Ambient light sensor = no clock
Got the Horizon 2 probably a year ago now. Love JBL speakers and thought this was a great solution for a bedside clock and speaker. Speaker works great but the Ambient Light Sensor makes the clock stay off 99% of the time. Have no idea why no one made a brightness adjuster or bypass for the sensor. But sadly it’s just another speaker/paperweight on my nightstand now.

Best bedside clock radio music player
I searched extensively for an alarm clock that would play my music wirelessly with decent sound quality. Very few options. Only the JBL fully met my criteria. I have been using it for weeks now and I am happy with the unit. Set up could have been a bit easier, but I got it to work. The only real complaint is that the control buttons for radio, bluetooth and alrams are not lit or highlighted and barely palpable. The time is easily readable during the day and at night, no problem, Sound quality is good for such small size and price point. Night light is great.

The worst experience ever!
The only reason I bought this is only to see the time at night,
And this is automatically dimmed and you can't see it... while if the room is full of light than you can... I want to meet the "smart" person who design it.. and the speaker is the worst JBL ever.. DO not buy this !

JBL Horizon
I bought this for my treatment room for massage. Unfortunately the display cannot be made to stay bright. While it brightens when you are setting stuff it goes back to dim so I can't see it while working to gauge time. Also, it has 2 USB ports. Yet when I charge anything it whistles a frequency sound like a tea kettle! I have tried different cords and it still doesn't fix it so I can't use in my bedroom either. The speaker and Bluetooth feature are nice though. The little light that you can have turn on when alarm goes off or as nightlight is nice. And FYI the review is checking that I would recommend to friend. I can't get it to unchecked but I would not recommend if they needed to charge stuff or see display.

Excellent sound quality great clock
I think this is the best sounding alarm clock available right now. I looked high and low for a clock that doesn’t have listening capabilities and just offers great alarm, display, and quality sound. It fits the Bill. Why can’t more companies get with the program and design a good sounding clock?! Okay now for the bad. The Bluetooth isn’t capable of quick switching between devices like an iPad and iPhone. You must constantly disconnect/repair each device whenever you switch. Also, whenever you pair with the clock, a super loud horrendous sound annumciates so you know a connection has been made. This is REALLY bad if you share a bed and switch a device in middle of the night. Even during the day it’s obnoxious. They need to make this sound more suddle. Other than that, it’s a great clock.

Not so good
I have several JBL speakers and I absolutely love them! I needed to upgrade my alarm clock so I figured I would get this. It has good sound especially for an alarm clock... my issue is the alarm doesn’t work! It worked 2 out of 5 times I have set it. It just won’t go off so 3 strikes your out! I can’t have something that doesn’t work 100% of the time and having to rely on it to wake me up for work. Gonna send it back! Its heavy and other then that I really like it! Unfortunately it’s not reliable!

Also new version is unusable...
after a request to the JBL support I got the answer, that this new Horizon2 device still suffers from the same problem that already made the old horizon unusable: The volume of the alarm is still NOT adjustable! So it increases within a very short time to an unbearable loudness. This was the main negative point in many reviews and it's a real shame that this issue wasn't fixed in a new version

Does this have stereo speakers?

  Thanks for your inquiry. The Horizon 2 has two 1.5 stereo speakers and a two channel stereo amplifier.
