Dramatic Styling Yields Sonic Benefits
The Ultra Center Speaker cabinet design yields numerous sonic benefits. The non-parallel cabinet panels reduce standing waves within the cabinet, effectively eliminating frequency response coloration. The wedge-shaped front baffle and flush-mounted drivers reduce edge diffraction and improved on-axis high frequency response. Even the grille design is FEA-optimized to maximize acoustic transparency.
SVS Drivers Extreme Performance and Uncompromised Fidelity
The proprietary SVS drivers utilize the finest materials and design features to ensure the highest sound quality and performance. The Ultra Center Speaker driver array features a 1" aluminum dome tweeter, a 4" midrange driver, and dual 6.5" woofers. The vertically aligned tweeter and midrange improves horizontal axis polar response, with reduced lobing and comb filtering for a smooth frequency response and excellent dialogue intelligibility at all listening positions.
1” Aluminum Dome Tweeter

Naturally the SoundMatch crossover network also features premium-grade capacitors, air-core inductors, and heavy-trace printed circuit boards to ensure pure signal transmission.
The Ultra Center is an amazing speaker. It gives super clear dialogue and awesome sound in music. The Center channel is super important in Dolby Surround for movies and TV and you can't get better than the SVS Ultra Center. And the SVS customer service is the absolute best. You get 45 days to try it in your setup and you know why? Because SVS knows that once you hear it you will want to keep it. I did.
I had thought my old center speaker was pretty good, but compared to the SVS, it was a night and day comparison. Aside from dialogue being more present, the depth and base response is quite impressive.
I now own 6 SVS Speakers which include: 2- Ultra Center Speakers 2- Prime Pinnacle Speakers 2-PB16 Ultra Series Subwoofers The SVS Speaker Systems Blows the doors off any other sound systems, and I have three Engineering Ph.D. Degrees and over 60 years of experience to back-up my statements!
I was using three ultra bookshelf speakers for my mains and center. Within the one year trade up period, I decided to upgrade the mains to ultra towers and then decided to also trade up the third ultra bookshelf to the ultra center. My only regret is not initially choosing the towers and center instead of the bookshelf speakers.
In 2004 I purchased my 1st real center channel speaker for my surround sound system. It was the Paradigm cc-170 and it changed the way I listened to movies and t.v. forever. Here we are 18 years later and I had to make two upgrades a new AVR and and new center channel speaker. Unfortunately where I live my old Hifi store no longer exists so youtube became my resource for research. Audioholics,That Home Theater Dude, and Youthman amongst others were a tremendous help. I chose my AVR and then I chose the SVS Ultra center channel speaker. This speaker is nothing short of amazing. The build quality is top notch, the design is stunning and the SOUND is well out of this world! To me my old Paradigm was like the Hubble and my new SVS is the new and improved James Webb! I have only had the Ultra for about a month but couldn't be happier with my decision. I can't wait to purchase the Ultra Towers and surrounds to go with it! Sorry for the long winded review but I am just that pleased with the product that SVS had designed! Keep up the amazing work SVS!!!
Purchased (2) Ultra Bookshelf, Ultra Center, and (4) Prime Satellite Speakers. The one that makes the most improvement from my old HT setup is the Ultra Center. The movie speaking parts are now understandable without being overly loud and the Ultra Bookshelf speakers are also great. Next month I will add dual SB-2000 Subs to replace my old single 10" sub. Looking forward to a great HT experience!
Going to an Ultra Center from a Klipsch R-25C was a night and day difference. What I noticed the most was the lack of "noise" coming from the Ultra. It sounds super clean. My Klipsch was harsh and "ringy" in comparison. Now I hear exactly what I am supposed to hear from my center channel and nothing else. With the "ringing" from the center channel gone I hear details from my surround speakers more clearly as well. Pretty interesting that upgrading one speaker improved the definition of the entire system. Highly recommended!
Absolutely everything I wanted, and I replaced a damn good center in the process that I'll repurpose to another room. Couldn't be happier. The clarity and dynamics of this center make this easily the best center I've purchased, and I'm a 53-year old lifelong audiophile. My only complaint is that I didn't pull the trigger on this a year ago when I first decided to replace my center. With my SVS Ultra Towers and PB-3000, my system is rocking. Now all I need is to replace my 4 surrounds, which will happen in due time, with SVS Ultras and a couple of satellites for the pool (if they fix the app). SVS customer service is best-in-class, without question, and these guys ship faster than even Amazon. Ordered on a Thursday or Friday. Expected to wait about a week to receive but was pleasantly surprised when the center showed up on Sunday. Perfect experience. Perfect center. Perfect shopping experience. A+ all the way around.
Great clarity and depth; no frequency range sounds hollow or constrained. I upgraded from a premiere center speaker (another brand) and am very glad that I did. No buyer's remorse; even though I had never thought I would spend this much on a speaker. I contemplated going for the prime centers; but then went ahead with the ultras. Is it twice as good as primes? I wouldn't know; but because it is very good, I am happy. I also wasn't sure about the finish to choose; not much fan of glary finishes; but this one looks very good.
