No doubt the ultra towers have a good finish and great solid cabinet build . The sound is quite good for the price range . However the upper midrange and highs could use some work . Better quality binding posts and internal components and real copper wire would surely benefit the sound quality . IMHO you should offer an upgraded model for $400.00 or $500.00 more to clean up the sound .
