Features

X-Tended Dynamic Range Pro

Enjoy a beautiful night view, full of dazzling lights and deeper blacks. With up to five times the contrast of conventional LED TVs, dark scenes are darker and bright scenes are brighter.

4K HDR Processor X1

Like you're under the wave, waiting for the water to break over you, the 4K HDR Processor X1 reproduces every sparkling pattern and texture for incredible realism.

4K High Dynamic Range

For the ultimate in picture quality, this TV pairs the brilliance of 4K clarity with the brightness, color, and detail of High Dynamic Range (HDR). Previously hidden areas of dark shadow and sunlight are now full of clarity and detail.

TRILUMINOS Display

See vivid real-world colors all around you. A TRILUMINOS Display maps colors from a wider palette, faithfully reproducing every shade and hue in the umbrellas.

Eco-Friendly

Dynamic Backlight Control helps improve energy efficiency by adjusting backlight brightness as picture content changes. Power Saving Mode helps save energy by adjusting backlight brightness. Backlight Off Mode helps save energy by turning picture off, which is realized by both display off on LCD panel and backlight off.

Narrow Aluminum Frame

The narrow aluminum frame helps the TV look slim and attractive, while focusing the eye on the screen for maximum entertainment.

Cable Management

Keep wires out of sight. All of your cables can be neatly arranged across the back of the TV and channeled into the stand, so everything looks tidy.

Cable-Free Front

Hide all your cables from set-top boxes or Blu-ray players within the unique stand.

Motionflow XR Keeps Action Smooth

Enjoy smooth and sharp details even in fast-moving sequences with Motionflow XR. This innovative technology creates and inserts extra frames between the original ones. It compares key visual factors on successive frames, then calculates the split second of mission action in the sequences.

Super Bit Mapping 4K HDR

Super Bit Mapping 4K HDR creates a smoother, more natural picture by minimizing its color banding. With 14-bit powerful signal processing, it breaks up the solid bands of color of an 8-bit or 10-bit source, up-converting to 14-bit equivalent gradation, with 64 times more color levels. It delivers graceful reproduction of faces, sunsets, and other areas of subtle color gradation.

Object-Based HDR Remaster

By analyzing the objects in each scene individually, object-based HDR remaster optimizes and enhances color and contrast. It brings everything you watch closer to the quality of HDR. Dark elements get darker, bright elements brighter, and everything in between is more accurately lit, for realism in every scene never-before-possible on Sony TVs.

Content Bar

The unobtrusive content bar quickly lets you find the movie, TV show, or video you’re looking for. Call up the content bar and you can keep watching, while you scan through live TV, videos on demand, downloaded TV shows, and much more. You can even customize the content bar to show you the content you go to most often first.

Built-In Chromecast

BRAVIA is Chromecast built-in ready so you can easily cast your favorite entertainment, like YouTube or Netflix, from your personal device on to the stunning BRAVIA screen. You can cast from Android, iOS, or your laptop.

Voice Command

Spend less time browsing, and more time watching. Voice search on Android TV provides you with the power of Google search, allowing you to find content across different services without the hassle of time-consuming text entry. You can also get recommendations; asking for "romantic comedies," for example, brings up a list of suitable options.

Made to Listen: ClearAudio+

Make your listening as life-like as your viewing. ClearAudio+ fine-tunes TV sound for an immersive experience that seems to surround you. Hear music, dialog, and surround effects with greater clarity and separation, whatever you're watching.

DSEE Restores Detail

Low-resolution Internet video, catch-up TV, and other heavily compressed audio files don’t always sound so great. A large amount of information gets thrown away when digital audio is compressed. With Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) technology, lost frequency components (especially high frequencies) are restored for natural sound with a more spacious feel.

Google Play

Discover movies and TV shows, games, and much more from Google Play. Enjoy a huge and ever-growing choice of apps on your TV in a brand new way.

Cinematic S-Force Front Surround

Enjoy an immersive soundstage that pulls you into the heart of the action. S-Force Front Surround mimics the way the brain correlates sound sources to create proper volume, time lag, and sound wave spectrum — using only left and right speaker channels. By naturally emulating three-dimensional sound fields, you’ll enjoy rich, high-fidelity audio across a wider listening area.

Bluetooth Connectivity

Based on radio waves, Bluetooth technology allows you to make a quick, short-range wireless connection that won’t be interrupted by objects in the signal path. Once paired, you're free to stream all of your favorite content—including movies, pictures, and music—from your smartphone or tablet to your TV.

Clear Phase

BRAVIA uses a powerful computer model to analyze and compensate for inaccuracies in speaker response. It does this by "sampling" the speaker frequency with higher precision. This information is fed back to cancel out any peaks or dips in the speaker’s natural response — resulting in pure, natural audio with smooth, even reproduction of all frequencies.

TV SideView App

Find, record, and talk about your favorite TV shows using the TV SideView app. Use your tablet or smartphone (Android or iOS) to see the latest TV schedule as well as view the most popular programs currently trending. Once you’ve found what you want to watch, you can set an alarm so you never miss the shows you love. Live tweet your reactions and see what other viewers are saying.

