Say "hello" to the new Sonos One.

Sonos jumps ahead yet again with Sonos One, a wireless, multi-room streaming smart speaker equipped with Amazon Alexa voice control. Now, instead of running back and forth to change songs, or fumbling with your smart phone to load playlists, lower the volume, etc., you can do it all by voice alone. Tell her what you want to play, where you want to play it. What's more, you can access Alexa through your Sonos One to do everything else Alexa can do.

Pick your playlist, jack the volume and set a mood while you cook. Get the news, check scores or ask questions while in the shower. Request a bedtime lullaby when putting the little ones to sleep, or let your party guests call out karaoke tracks on the fly – all with simple voice commands. The Sonos One set-up is a breeze, and connects with Amazon Alexa via your Wi-Fi in seconds.

The Sonos One may be little, but the Sonos sound is big. And rich. And crisp. And room-filling. We’ve been a preferred, one-stop Sonos store since the company began and we applaud the move to voice-activated technology. Now the world’s favorite wireless speaker is also the world’s smartest wireless speaker – you hear it and it hears you back. Good stuff.

Your new best friend is a good listener.

The one speaker that tales requests - start, stop, pause, mute and control every aspect of your music with your voice alone. Amazon’s Alexa comes built-in and hears your every command. (And everyone else’s command, too. Alexa isn’t picky.)

Your music, your world. Alexa aims to please.

Pick your playlist, check the latest news, ask for a traffic report, manage your smart devices – do it all with Alexa from Amazon. Once you connect your Sonos One to your Wi-Fi, one single Sonos speaker brings you the world, on command.

Music from everywhere? Let your Sonos One tidy things up.

Whether Amazon Music, Apple Music, Internet radio and a variety of streaming music services – you get your music from lots of places. The Sonos One app helps you manage, organize and and make sense of your many music sources.

Music in every room: a Sonos specialty.

Add a Sonos One to multiple rooms to enjoy your favorite music wherever you are. Or place a pair of Sonos Ones in your living room to create stereo sound. Want to create a wireless home theater? Add a Beam for rich, deep audio, and you’ve got yourself a smart surround sound system for your favorite movies, games, shows and music.

Good-looking, too.

Choose the smooth Sonos all-white matte finish, or go for black. Either way, Sonos looks smart and blends well (often disappearing) in any decor.

Beware: ONE does not stereo pair with Play1.
I bought a ONE for the voice control but needed it to pair with an existing PLAY:1. ONE's only stereo pair with other ONEs.

Many bugs in the Alexa integration.
The microphone does not always pick up the wake up call.
The Alexa integration was rushed to meet the holiday's sales, this product needs another 6 months of testing by Sonos.
A complete disappointment from such a great company.

I returned mine
Integration isn't there yet. I waited until the end of the return period before sending mine back, hoping for updates to remedy the issues. It could not reliably pause/play or even skip tracks, let alone play what I wanted in different rooms based on voice control. The only thing she could reliably do via voice control was play jeopardy. Not even the traffic or weather features worked properly. And, yes, I did spend hours on the phone with tech support making sure it was all properly set up.

Small package, room filling sound
I live in a 2 bedroom apartment, with the kitchen, living room, and foyer all connected in one open space. I've got my So now conveniently perched on the corner of the kitchen bar, dead center of that space... and let me tell you, it couldn't be a more perfect speaker for the job. The Sonos Play 1 fills my apartment with high quality sound without being bulky or cumbersome in the space it's given. It's attractive yet discreet. It's got just the right amount of base to let you feel the rhythm without knocking the pictures off the walls. I have never head to max out the volume, I usually run it around 60-70% at its highest - and I consider that booming.

Alexa is an incredible feature, I never expected the convenience of having her there to play my music hands free as soon as I walk in the door. Being able to ask for weather reports without looking at my phone is a huge plus as I'm rushing to prepare for the day.

My only complaint can be directed towards software functionality, but more specifically the integration of different music services in the Sonia. Alexa is fantastic, but only tracks and remembers functions performed by Alexa, or the Alexa app. If you play a station on Pandora, then ask Alexa to resume Pandora later in the day - she will only play what *she* played last, not what you had last played through the Sonos controller app via Pandora. It's a small inconvenience, but a more seamless integration would make usability improve ten fold. Perhaps a future software update can amend this!

Bottom line, worth every penny.

Sounds great but
When I first pulled the product out of the box I was impressed with the look and feel of the product. Set up was quick and easy. Set up pandora, tuned the sound for my space, and sounded great. Went to try and set up other things that were the main reason for buying such as YouTube, Netflix, and audible and found out none of them work. I then called in to see if there was another way to hook my phone up to it or buy something that allowed me to connect it in some way to get the audio from these programs and found out that short of buying the sound bar and using them as surrounds or buying the play 5 that has aux inputs there was nothing that could be done. This is greatly disappointed me in Sonos's short sitedness on this product after all the boasting that I have seen for this product being the least restrictive of all small and smart speakers. How hard could it have been to at least have a 3.5mm input to cover programs that you don't have support for which would have removed this restriction other than a wire and keep you from having to fix programs to run with your software. I hope in future versions of your products you would include Bluetooth, USB, or 3.5mm so that this can't be an issue. Keep it up with the great sound though.

Close to being real nice.
I have several of the Amazon Echo throughout the house, I was hoping this would be a significantly better device. The day I receive the device I was eager to use it and connect it to my phone via Bluetooth, only to find that it does not allow for Bluetooth connection. Crazy. Also, it is next to impossible to get this thing to recognize my voice while playing a song, which is extremely frustrating. My Alexa devices are significantly better at hearing what I'm saying. It's true that the sound quality on this is better than the Amazon Alexa. With some tweaking this could be an awesome device. Unfortunately those couple problems don't make up for the superior sound. Fairly disappointed.

Not much over the Play 1
To be honest, I was excited when I first purchased a set of these; only to have my hopes dashed. This speaker is effectively a Play 1 with built in Alexa. I don't think the former is necessarily a good thing. Sonos has had the ONE out for some time now, and yet there are still a great deal of bugs in the product. I have a pair of Play 1's and a Play Bar that I would recommend in a heart beat. However, with the Sonos ONE I would advise otherwise. Also, I get the impression that SONOS was attempting to do a lot of material cost cutting. The plastic with the ONE feels and looks less durable. I also don't like the fact that the top of the speaker is flat, vs the Play 1 has at least some design to it. The ONE's plastic also looks and feels like the type that after a while of using the touch controls, it will remove the matte finish, leaving shiny streaks where your finger has gone over the one part over and over again........ I know Sonos also had a leadership change somewhat recently, so hopefully things get back to the way they were.

Confusing
This product is nice because you know, it's a sonos. The biggest problem is that you are required to use 2 different apps for different things. Put everything into one app and simplify it.

sound is great. you have to use specific words found on website for Alexa to respond. to change the volume you have to specify a number 1-10. her frequent response ie "I don't know" If Alexa was integrated better this speaker would be a 10 +

Will this operate off my iphone?
Audiobeer on Oct 24, 2017
Thanks for your inquiry! This seemingly simple question actually has an answer that is a bit complicated, because the answer is both yes and no.

This is a wireless speaker, not a bluetooth speaker, so you cannot connect an iPhone directly to the speaker and play music. However, there is an app available on iOS and Android, which controls the speaker over WiFi. As long as your iPhone's OS software is up to date, you will be able to use the app.

The app gives complete control of the speaker, including volume, play/pause/skip, direct access to your streaming services such as Spotify, Pandora, or Deezer, as well as room calibration tools to make your speaker sound good no matter what room it lives in!

If you have any more questions, just let us know!
