Product Information

The 2M Series of cartridges is designed for precise and accurate retrieval of the information in the record groove. Ortofon's philosophy is to play the record sound as accurate as possible, without coloring the sound.

The 2M Bronze features a nude Fine Line diamond stylus, which is particularly suited for demanding applications. The slim profile of the Fine Line stylus will track even the highest frequency information, making it a must for discerning listeners. Additionally, its larger footprint ensures reduced distortion and record wear.

The cartridge body used for the 2M Bronze is manufactured from a newly-developed Lexan DMX Piano Black, a revolutionary material which ensures high rigidity while eliminating unwanted resonances.

We have optimized the design for ease of mounting the cartridge, and the weight and size to fit the most common turntables on the market today. The 2M Series provides excellent compatibility when used in an assortment of playback systems and with a wide variety of phono preamps.

The 2M Bronze uses a special upgraded engine, featuring split pole pins with a silver plated copper wire.

A very nice cartridge.
This is a very nice cartridge and an improvement over the one it replaced on my Technics turntable. Ortofon makes a nice range of moving magnet cartridges and World Wide Stereo provides outstanding customer service.?

Amazing Upgrade

Nice dynamic range and very revealing to my ears

Stunning!
This cartridge is absolutely incredible and very precise, but still has a fair amount of warmth that most vinyl collectors want. Highly recommend.

Pros: the absolute best keyboard sound of ant cartridge that I’ve ever heard.

Cons: it needs to be set up properly for peak performance requiring you to raise the time-arm on the Planar 3 with shims which causes the lid to improperly close.

  Let me please begin by saying that Rega very masterfully marries cartridge with table as a package concept, soncically and the cartridge that comes with the Planar3 is an astonishing cartridge and by no means is an after-thought or a 'through-away'. In fact it's one of the reasons one purchases a Rega table. That being said, if you want to replace it, the 2MBronze.

-Order the Pro-Ject Classic with Ortofon Red factory installed.
-Order Ortofon Bronze cartridge.
-There will be a $100.00 charge included for set up, alignment, and calibration of the Bronze.
-When the order is confirmed we will have the cartridges swapped and tonearm will be aligned and calibrated by our specialists at our Montgomeryville store.
-We will need your authorization / permission to open the factory sealed Pro-Ject carton to perform the swap.
-Turntable will be repackaged with the Ortofon Bronze installed and calibrated and shipped to you along with the Ortofon Red.

I have an ortofon as 212.. what would the best cartridge and or stylus to use with it ?

  Thanks for your question. I found an owners manual for the AS 212 arm. It makes no specific recommendation for a cartridge other than: The arm will match all kinds of cartridges well. That being said I can recommend any of the mid to upper priced M series with either elliptical or nude Fine Line styli. The arm bearings should be clean for accurate tracking and the arm carefully balanced after new cartridge is installed. Cartridge mount and overhang should be within Ortofon specs.
