Uncover the Detail with 4K HDR

High Dynamic Range (HDR) will change the way you look at TV. Combined with 4K Ultra HD resolution, HDR video content delivers exceptional detail, color, and contrast, with a far wider range of brightness than other video formats. The result is the most life-like picture TVs have ever been able to create, with brilliant highlights and fine detail.

Upscale to a More Natural Picture

The difference is clear. You’ll see life-like detail and stunning clarity, no matter what you're watching. Two powerful image improvement databases work together, dynamically improving images in real time. 4K X-Reality PRO upscales images to near 4K clarity while a second database cleans the picture and reduce on-screen noise.

Action Just Like Real Life

TV that keeps up with real life. Sony’s refresh rate technology (Motionflow XR) allows fast moving action sequences in sports and movies to be seen with life-like clarity.

Scenes Appear More Realistic with Dynamic Contrast Enhancer

A full range of brightness is part of what makes a TV great. The Dynamic Contrast Enhancer inside of the X800G renders differences between light and dark portions of images with advanced precision, creating a picture with more detail and contrast than conventional TVs.

Meet Your Google Assistant

Android TVs by Sony now have the Google Assistant built-in, making your life easier. Ask it to play your favorite movie, check the score of your favorite team, and control your TV and even your home. It’s your own personal Google, always ready to help.

Great TV
After 15 years my plasma tv bit the dust. Read the reviews on the X800G and a majority of the people are happy with the TV. I don't care for the stand it looks like it would be to easy to knock it over. The set up was easy and the color looks bright. Lets hope it stays that way.

Great TV but Fails as a Smart TV
This TV has an excellent picture and a beautiful design. I like how it has a discrete but visible white light that lets you know the TV is on or coming on. The remote control is easy to use and has buttons which are a nice size. The only drawback is that the remote control has a square design where both ends feel the same. It would have been better if it had a shape where you could just feel which end was the bottom without having to look at it. Sometimes I'll grab it and the IR emitter is pointing at me. It has a great feature where it comes with extra emitters to control your cable box and Blu-Ray player. You tell it which cable company you have and it knows what the channels are.

The Android Aspect of this TV is Horrible and is what motivated me to write this review.
It has a Speak to Function, sort of Alexa. I tell it to tune "Turner Classic Movies" and it will go to the channel and change the input if required. The drawback is that many times if it doesn't find the channel it takes you to YouTube to find content for whatever you asked for. So it doesn't work very well.

There are two ways to access Apps on this TV which I found very confusing and redundant. You can go via the Sony interface or via the Android TV interface. They are both horrible. The only advantage of the Sony interface is that it has less Apps to scroll through. When the TV was new I experienced more buffering when I used the Apps via the Sony interface so I stopped using it. The Apps on the Android interface work better but at times Apps such as Movies Anywhere or Vudu will have slight interruptions when playing your movie. This is something I have not experienced when using an Older Roku device that I have.

If I want to watch VUDU I have to scroll through 30 plus Apps that I have no interest in. There is no way to remove them. Actually I found some instructions on how to remove these "Featured Apps" but then I could not access my VUDU App. I could only open it through the Google Assistant Speak To button. I had to restore all these 30 Plus Apps to be able to have Vudu show on the screen. At times some new Apps appear that weren't there before. Why should I have to always have to look at so many Apps (I actually counted up to 40 something) that do not interest me? If there is an App I want I should be able to go to the Google Play Store, find the App I want and install it. I think it is incredible that after paying so much money for a Premium TV that we can't hide or uninstall apps we do not want.

Another drawback is that some Apps such as Turner Classic Movies are not available on this Android TV. In order to retain the ability to watch my 4K movies from Vudu and other services I am going to have to order a Roku ultra. Roku lets you uninstall Apps you aren't interested in and they don't make you scroll through tens of Apps you have Zero interest in.

I would still recommend this product to a friend, but with the warning that the Android TV function is full of bloatware.

Outstanding Sony TV
I cut cable and bought this SONY TV so I can stream YOUTUBE TV to it. The 65" TV I bought is great and was easy to set up. The picture is fantastic! When you stream a sports event to the TV it is as good as being at the event! I bought my wife a little smaller Sony TV because it had to fit inside an opening in her room. My reduction in my cable bill will soon pay for the TV!

Great Everything
This 49 inch TV has better sound, color and features than it's predecessor. It replaced the one in our bedroom and even my wife agrees it's a superior television.

Great colors and connectivity
Bought this to cut the cord to cable TV, great connective to my Roku, still need to figure out how to connect old Sony Theater system to use the speaker system while using the Sony TV. Smart TV allowed me to use it in place of the Roku. Have not been able to get Sony support for the old Sony Theater system since it is out of production.
