PB-2000 Made my wife a believer
I've seen a few recent articles and headlines on social media sites discussing "Happiness in life comes from experiences, not from things." I bought this thing, and, every time I sit down to watch anything, I get an experience.

I've always been a thrifty cheapskate. I've also been an audio hobbyist since I was 13, and learned fairly early on the importance of spending the money to get actual quality - a lesson repeated when I was an electrician and I didn't want to pony up the money the first time for quality tools. So, over time the "you get what you pay for" mentality has dug deeper into my wallet when I research purchasing anything, which only upsets my wife - not for the money I spend, but because she hates shopping for my birthday and Christmas gifts. She knows the only toys I like are friggin expensive and she knows how picky I am. (I've informed her gift cards to various retailers are perfectly fine with me.)

All that said, I spent quite some time researching subs over the years, looking for something that would give me the experience I desired, but I couldn't ever justify spending money when my subs still worked. Then my Sony died, and I warned the wife I was researching and would be spending a chunk of change. Her response: "cool."

I read all the reviews and jumped on an open-box PB2K, and it is amazing. I ran the Auddesey on my Marantz, and it blends so seamlessly and insanely well into my setup (SR7008, Infinity Beta speakers - 2006 version, not 80's-90's). Even without the Auddesey I know it would blend perfectly. I've got it in a pretty small room right now (~1400ft cubed) and never did the sub crawl. Wife balked at the size when it was delivered, so it had to go out of sight behind the couch like the previous sub. Even without optimal placement, Every. Single. Movie. I watch now makes me giggle and grin and rewind to re-experience what it is capable of. Some examples:

-Kung Fu Panda: incredible subtle effects I'd NEVER even guessed at before (Shifu first grabbing the panda's finger when he's first brought into the palace). Plus the final battle sequence, I think I rewound it like 4 times while laughing maniacally to my wife's unamusement.
-Jurassic Park: during the opening sequence with the raptor being transported, there's a faint heartbeat pulse I don't even remember the theater reproducing appropriately when I was 12. Not to mention the dino steps.
-Independence Day: opening sequence. hahahahaha is my response when thinking about what my old sub(s) couldn't even consider doing.
-Mad Max: Fury Road: best example of the "experience vs. just a sub" concept. We've watched it 3 times in the last week.

Long review, and I hope some of you can understand what I'm trying to say which hopefully influences your decision to purchase one of these. But even if no one reads it, I couldn't care less, cause I'll be happy as a pig in mud all by myself in my TV room getting another experience from this fantastic piece of engineering.

Added a second PB-2000
Being very pleased with one PB-2000, I thought why not add a second? The dual subs fill my 250 sq ft living room with effortless bass. My wife is not a fan, but this is a guy thing. However, she wasn't pleased when a wine glass vibrated off the shelf and shattered on the ground while watching the new Jungle Book movie. Guess I owe her new wine glasses. Well worth the cost.

PB-2000 Subwoofer part deux!
This is the 2nd PB-2000 Sub I have bought this year from SVSound. I gave rave reviews for the first one and there is no reason to change for the 2nd. This is a great sub and the only reason I bought a 2nd was to give a more uniform sound field for my home theater area. The dual sub environment is very much worth it though I have no problem in recommending even a single PB-2000 subwoofer solution for most home theater solutions. The products are obviously great from looking at all the positive feedbacks/reviews of SVSound subwoofers and loudspeakers. I must add that their customer support is without equal. I have been in communication with president Gary Yacoubian and Technician/Subwoofer guru Ed Mullen with any questions/opinions abouth there products. They have been beyond responsive and supportive when it comes to every question I throw there way no matter what technical level it may be. You will not regret purchasing from this great company...If one is unsatisfied with a product purchased from SVS then no doubt this company will go out of their way to satisfy you as a customer. One can't go wrong. Kudos again SVSound!

PB-2000 is an excellent subwoofer!
The PB-2000 is a great sub that I would recommend without hesitation. I have used quite a few subwoofers since owning a home and emphasizing movie viewing in my home theater. My listening habits is 90% movies with the balance to general music listening. My previous subwoofer purchases range from Cambridge Soundworks, JBL, Klipsch and now SVS. I have enjoyed these subwoofers to varying degrees but I was always thinking I could use more oomph and a more enveloping sound field. The PB-2000 brings me to this point! My listening environment is a 12.5 x 19 foot area in a finished basement that is open to the rest of the basement on the right. This sub is part of a 6.1 setup whose fronts are Polk Monitor 75Ts. My center and left/right surrounds are older model Polk which are still very satisfying with their sound. Finally the back surround is a re-used JBL center channel speaker. The SVS PB-2000 works well with them all. A nice well rounded sound is prevalent. My crossovers are set to 80hz for the rear 3 speakers whilst I use 70hz for the fronts and center. I could not be more happier. My friend got a taste of this sub with a recent viewing of Guardians of the Galaxy and he was impressed with it. Great company who I have heard great things about when it comes to customer service. Being Ohio based is a plus to me also :) Kudos to SVS!

Currently i am using the unit for our dedicated home theater. To be sincere, going up a flight of stairs with this beast is not fun. However, once you have it hooked up and set-up, in our case using Audyssey MultiEQ XT32, the sub is absolutely awesome. Scenes from movies are taken to a whole new level, not just in the way the movie sounds, but to be honest, sounds we could actually "feel". I didn't get that before but trust me, i do now.