I have the PB 4000, two ultra towers, four prime elevations, the prime center and now the ultra center. Still waiting for break in on the ultra center. Ultra towers are awesome each time I listen to them the better I've them. I watch a lot of movies and also listen to a lot of music. To be honest I very rarely ever use the pb4000. The ultra towers just really sound great and the bass is right there. My only complaint about SVS is their price hike coming. They will lose me as a customer once this goes into effect.
I bought Ultra Bookshelves and a Prime Center a year ago. My thinking was that I wanted no-compromise stereo speakers for music, but I only needed a "good" center channel. And the Prime Center is a good speaker, no doubt.
The thing is, I could hear it. The Ultra Bookshelves are so incredible that I could pick out the Prime Center. I know SVS says that the Prime and Ultra series can interchange (and my Prime sats are doing great at their job), but...I could hear when the center handled something that the bookshelves didn't in music, and the vocal track was comparatively boxy in movies & TV.
After a year with the Prime, I remembered that SVS lets you trade up within a year of purchase. So, I did just that (and it was super easy, by the way, as long as you keep the original packaging), and let me tell you folks, the Ultra Center was well worth the extra spend!
The number one question I (and likely many others) had was how much difference is there between the Prime and Ultra. Put another way: at twice the price, are the Ultras twice as good as the Primes? My answer is no, they're not twice as good. But they're at least half again better, and that's significant because the Prime is no slouch by any means. And when the Ultras are put together--bookshelves and center--they get a good dose of synergy which was unexpected and noticeable. I'll put it this way: I'm happier than I expected to be with my upgraded purchase, and I wouldn't go back if I could (and, really, I suppose I could).
The Ultra Center completely disappears up front for a fluid stage. And because I'm adding two more 6.5" woofers into the mix, it's like I've doubled the number of bookshelves. The sound feels effortless and buttery, and I have noticeably better pressure in the room.
And call me crazy, but I'm getting a better surround field from the rears now. I haven't run a new room calibration or anything (yet). It is MUCH more immersive all the way around, just from swapping out the center.
So, if you're on the fence between the Prime and Ultra, and the price isn't a deal-breaker, the Ultras are noticeably better. And if you're thinking about mixing the front stage with Primes and Ultras, my take is that they sounded good (even really good) mixed, but it sounds phenomenal and almost eerily seamless when they match.
The way the Ultra Center Speaker was packed for shipping was outstanding. I could tell it had been dropped in shipping so before I opened it I took photos. To my pleasant surprise the speaker didn't even have a blemish. Then after hooking it up and pushing more volume to the center channel I was totally blown away by the sound. The only thing I play is vinyl through a 5 channel receiver
I can tell right away the center channel is an excellent addition to my set up I actually have to set ups one is a Elac unifi 2.0 set up and the other is a svs The problem I hear is that in the elac room I introduced the center and two bookshelves to review the soundstage in stereo mode the elac present a better holographic soundstage than the bookshelves and mind you I have no back wall in this set up but when I connected it to my home theater room with a back wall the soundstage and holographic came through thumbs up I think it’s because of the concentric speaker in the elac s so I dedicated the SVS for home theater uses only I would love to put them in the upper den area for aesthetics but I can’t get that holographic sound like I can in the basement home theater I guess they need a back wall to work correctly I would like your feedback on this topic because I think the bookshelves center channel I would love to put them in the upper den area for aesthetics but I can’t get that holographic sound like I can in the basement home theater I guess they need a back wall to work correctly I would like your feedback on this topic because I think the bookshelves and center channel or step above that he elac Please respond so I can put them where I’d like to thank you again for making such a great product
This is the best center speakers. Thank you for the upgrade my family and I love SVS fan for life looking forward to purchasing some surround back speakers next…. Service was great thanks for recommending this ultra center speakers.
I have a 7.2.4 system filled with all Svs speakers except for the center. As I stated to rebuild my home theater, I had purchased a Polk S35 center first along with a Marantz receiver. Knew nothing about timbre matching and the importance of keeping your front 3 speakers within the same family. Watched a few YouTube videos and read tons of reviews before settling on Svs. Once all the speakers were connected, calibrated, and ready to go, I sat down to watch few movies. In less than an hour I was able to hear the sonic imbalance between the center and my L/R Prime Pinnacles. The Polk sounded weak and without bass compared to the Pinnacles. No amount of volume adjusting or Eq tweaking could make up for the deficiencies I was hearing. I bit the bullet and purchased the Ultra center. I wanted to punch myself in the face for not doing more research before I bought the S35. It's a good center speaker but it's not in the same class or planet as the Ultra. Room filling bass, clear dialog, and greater sound dispersion. Very satisfied with my purchase. The speaker is huge and it required me to buy an adjustable tv to raise up the tv several inches to accommodate the Ultra. Looks great and sounds even better. As much as I wanted the black gloss, I had to pass due to possible reflections and finger prints and dust showing.
