Despite this challenge, the SB16-Ultra produces precise, rich, deep, satisfying bass from a listening position about 12' from the speakers and centrally placed sub (rolled off at 45 hz, 18 db/octave to supplement my near-full-range stereo speakers). We listen to a wide range of music including jazz, pop, classical, and hip hop, often at fairly high volumes, and the SB16 Ultra always delivers.
The only real surprise was finding out that the stock hard (nylon?) conical feet that came with the subwoofer worked MUCH better in our space than the optional $50 rubber feet. The sub has just the right degree of palpable impact with the stock feet. I put on the optional rubber feet, and the impact of the sub DISAPPEARED in our large listening space. It didn't matter how much I turned up the gain; my wife and I were sad. The stock feet went back on and all was well. So please don't assume that the optional rubber feet are best for a large space; the stock feet may be best. Happy listening!

By the way SVS, thanks for the extent of your customer care and for the $200.00 refund, due to a price reduction I was not aware of.
Thanks SVS, you “REALLY” did it again!