IR Blaster

The Infra-red (IR) Blaster lets you control other devices in your home from your Sony TV remote. You can use it to control your set-top box (cable box) with the TV remote controller.

Great picture (CableTV) and Great Features
Great picture (cableTV) and really well packed for transport. We took our time and carefully unpacked all the parts. The unpacking is very well thought out with removable clips at the bottom of the box so that the box could be easily lifted off leaving the TV standing in the base of the box. Very helpful!

After connecting video sources we put the TV in place. Upon powering on there was a dialogue that took us through the google sign on. There was an option to use an Android phone to do this. We chose to use the TV instructions. I got Netflix, Sony Pictures, Amazon and HBOGO set up and set up a 4K streaming video to see how that was. It was great. Sound is good and I'm not using a sound bar. My house is wired with Cat 6 ethernet cabling and we have 100MB/s service so everything looks good for bandwidth.

I downloaded the Opus browser from Google Play and that works well. Also I tried voice commands from the remote and that worked flawlessly. The TV stand is robust and I like the way it mounts so easily to the TV

The 4k streaming movies are very nice and remind me of why I bought this television. The remote has short cuts and although it can be a little confusing as to where you are sometimes, this is day one so we covered quite a lot of ground. I have a PS3, AppleTV, Roku3 and a cable DVR attached to the TV.

I will start setting up my favorites next so that I can get to them quickly from the remote using voice commands. We did download a software update which the TV prompted us to download. It took about 10 minutes to download and install. No problems. I would caution people to be patient because the TV resets and also loads some google content and it's tempting to intervene. Let it finish. It will tell you when you need to do something. There are some long pauses where nothing is on the screen. Best to go away and do something else until the TV tells you it has finished.

I took about 5 days to select this TV. I looked at VISIO, SAMSUNG, TCL and Sony. I wanted a full array and 120Hz refresh rate and upscaling and HDR. It was a bonus to have Amazon Alexa support as well. I had intended to spend less on a smaller TV but in the end the Sony 900E so impressed me that I decided to splurge. I took out the 3-year warranty as well. It was very tempting to go to the 930E however the price difference is too much and I had already blown my budget.

I can see that there are a number of features that I still need to explore but I am very happy with my purchase. My wife agrees that I made the right decision. Christmas came early.

I have a pair of Sony noise reduction headphones (recent) but I can't seem to pair them with the TV. I hope it's user error.

Best TV for the price
This is the best tv I have ever purchased hands down. Everything from the black levels to the colors are absolutely stunning. I love that this display is able to handle 1080p at 120Hz since I play a lot of pc games. The HDR on this tv is also by far the best I've seen. I was really unconvinced about HDR until I saw what it looked like on this model. It is still able to maintain deep black levels at the highest brightness settings even in HDR games and movies due to excellent local dimming. Resident Evil Biohazard wouldn't be the same without HDR. It just really adds to the mood. I can't really think of any cons to this tv this is easily the best tv at this price point once you get the settings dialed in to your liking. Don't hesitate to buy this tv it's worth every penny.

Stunning!
Compared Samsung, Vizio, LG and Sony 4K televisions. Sony Bravia was best not only in picture but operating system as well. Really, you can stop looking, just get a Bravia 4K.

Kill It When You're Not Using It
While I agree with the other reviews about the quality of the display, the Google Android TV software is the worst I have ever encountered which was not written by Samsung. When something crashes, which happens a lot, including the middle of last night, it seems to default to playing loud Google Play movie ads, some of them wildly inappropriate (I’m glad my wife hasn’t used it yet.) These ads don’t respond to the (microscopic) Pause or Stop buttons; Home seemed to work eventually, but temporarily. Even pressing the power button on the remote, or pressing and holding the power button of the display (which supposedly shuts it down) was not enough to stop the screen from lighting up later. I ended up yanking the power cord in the early morning hours.
Later: I haven’t gotten the loud and inappropriate commercials since I uninstalled the Google Play app, but the TV woke me up again by lighting up the screen for no apparent reason in the middle of the night.

This is a known issue, to which Sony has yet to respond: https://community.sony.ee/t5/android-tv/android-tv-bugs-and-issues/m-p/2089584#M64 (Registration at that site also seems broken.)

I'm also intermittently bitten by "Intermittent Network Connectivity using WiFi or Ethernet" https://community.sony.ee/t5/android-tv/android-tv-bugs-and-issues/m-p/2139273#M74

The sound for DRM videos (though not for the user interface) in all apps stopped working via my external speakers a couple of days ago. Given how tinny the built-in speakers are, this has made the TV effectively unusable.

Less critically, the remote design is the worst I've ever had to deal with, with microscopic Play and Pause buttons.

What a great TV!
I’ve had an HDTV by another manufacturer for 15+ years, what a difference! I looked at and reviewed a number of brands and features before settling on both a retailer and brand, the 55” Bravia 4K UHD fit my budget and exceeded my expectations. I was able to work out a package that included both the tv and a sound system that exceeds my expectations. A great experience!
