See the Big Picture in True 4K HDR

Big scenes are even bigger with the VW295ES 4K HDR Home Theater Projector. Screen sizes up to 200” bring life-like 4K HDR resolution to any room. 1,500 lumens of brightness light up the action with Motionflow and Advanced Reality Creation technologies, creating a crisp, sharp picture in every scene.

Features

  • Full 4K resolution with 4096 x 2160 pixels
  • Three SXRD imagers for full color brightness
  • High Dynamic Range brings a wider contrast range for improved realism
  • Motionflow provides smooth motion for 4K & HD
  • High brightness of 1,500 Lumens
  • Advanced Reality Creation for upscaling and sharpening images without sharpening picture noise
  • Input lag reduction ensures faster refresh rate for gamers
  • TRILUMINOS Display for wider array of rich colors
  • Enjoy the latest 4K content services with HDCP 2.2 compatibility on both 18 Gbps HDMI inputs
  • Anamorphic lens compatibility for 4K signals (V-stretch for 4K)

Native 4K Resolution for Life-Like Pictures

With more than four times the resolution of Full HD, native 4K offers 8.8 million pixels (4096 x 2160) for a picture that’s so incredibly life-like, it’s like looking at the real thing.

SXRD Imagers Times 3

Separate imagers for Red, Green, and Blue channels give you all 8.8 million pixels in full, rich color at every instant.

HDR Compatible

Take full advantage of the latest content produced with HDR (High Dynamic Range) for extremely wide contrast range with an even higher range of brightness levels and volume of colors.

HDR Reference Mode Option

HDR Reference Mode allows clipping for the brightest displayed pixels to create a richer gradation in bright parts of the scene and retain HDR that’s true to the creator’s intent.

Motionflow Provides Smooth Motion for 4K & HD

On-screen action looks smother with Motionflow, even in 4K content. Action in movies, sports, and video games appears incredibly clear and life-like, as if you were there in real life.

High Brightness and Contrast (1500 Lumens)

With an impressive 1,500 lumens brightness and a wide contrast range, 4K images are clear with bright highlights and rich, deep blacks – even in well-lit rooms.

Reality Creation Upscales Your Favorites

Upscale your existing Blu-ray Disc and DVD movies to near 4K quality. The super-resolution Reality Creation 4K upscaler analyzes every pixel in any direction, then employs a digital signal processing algorithm to map pixels against an ever-evolving picture patterning database, compiled from over 10 years of expertise, to enhance colors, contrast, and textures without enhancing image artifacts.

Colors Come Alive with TRILUMINOS Display

Discover true-to-life colors and tones. The VPL-VW295ES incorporates TRILUMINOS Display color, reproducing more tones and textures than a standard projector system. Hard-to-reproduce crimson reds, aqua blues, and emerald greens are displayed beautifully, so landscapes and seascapes look more vivid. Faces look better, too, with skin tones more faithfully reproduced.

Enjoy All Types of Content in 4K HDR

Bring ultra high-definition to everything. The VPL-VW295ES can project content at up to 60 frames per second (fps) in 4K for even smoother images with superior color and realism. Both 18 Gbps HDMI inputs support HDCP 2.2 so you can enjoy more of the latest 4K content services and full resolution gaming.

Input Lag Reduction for Gamers

Reduced input lag creates a better response time between control input and on-screen action, making video games perform better than ever before. Immerse yourself in your favorite games and beat your opponent to the punch.

Anamorphic Lens Compatibility for 4K Signals (V-Stretch for 4K)

Wide lens compatibility means that you can use your legacy anamorphic lenses with ease, even with 4K content. Watch your content in your favorite formats.

Watch for Longer with a 225W High-Pressure Lamp

Enjoy up to 6000 hours of watch time (in low mode) from a long-lasting mercury lamp. This means fewer lamp swaps, simpler maintenance, and lower running costs.

Flexible Home Installation with Wide Zoom and Shift Lens

The powered zoom lens with a 2.1x zoom ratio and wide lens shift range gives greater installation flexibility in any room size, even with a high ceiling.

Built-In 3D Transmitter Synchronizes Entertainment

A built-in 3D transmitter synchronizes the optional glasses with the projector, so you can start watching 3D movies quicker. Upscale 2D films to 3D and enjoy classic movies in a whole new dimension or watch anamorphic images and 3D films simultaneously without changing the lens. High-emission power gives you a strong signal anywhere in the room.

Front-Facing Fan

With the fan exhaust positioned at the front of the projector, you don’t need to worry about wall clearance and room for air intake/exhaust when installing. This helps maximize throw distance, for the biggest possible projected images.

Great Value
Started shopping for ultra short throw projectors to upgrade my media room. But the features of the Sony 4K SXRD Home Cinema Projector, primarily native 4k, made this an easy purchase decision. Great picture out of the box, easy set-up, outstanding price/value solution.

Nice picture but major issues.
The left edge of the image will not focus. It is noticeably blurry, no matter where the focus is set to, and I've tried two different units from two different vendors, including a local AV dealer here in Minneapolis. If I display text or the green focus grid, it is super noticable, and my positioning is perfect to a half inch. I tried contacting support a few months ago but I didn't have any luck in figuring out the problem, and figured I would get stuck with a huge shipping and repair bill so I decided to just live with it...

...until the whole unit just straight up died today. It turns on, displays image, but then shuts off after about 5 minutes of video with a single blinking red light. Supposedly the code (two flashes) means it's overheating or needs a new bulb...it's practically brand new!!!

Writing a review on this was not how I was planning on celebrating my birthday today, but I need to warn people about this. My projector is less than a year old, with under 500 hours on the bulb, and at this point it's a complete dud. Maybe someone in support will actually read this and help me this time...I hope. Otherwise I have a $5000 paperweight, and lots of regrets that I didn't get different brand.

Sony vs Epson
I wanted to upgrade from Epson to Sony. I honest didn't notice any quality difference except the Epson was brother and lasted 3 years on a bulb. Im now facing $500 to replace Sony bulb after only 8 months! Did I mention that the Epson lamp was also $150 cheaper? Sad! I'm a huge Sony fan. I have bought several of there products for years now.

Great, theater level quality projector.
loved this projector. Easy to set up and great picture quality no doubts. I have installed it in a dark room so really awesome quality. I removed 1 star because of no 8 point image adjustment. If you are able to put this projector straight then its all good. It took me some time but was able to make the pic straight.

Awesome
This is my second Sony projector. The first one worked excellently, but I wanted 4K UHD. Bought this sight unseen because of COVID-19. The specs say the projector puts out 1500 lumens (the brightest 1500 lumens you could imagine). The picture quality and clarity is unbelievable on a 12-foot screen. My screen is white, and I can see it in bright sunlight perfectly. I love this projector!

Great for the price
Bought this to replace an aging but very good 1080p projector. This blew it away even with 1080p and lower content. Brightness, color, ease of use: all great for the price. Didn't notice the relative deficiency in black levels, but that may be because the room never gets completely dark.

Overall, a solid option!

Unreliable but good picture
I bought this approximately 2 1/2 months ago. I use it heavily it has about 700 hrs on the bulb. After a couple of hours use it turns off completely including the fan. If I turn it back on it works fine sometimes for an hour sometimes a few minutes. If I let it sit it works again for a few hours. I have had other projectors in the same placement and never had this problem. Good picture does not play all 3D sources. Unreliable. Wish it had a sleep timer to turn it off.
