Customer Reviews for LG OLED77B9P 77" OLED 4K UHD HDR Smart TV
We have purchased this tv 18 months ago and the decision to buy LG product was highly recommended by friend and long time TV repair man his comment was if you buy LG I won’t have to work on it. We Love it. The customer service is the very best in the industry truly professionals.
I’ve been joyed this television for about a year and a half now and I still I am amazed at how wonderful it looks. Even up-sampled content looks so much better than on my old plasma TV. It cost a little more, but even in the store, although I wasn’t planning on spending the extra money, all the other televisions paled in comparison. If I didn’t buy my LG OLED, there was no point in buying a new TV at all!
Purchased the 55” LG Oled Tv two weeks ago. Rather easy set up. The color and detail are outstanding. Grains of sand, feathers, reptile skin, changing colors of an octopus and even Steph Curry’s hair leave me in awe. Given that the entire footprint was a bit smaller than my previous flat screen I am tempted to get the 65’ model.
i bought this tv a month ago and have been in love with the display so far. OLED technology truly is different than other panels. Was happy to go with a year older as they offer more hdmi 2.1 ports! Colors and contrast is perfect, and runs 120fps on my series X at 4K no problem.
Love the picture on this TV. Best I've ever seen, even better that QLED from Samsung..only down side is I paid a fair prices for it...knowing it OLED and wanted the quality. But they haven't released any CRAVE and recent updated Streaming apps? The only one they ever added was Disney...and thank goodness for that one. But Crave Made by Bell Canada and others have not been added to the APPS. So If I want those, I have to go to Android TV in my Bedroom because it always has the latest avail. So disappointed I paid $$$ for a Great Picture..but very limited future at this point. May be replacing it sooner than I expected unfortunately.
Great tech and a great start to the line up of OLED TVs. I have slight burn in from playing long hours of games. If you play games I would recommend the CX series! Otherwise for tv viewing purposes it’s brilliant!
While shopping for a new TV , side by side comparison with other brands revealed the sharp quality of the picture was far better than the others. The features that allow easy access to streaming services are a plus over our older TV.
Simply wonderful picture. This picture gives me goosebumps. The blacks, the whites are best I have seen and edges of things razer sharp. Excellent colors, wow. Not just on 4k sources either. All HD is great. Natural picture yet so impressive. Some scenes look almost 3D. I am enjoying watching TV to its fullest.
After years of searching for the perfect first TV purchase of my own, I'm incredibly satisfied with the b9. The magic remote alone is a gamechanger, though slightly annoying when the lightest nudge pops the cursor on screen, its easy incredibly useful for navigation. The OS is easy is navigate but missing some of my fav apps like crunchyroll and hbomax. This thing is shockingly thin. I'm still amazed by its profile. Sound is decent, better than any hand me down TVs I've had, but may look into a soundbar in the future to maximize the experience. The picture is incredible, hands down. I didn't know anime for example would look any different but it surely is. Of course content like Our Planet looks just about perfect without even adjusting complicated picture settings. If there's a better tv for the price, I wouldn't know.
Great TV good resolution mediocre customer service
I love this TV; however, the LG channels have had issues. I was told that they'll follow up with me but i haven't gotten any call back to fix the issue. Outside of that, the TV itself is amazing. You get what you pay for.
I bought this LG OLED TV based on great reviews and features. We have not been disappointed. The picture is brilliant: sharp with great colors. The features especially streaming are easy to use and work very well. Have not noticed any picture quality difference between cable and streaming. The sound quality is a pleasant surprise. We have a great surround sound system but sometimes don't turn it on and still find the LG OLED TV sound high quality.
I've owned this TV for over a year, and I can say hands down it is the best I have ever owned. The picture quality is astonishing, very crisp and clear, with vibrant colors and very responsive when playing games.Easy to set up, and easy to configure. I'm glad I bought it.
Contacted warranty on December 23, 2020 finally got it working on February 5,2021. Response was fairly good, Service Tech was great , parts availability slow. We had a bad screen which means at least two service trips LG will not replace on first try no matter how obvious the issue. They did make it right other than lots of time no out of pocket. Be warned you have to remove and put back the TV on your own or PAY them to do it.
I bought this a little less then a year ago and I love it! The colors are the best and everything (for the most part) is crystal clear...until you watch something with dark/low light content. When you do, you see these terrible vertical bars visible on the screen. I’ve researched this and noticed that it’s a widespread issue with these oled TVs. I tried contacting customer service to have it looked at, but no one has contacted me back. It’s a shame because the tv is almost perfect except for this.
I absolutely love this TV, however after having it for 6 months the TV would. It turn on.. getting the warranty repairs have been a bit of a challenge and I’m hopeful now that’s it’s been out for three weeks I’ll see a repair person sometime this week... the clarity is amazing when the TV was. Working and I’m hopeful this was a rare event for this tv!!!
I bought this 9 months ago. There was apparently a settings glitch which caused the tv not to come on. This was quickly fixed by a service call quickly and efficiently. I have had no trouble since. The picture and sound have been excellent.
