Reviews
Customer Reviews for SVS SB-1000 Pro 12" 325W Sealed Box Subwoofer
This 1000 Pro has quickly become my favorite. I use it for my PC work/gaming audio along with a pair of Adam Audio A7V powered monitors and a Topping E70 Velvet dac. I had been using the Micro, but it always felt a bit lacking in its "punch," especially with my music (industrial/electronic rock) and some games. I swapped in my SB-2000 and loved the improved punchy, tight bass, but not the sub's much larger size. I'm in a wheelchair and constantly bumped into the sub under my desk.
The SB-1000 seemed like the best option, so I ordered it and a set of the SVS isolation feet. Within the first 5-10 minutes of jamming some Nine Inch Nails, I was smiling broadly. The SB-1000 hits the sweet spot for a nearfield gaming/music setup. It's small enough to avoid bumps from my chair, yet delivers exactly the kind of tight punchy bass I love. The Bluetooth app makes it so easy to adjust any setting from my phone instead of having to reach the controls on the sub's back panel -- ain't an easy task from a wheelchair. LOL!
The isolation kit is a must, IMO. The 4 rubber feet keep my little sub from sliding all over the wood floor.
The only improvement I'd like to see for the SB-1000 is a metal grille, like on my SB-2000. It would offer much better protection for the woofer than the fabric covering.

However..... This one and only exception is warranted.
This subwoofer is a monster and should be chased down the village square with pitchforks and torches........
The shear amount of effortless, solid, crisp bass is amazing. I've been a Klipsch subwoofer fan boy for 30 years before making the switch....
Now?
Klipsch who?????????

It took me a long time to learn haw to use the app. Biggest issue is that how it works doesn’t jive with what I thought I knew about subwoofers ant their operating frequencies. For example, my speakers bottom out at 50hz so I set the low frequency pass filter a a few clicks below that. That had no positive effect. I had to raise it to 150hz to get any real audible effect. played with the slope and ended up leaving it in the default 12db setting and 150hz to get the best result.
This brings me to my next point: It’s my understanding that low frequencies are pretty much non-directional so I’ve located my sub off to one side of the left channel speaker. It seems to me that the sub is in fact adding more to that left side than the right. That said, it could be that my settings have higher frequencies coming through to the sub that in fact do boost the left side. Again, still playing with this.
Third, as stated above I’m using a low power vacuum tube set up that has a quality that I really like. This sub is obviously a solid state device that adds it’s own quality that may be detracting from what I like about my tube gear.
Lastly, I’m low vision and was hoping that the app could be integrated into my accessibility features on my desktop iMac. I haven’t figured out how to do that yet.
I can’t really fault the product for any of these issues, but I’m not so sure that it has really added what I wanted to my system.
