Customer Reviews for Polk Audio Signa S3 Universal TV Sound Bar and Wireless Subwoofer
I bought this refurbished model at a significant cost savings over a new unit (whose reviews were very good). I'm happy with the quality of the finish and build of the speaker, and the sound that it produces; more than loud enough to replace my weak LG SJ8 soundbar for my 65" LG TV. I really appreciate the sound settings and voice enhancement levels too. The only annoying experience I have is the volume control increments (a loud knocking sound with each step up or down) is too loud and unnecessary; this feature needs an update to mute the sound.
The only thing that surprised me was the horrible shape of the shipping box that the bar came it. It looked like it had been through a war and kicked around the street. I had no idea what the electronics were like inside, but the soundbar is working great, with no nicks, dents, scratches, or sound issues.
Works great out of the box. Love the ability to cast to it. Just a heads up, it has Chromecast enabled, but not Google assistant. That means you can't say "hey Google" to activate. You need another Google home device to do that.
I am debating whether the person who pack my sound bar did a good job or bad job :) - The box is beatup but it's over taped so actually really secure. Beside that, the unit is as good as new and sound great. I am happy with the purchase especially with the saving.
I have this device for about 6 month and i am very happy with sound quality. I have tried Denon, Yamaha and Samsung soundbars in this price range and Polk Audio is far the best from them. People are complaining about auto shutdown function - just read the manual, the is simple tutorial how to disable this.
Just like JKal my Signa S3 turns off automatically. I am streaming music from bluetooth which is my primary purpose and I get a call. I chat with my friend for 10 minutes. After hanging up, I have to walk back to the speaker and turn it on. I see a support person recommended alternative ways of hooking it up, shouldn't have to do this. I just want to use it as a bluetooth speaker. This is literally the worst device I have ever owned because it is nothing but frustrating.
The speaker's quality is good and I like the Google Home integration but I have to give it a poor because it is unusable. It turns off itself constantly when nothing is playing. Every time I pause a music for awhile for conversation and resume back the music, I need to walk back to the front of the sound bar to use the remote to turn it back on. This makes it very inaccessible. Now I switched back to a different sound bar with worse sound quality but at least it stays on.
I bought this sound bar because of the reputation that Polk has. Sound is so-so, not quite what I was expecting. The speakers on my TV went out and needed something to broadcast sound. I listened to the speaker in the store and it sounded good (as it always does, and not in your home). I asked the sales person if there was a way to boost the bass coming from the subwoofer, he told me that he was sure it could be done. Sound is good for the high to mid tones, but if your looking for a subwoofer that gives you the deep, rumbling, and thumping sound, this might not be the best choice.
