Mark Levinson Mark Levinson No 535H Five-Channel Power Amplifier

Mark Levinson Mark Levinson No 535H Five-Channel Amplifier Overview

A subsidiary of Harman International, Mark Levinson engineers some of the finest audiophile equipment available. And it continues that tradition with the company’s first five-channel amplifier, the No. 535H. Designed and outfitted for custom installation in home theater systems, the multichannel amplifier’s semi-monoblock configuration ensures that the full, clean, powerful 200 watts can be delivered to each channel simultaneously, and that the amplifier easily handles the kind of instantaneous demands that today’s high-definition cinematic transients require. Connections for balanced and unbalanced inputs, as well as network and power-trigger ports, makes the No. 535H ideal for full-system integration. And the traditional tank-like engineering of the Mark Levinson brand guarantees that that audiophile (and cinemaphile) level of performance can be delivered for years to come.

Designed to deliver

Like every other amplifier in the Levinson line, the No. 535H is outfitted with the highest-grade components, and engineered to deliver top performance under any conceivable home circumstances. The five channels are constructed similarly to five individual mono amps, with each channel sporting a dozen individual power transistors and oversized storage capacitors. That means, no matter what the signal or scene, the 535H will deliver its full-rate power and unmatched dynamics.

Rock-solid stable

While Levinson doesn’t directly specify lower impedance loads, the company says that even the most difficult speakers – down to 2 ohms – are handled without complaint or instability. With 4-ohm speakers, you can look for the 535H to deliver 300 watts per channel or more.

Purity is their mantra

Mark Levinson’s circuit design team looks at the entire signal path, beginning to end, and engineers its equipment to maximize fidelity and minimize anything that gets in the way of listening pleasure. In the 535H, the chassis and the signal path are separately grounded to help eliminate noise and interference, and ensure that even at lower listening levels, reproduction is incredibly rich and detailed.

Outfitted for custom installation

You get inputs for XLR balanced and RCA unbalanced sources for full flexibility, and network connections and triggers for integration with full-system automation solutions. And the 535H is designed and manufactured right in Mark Levinson’s New England facilities.

The bottom line

Amplifiers of the sonic superiority of the Levinson line are difficult to describe; you really have to experience them to appreciate them. That’s why, in its review, Electronic House said the No. 535H “retains the Levinson hallmarks of build quality, industrial design and sound quality in a product that harkens back to the company’s illustrious past.” At World Wide Stereo's Ardmore, PA showroom, we’ve integrated Mark Levinson amplifiers with equipment from Harman corporate cousin JBL, into a single, stunning Synthesis cinema system. We cordially invite you to stop by and experience what we consider to be the ultimate home theater installation, and we know you’ll be convinced.
