Customer Reviews for Yamaha T-S500 Home Theater AM/FM HiFi Stereo Tuner

The tuner has very simple intuitive controls. It only took me a few minutes to set it up and fill in the pre-sets with the automatic tuning.
The FM reception is very good. I don't use AM much, but I had to move the antenna around a bit before I could get good reception of the one station I do listen to (KYW). Most likely my fault for poor antenna placement.
The sound quality of the FM reception is very good. It is very clear and rich, and compares favorably to my 1970s Sansui receiver.
One thing I love about this series of components is that there are no lights on them when powered off. This is very nice for a bedroom installation, but it also means they cannot be powered on via remote. This is fine for me, but may not be right for every situation.
The tuner doesn't come with a remote, but can be controlled by the one that comes with Yamaha's line of Integrated amps. If you are going to use it with any other brand of amp, you may want a harmony remote.
There are very few separate tuners on the market, and this is one of the more inexpensive ones. It's the obvious best choice if you have a Yamaha integrated amp, and would be a very good choice with others if you are not concerned about the remote.

Simple to use and operate. Very good reception with a dipole antenna.
I was able to use the remote control that came with my Yamaha integrated amplifier.
