Customer Reviews for Sonos Five Wireless Speaker for Streaming Music
I QUICKLY returned the KEF's and tried these. So happy and impressed. I wish they had a remote control. Other than that I'm sold!
to increase our listening pleasure in this period of self enforced isolation not only in musical formats, but audio books as well.

The only downside is we had to upgrade from the original Sonos app to the new one. That's fine, unless/until Sonos decides to try to drop support for the Plan:3 and Play:1s.

I have to power on/off everytime to connect to listen. Hard to find fix. Tried them all. Makes my sytem useless without this app.
The new Sonos 2 app is awful. Worse, I can't get rid of it. I also can't create the groups of speakers that I had when it was only in the apt.
I'm going to have to unlink all 11 of my speakers in both locations and start over using different eMail addresses.
Support is hard to reach and gave me bad advice when I got them (that I could set up two systems on one account)
Set up would be easy if I did not still have some old SONOS equipment that cannot operate on the SONOS 2 app. SONOS does not provide information on the problem that these speakers cannot be set up with the SONOS 1 app and linked or used with their legacy speakers/connect amps. This made it impossible for me to set up the speakers on my own. I downloaded the SONOS 2 app as when one tries to connect the SONOS 5s via the SONOS 1 app it tells you they cannot be connected via the SONOS 1 app. Unfortunately just downloading the SONOS 2 app and trying to connect does not work either. There are a number of steps that need to be taken to use both systems (even separately)
Unfortunately the tech support I got on the phone, did not know how to set up the 2 systems using one boost and music library. We did finally figure it out together, but it was not easy.
If one does not have any legacy equipment, the SONOS 5s would be easy to set up. I am an original user so for us old and loyal clients this is a disappointment and frustration.
The sound is INCREDIBLE. Great "stage," great presence. Beautifully separated, clearly and distinctly presenting each instrument. I listen to everything, from current pop to classic rock to jazz and classical. Everything plays beautifully through these speakers.
I just got my Sonos Arc, and it does a great job of fitting into this system, presenting an interesting "center stage" between the two 5s and working as a good home theater setup.
I would rate this higher, but in my own particular situation I have a Samsung TV. The Arc (and Sonos in general) does not "play well" with DTS DolbyNeo on Samsung. So, I get decent stereo presence but nothing mind-blowing. (Which is what people with Dolby and Atmos describe.)
On the whole, Sonos is a great and reliable service, with some terrific audio offerings. Just a little disappointed about how it works with Samsung and DTS.
Pricey...but worth it