Svs makes great speakers and has even better customer service. I highly recommend all of their products and plan on buy a pair of Ultra Surrounds in the near future.
Sounds great. Brings more realism to my home theater. I will continue to buy SVS products until I have finished my plan of having a 7.2.4 home theater. If this single speaker so far makes this big a difference, I can't wait to hear it all once I am done with my build.
I replaced a Control 4 Triad center with the SVS. Triad was dull and a bit puny i thought so I began looking for a new center. Looked at Martin Logan, Klipsch, KEF, and a few others. Price wise the SVS stood out compared to the others especially when comparing specs. I was not able to audition all that I looked at, obviously including the SVS, but since I have 2 SVS Ultra16 subs that I'm thrilled with I thought the center would probably be fine. Fine is sort of understatement. It made a huge improvement for movies and dialogue was practically busting out from it. My mains are Martin Logan ESL 12, and they match quite nicely. The Logans are clear and semi-bright, and the SVS blended in nicely. No room correction done yet. Totally happy. The only drawback is it is considerably larger than the Triad it replaced and weighs in at 31lbs, but based on the sound I cant complain. I hope my fireplace mantel will hold up knowing how it was probably installed.
Absolutely in love with the Ultra Centre! I crank up the volume for movies, but have always struggled to hear clear dialogue during louder, action packed type scenes. That's no longer an issue with this center channel... everything comes through so crisp and clean, no matter the volume level.
I've even heard things I'd never noticed before in a movie I've seen multiple times! So excited to upgrade the rest of my system to all SVS!
I play mainly concert DVDs on my system because I love the way the surround sound fills the room. I had started building the system 25 years ago and after countless component upgrades had the system to a point that I enjoyed. Due to an accident by the cleaner that damaged my Paradigm subwoofer, I replaced it with a SVS SB3000. The difference was very noticeably positive. But I noticed that the Warfdale center could not keep up so I purchased the SVS Ultra center. OMG!!! The system is now stunningly better. The only downside that I have noticed is that I can't stop playing the system. I am hearing things that I never knew were there. The absolute clarity of the sound is fantastic. So I guess you can put me in the very satisfied pile.
i am in the process of upgrading my home theater, just brought the SB 2000 PRO , and i LOVE it ! most definitely gonna buy his twin ! Lol i brought the ULTRA CENTER and i Love it out the box ! can't wait to hear how it sounds when it is broke in ! undecided what Left,Right & Rear speakers i am going to replace my BOSE that i have had for over 25 years . but i am sure they will be SVS ! great products .
Couldn't be happier! Started with a Boston accoustics VR12 Then went to a definitive technology Mythos 3 Didn't like either of them so I decided to spend some money and went with the B@W 7 series Blew up the 1st time I turned it up. I run an emotiva Gen 3- 5 channel amp. Then I purchased the SVS ultra all I can say is WOW! I like my movies and music loud Add this svs product does not disappoint! I can actually hear the voices crisp and clear You can literally hear a pin drop on a movie sounds awesome for music too! I also run 2PB 3000 And seriously thinking of replacing my cerwin Vega dx 9 With the ultra towers! Gonna be hard to match the cerwin Vega clarity at high volume But something tells me the towers will do the job! Svs fan forever!
Buy these if you want truly high-end sound. You can pay much more for a center , but you do not need to.
I have had a Monitor Silver series center since 2004. It's still good, but his is entirely different beast. After playing it for around 20 hours, i can say it outshines every other center I have since 1998 (Energy, Polk, Monitor and Paradigm). The sound is much more detailed, with clear smooth highs (no fatigue), and transitions to the mid and bass range with complete transparency. I knew it was going to be good, but this rivals systems I have heard with centrs in the 3000-5000 dollar range. It has gotten better and beter as the speaker breaks in. It matched very well with the Vandersteens 2 Signatures I have for the L/R speakers. I will be saving for the Prime Pinnacles as the Vandersteens were built in the 1990's.
In my theatre, DENON AVR-X6300X is paired with EMOTIVA XPA 7 and BAS-X 500 powers my 7.2.4 speaker configuration with def tech’s as my 7, SVS PB4000 and butt kickers as my 2 and def tech’s as my 4 ATMOS.
When I replaced the center channel speaker with the ULTRA, it totally transformed my entire system by giving it much more of a dynamic punch in my mid’s and highs.
I put in Ready Player One and then AVENGERS ENDGAME to test it out and OMG!!!!! Felt so real as if I was right there on the battlefield with them. My ULTRA picked up sound nuances that I couldn’t hear prior.
Very nice speaker but did not blend with my front mains.
The center speakerwas very nice. I had to reluctantly return it. I have big old JBL studio monotors for all my floor speakers. The svs unfortunately did not blend well with the front speakers or give me the boost in dialogue clarity I was hoping for it was not showing the greater dialogue I was hoping for. I’m not sure i will get where I want to get unless I just do some crossover and balances sticking with my current JBL compression driver.