So glad i bought this unit - so glad, i actually ordered a second unit for a dual subs set up. Can't wait to take that dreadful walk up the stairs with the second beast, but after setup, i know its going to be awesome!!

Performs as advertised
I have been thinking about adding a sub to my system for a long time, and finally narrowed my choices to 5 brands. SVS was new to me, and I like to "see it and try it before buying", so was skeptical to buy based on marketing claims and data sheets alone.

Considering the generous return policy, the declared specs, response curve, and after reading reviews, and magazine articles, I chose and ordered the PB-2000 in April, 2014.

Shipping was prompt and this large package arrived in CO on the specified day with NO damage. The SVS packaging and shipping dept. gets an "A".

My "theater" is a large fully finished, carpeted basement. I knew it would take some work to find the right location for it. Many subs are satisfactory for explosive movie sound tracks, but one reason I chose the PB-2000 was the claim of excellent music reproduction.

Six locations gave pretty good movie sound, but I knew I wasn't hearing the purity or low end in music yet. OK, it's time to do the "sub woofer crawl" to get this right ! It's hard (for me, at 80) to move the room around, and re-do MCACC, etc. but I want to see what this sub can do.

It worked ! I have never before heard my system below 20 Hz. The claims are right, I hear music that I didn't know was there. The accuracy and clarity is hard to believe. Another surprise, the 2000 isn't even working hard. Where hearing and feeling the sound meet, you can't even "locate" the sub. Don't know what else to say except, I can't get the smile off.

To everyone at SVS, you are an A+ Company !! it is gratifying to find a product of such quality and performance ! The PB-2000 is not just a sub, it's more of an instrument.

Oh yes, I ordered and received an Ultra Center this december, and so far - it's GREAT. As funds are there, I hope to add the Ultra Bookshelf(s) later.

Thrilled Customer
Purchased an SB-2000, but found, that although a very capable sub, it didn't work well in my large open concept room. Bought a PB-2000 to replace and I'm very satisfied. The return process for the SB was easy and handled by customer service with great speed and courtesy. SVS is a great company to do business with in both product and service. Thank you!

dual ported in HT
Great product. Paired with my Triad surround system (7.2 but on way to 7.2.4 for Atmos). Great output and wonderful sound to fill my 16 x 20 room. Also really excellent for just straight music listening.

PB-2000 No regrets, none, not a single one. WOW!
My sub was delivered in two days.  I ordered it Wednesday and got it Friday, the day after Thanksgiving.  (I only live one state away.)  When my sub was delivered I wasn't surprised at the size of the sub but it is BIG.  I took a photo of my dog next to the box.  He's an 85 pound German Shepherd.  The sub wasn't as heavy as I expected, though.  I brought it into the house using a hand cart but I didn't have an issue unboxing it and moving it into place by myself.  I'm a moderately large guy.

I put the large SVS isolator feet on the sub then placed it next to my TV in the front of the room.  I ran the YPAO on my Yamaha A/V receiver to set up the audio.  I use four Polk RM2300 satellite speakers and the matching RM2600 center channel that I got on an open box special nearly twenty years ago.  They have a small polypropylene woofer and a silk dome tweeter.  The reciever is 85 wrms over two channels.  The room is 12 feet wide and 16 feet deep.

After setup the first thing I tested was a bunch of music.  My old Velodyne CHT-10 sub used to thump hard with music.  The PB-2000 thumped hard on some pop music but was a more smooth sound than the Velodyne.  Mostly the bass just blended in with the rest of the music coming from my tiny satellite speakers.  It was hard to believe how well a sub that large could blend in with sound from the tiny Polk speakers.  It didn't sound like a separate component.  It was beauty and the beast except the beast was also beautiful. I also listened to some Beethoven with the AVR sound processor set for a Vienna concert hall.  Wow.  That was powerful.

My next step was to uncage the beast.  I purchased the ported sub because I mostly watch movies.  I tested some sci-fi movies on Bluray and the deep rumble from the spaceships shook my couch.  As soon as the LFEs were over the sub faded into the rest of the soundtrack and it no longer stood out.  The same happened with very short LFEs.  The sub kicked up then quickly faded in with the rest of the audio.  The movie Titan AE on DVD has DTS audio.  The bass in this movie shook my couch over and over and over again.  If you like big bad LFE in a movie then Titan AE is the one to watch.  It has a lot of short bursts of LFE during shootouts.

I mostly watch movies and I like that the bass is there when needed but not so heavy all the time.  This makes dialogue easier to listen to.  Also, a deep voice doesn't dominate the audio.  The bass really kicks up for the low frequency effects in movies.  The way the PB-2000 integrates bass into music and movies makes the sub feel almost conscious, especially with that blue eye (power indicator light) staring at me from across a dark room.

I'm extremely impressed with the PB-2000.  I fretted for hours trying to convince myself to purchase this sub because this is a lot of money for me but I don't regret it one bit.  I bought it direct from SVS because their customer service policies are so good.  Once I had the sub set up I called with some questions.  My questions were all answered without hesitation and I also got some good tips about placement and setup.   I'm a huge movie fan but I also want music to sound good.  The PB-2000 does both well but especially movies.  I've never heard anything like it.  I never knew anything like it existed.
