SVS Drivers Extreme Performance and Uncompromised Fidelity

The proprietary SVS drivers utilize the finest materials and design features to ensure the highest sound quality and performance. The Prime Bookshelf driver array features a 1” aluminum dome tweeter and a 6.5" woofer.

1” Aluminum Dome Tweeter

Light, efficient, and rigid, providing high SPL (Sound Pressure Level) with minimal distortion and the sense of utter transparency, 1" aluminum dome tweeter deploys a Finite-Element-Analysis (FEA) optimized diffuser to ensure it only has the perfect on-axis and off-axis frequency response. That way, everyone in your listening room gets the best performance. Likewise, since these design traits are also found in the SVS Prime and Ultra speakers, both product lines can blend well with one another while offering that SVS hallmark ‘airy’ presentation and incredibly unveiled highs.

6.5” Woofer

SVS built their groundbreaking new 6.5” bass woofer on an all-new cast ABS-fiberglass composite basket for precise component alignment and an inert frame without resonances or added harmonics. Like all of the other drivers in the Prime family, the polypropylene cone is light and rigid to give a flat frequency response and the SPL necessary to keep up with the other drivers. Like all of the other woofers in the Prime and Ultra series, the 6.5” woofer uses aluminum shorting rings for reduced distortion, and a vented voice coil former to keep the motor assembly cool during high SPL playback. For perfect bass extension, the cabinet is rear ported and tuned perfectly for the 6.5” woofer.

SoundMatch Crossover Intelligently Designed for Your Listening Room

SVS's exclusive SoundMatch crossover sports premium-grade capacitors, air-core inductors, and heavy-trace printed circuit boards. All these high-quality components yield lower distortion, tighter tolerances, better heat dissipation, and all around better sound. The 2-way crossover is uniquely tuned so each driver can blend perfectly with each other while offering the best on and off-axis response, while maintaining phase coherency and razor-sharp time domain behavior.

Primes
Bought these over a month ago had my previous speakers for 8 years was never "satisfied".

The primes are so amazing with music and movies clear and creating a wall of sound.

SVS not just for Subs
I have been a fan of SVS subs for over a decade. I currently have 4 running in my home. I decided to take a chance and purchase a pair of Prime Bookshelf speakers from SVS. They are fantastic. I use them as "near field" monitors in my home music studio, paired with an SVS sub. What a great combination. I highly recommend the Prime speakers!

I moved up to a pair of Primes as well as a PC-2000 from a pair of Micca MB42x loudspeakers and a Polk PSW505. Don't get me wrong, for the price, the Miccas and the Polk do a great job and are still getting used around the house; but, at five times the cost, there's really no comparing the two so I simply won't. The Primes were well packaged and arrived very quickly and, even though I measured ahead of time, I was surprised at just how substantial they were. They aren't huge, but they definitely carry a presence in the room, especially with the covers off. I have them hooked to a Yamaha R-S700 100 Watt receiver and they will get VERY loud. My personal experience has been that they get too loud to bear before any kind of distortion kicks in and they sound amazing. They really smoothed out once they got broken in, and now sound quite a bit more natural than they did out of the box. Like others have said, the mids are nice and warm, while the highs are very light and airy. My only (minor) complaint, that I've seen a few others mention as well, is a tendency for female vocals to sound just a tad harsh; it's nothing major, but in general I've noticed male vocals to sound smoother and more natural than female vocals. They also have a very solid sound stage that creates a very nice 'wall of sound'.

On to the customer support; simply ridiculous. I had a few minor problems getting everything set up just right and they're lightning fast to respond through any form of communication. They were happy to help with anything involving the system, not just the SVS stuff. By far the best customer support I've ever seen. Now dealing with other companies is painful because of how much SVS has spoiled me.

Thumbs way up!
The sound is really remarkable with the sub-woofer, all within my same order. The 3 speakers delivered as promised by the previous reviews I read. After the 40 hour warm up period, the sound did get warmer and more responsive. I am powering these 3 speakers with a Yamaha 750W 145W per channel, 5.1. Unbelievable. So unbelievable, I am ordering a 2nd pair for a different zone. Thumbs way up! Company treats every customer like gold. Highly recommended.

Another Shot of Excitement
I had been using Infinity side surrounds for almost 20 years and never realized what I was missing until my wife dropped and damaged one of them while helping me move furniture. Thank you Sandra! I never would have checked out the SVS prime bookshelf had this not happened. The difference in depth, richness, and presence cannot be understated. They are full of pleasant surprises. About a year ago, my purchase of a pair of SVS subwoofers delivered a shot of excitement in my home theater listening experience. It just happened again.

Amazing sound, terrific value!
These are the best speakers for the money, hands down. With a fantastic fit and finish, these deliver amazing clarity and detail to my TV. I was a bit skeptical initially, but the Bill of Rights put my mind at ease, and I ordered them. They sounded fantastic from day one, and now after two months of constant use, they sound even better. I'm really happy with the sound quality, and recommend these to anyone on the fence. SVS it is.

Better in every way vs. my previous Sony Core Bookshelves
I could use all sorts of audiophile lingo to describe exactly how these improve upon the Sonys I had before and greatly so, for that matter... however, what really matters to someone considering these speakers, especially those who prefer to keep audio talk simple is that I truly liked how my Sonys sounded before getting these Prime Bookshelves; yet until I experienced these Primes myself and for more than a few hours of initial listening, I had no idea how better a $500 a pair speaker could sound vs. a $220 a pair one. So when I finally heard the huge and comprehensive improvement in all areas of sound quality and speaker performance, I was shocked how much better the SVS was vs. the Sony. Now I just need to add the prime center to complete my front stage (3.1 setup).

I will say that these speakers are equally suitable for HT and music listening. And I'm most a HT user, but music on these is sublime and so I find myself getting more into music listening because of that.

They also pair great with my Rythmik LV12R sub, matching it's clean and fast and highly refined sound.
