The SmartThings Motion Sensor can monitor movement in your home and send you alerts if there’s unexpected activity when you’re away. It can trigger lights and other connected devices to turn on when there is movement, and monitor temperature. Tell lights to turn on and off as you come and go, or set your personal theme music to play when you enter a room. You can also protect your home by triggering lights, sirens, and other electronics to turn on if there's unexpected motion. The Samsung SmartThings Motion Sensor detects motion up to 15 feet away with a 120-degree field of view.


With a SmartThings Motion Sensor you can:

  • Receive an alert if children access dangerous or off-limit areas

Great product . . . but
I'm currently working on my second motion sensor since the first one failed me. I got a first alert within seconds of the breach of the secured area. Then it took over an hour to notify me of a second breach of that area. Then a number of continued breaches were caused in order to test the response time. I got no notifications from then on. Then about 5 hours later the notifications began rolling in. I got one notification each hour for the next 20 hours. I returned that one and got another one. This one misses about 3 of 5 breaches. No contact at all. I'm thinking that there must be some sensitivity settings I don't know about since I can't believe that this product is as faulty as it appears to be. I'm almost certain I'm going to find out what I'm doing wrong and return to edit this review. I don't know how durable it is yet since I just got it. I have it mounted at the end of my driveway where I am supposed to get 50+ feet of coverage which is perfect for me as I only need 35 feet. I also don't know how weather-proof or weather-resistant they are as of yet. I have mine weather protected under or behind some rocks.