The TV was relatively easy to set up and had a great picture and decent sound such that I didn't feel the need for a sound bar. However, after just 8 months, is stopped working while watching it. When I called LG to report it (under warranty), was assigned to a local repair shop who called me within a day. They gathered information to determine whether parts were needed and decided 3 parts having to do with the power supply were needed. However, the parts were on backorder for nearly 3 months. They advised me to call LG back as if more than 30 days for parts to arrive, they will offer refund or exchange. That process took 3 calls to get straight, including two stints of waiting on hold for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, I got confusing emails from LG, simply ignoring them as I wanted the refund. The last email said part found and could be available in a month so I called back and said "no, I want a refund". That resulted in an email saying it could be up to 5 weeks for a refund, but when I called the person assigned, they explained it was much easier---they said a FedEx label would be emailed to me within 3-5 business days and indeed I got one. I was fortunate to have saved my box and styrofoam as I packed it, called Fed Ex, and had it picked up in a day. When it is received by LG they will mail me a check. Overall, without the TV for 17 days. I decided to give LG a second chance and purchased the LG CX model which had its price reduced just $50 more than what I paid for the B9. So in the short run, I'll be out about $2,000 until the check arrives, but since I paid for the new TV by credit card, no big deal. In sum, LG picture quality is outstanding. Customer service (starting with lack of very good instructions in box) worked and staff were always courteous, but disjointed. My new CX has the same great picture, with a much heavier base (B9 was plastic and maybe weighed 1 pound- CX base is metal with a front flange and probably weighs over 10 pounds)---otherwise, setup identical. If CX lasts with no incidents for 5 years, I'll give that a 5 star review. If I have an issue within 5 years, I will pay a little more and go with Sony.
Bought this about a year ago, have spent some time fine tuning the picture settings and I must say that this is the best TV I’ve ever owned. It’s hard to walk into another persons house and see a regular LED TV. I’m spoiled by the gorgeous black levels and colors. Not to mention the design is great! Screen is shiny but not overly reflective and the bezels are very small so sometimes the picture at night seems to look like a projection. Love WEBos (although it needs HBO MAX).
Intuitive and easy to adjust settings and all the ports you could need. 4K Blu-ray’s look astonishing, ps4 gaming in HDR looks crisp and fast, streaming is fantastic and quick to launch. It even has a port to connect my old GameCube which is awesome! I wish it still had 3D because I have some left over movies I would love to experience in 3D.
Spectacular picture and super happy with the TV. Also the burn in precautions are great! Screensaver comes in all the time when the tv is on pause so I don’t have to worry about damage. Would 1000% recommend this product.
We have had this tv for one year. We love the features it offers. We can see the picture even from an extreme side view. We did have to replace the remote, but now the new one works flawlessly. Love the new technology in this tv.
I bought it 7 months ago and within a month it began to flash to black every few seconds. After many calls to LG, I finally got someone to come out after several weeks.. They tried several fixes and now 7 months later I finally have it fixed. I had to follow-up regularly just to make sure I was not forgotten. LG should have replaced the TV but did not After trying many components on my time, it appears to be working. I understand electronics sometimes go wrong, but LG should have fixed the problem on their own time, not mine, by replacing it.
We’ve owned our 65” OLED for 9 months now and we love the gorgeous picture. All movies look great, especially those with darker scenes that require the TV to be able to pull details out of the dark, and this TV does it exceptionally well.
This is our second LG TV, so we are used to the Smart part of the design and the interface, which we find to be OK.
We like the design of the base support, a single crescent shaped foot in the middle of the TV. We can’t use a wall mount, but we do have rotating pedestal that works well with single foot and we like that a lot.
I’ve had this TV for almost one year and I have not been disappointed. The picture contrast and true blacks are amazing. I will never go back to weigh non-OLED screen again. I have it connected to my Apple TV and the 4K pictures are truly amazing.
We actually bought this tv last Christmas; it was a gift from my wife. just within the year, we started having issues with the tv, and so called in to LG for warranty support. After going through the phone checks, we’re referred to a local tech. He ordered the new motherboard, and had it installed in a flash! The picture remains amazing, and the airplay support is great for those apps that aren’t available from the LG store.
This is a great value, and the picture is everything I expected. Since I bought it for those reasons, I'm pretty happy. Operating system: There are a lot of features, and learning to use them has been a bit of a challenge. The TV gets better as I learn it! :-
Audio: The integrated speakers are adequate, but my new 5.1 soundbar has really upgraded the viewing experience.
"Smart" integration: Google Assistant integration is awkward ("Hey Google, tell LG to lower the volume on kitchen TV") because of that layered command requirement. You can't easily turn the TV on via Google Assistant, though there are workarounds. (Google's latest version of Chromecast can make it happen, for example.)
Remote: The remote feels good in the hand, and the buttons are well placed. That said, moving the cursor on the screen can be awkward, and the wheel should probably be replaced with a traditional "enter" button. Finally, I'd love to see a programmable version so that things like audio output can be changed with one click at the touch of a single button.
Despite my nitpicking, I would probably buy this TV again, unless I could find one that solved the issues I described.
The LG 4k OLED is intense. Such a great picture it out shines my other new TV. I will say that I would go a tad bigger if I need to and buy a thicker screen. Since mine broke in the middle of watching Hallmark Christmas movies I was upset. I have mine mounted to the wall and again the picture is clear, sharp, and vibrant. I would recommend an LG but I would not get the Thin series again.
Amazing TV for the price. Best OLED on the market.
We've had this TV for over a year now, and we use it every day. We found it on sale, and knew we had to pull the trigger, and it was one of the best purchases we've made. Definitely the best OLED on the market for the price, the blacks are true, deep black, high definition looks colorful and amazing. Really took our gaming and movie experience to the next level. The control is very reactive and convenient. Smart TV options make every viewing experience truly wonderful.
The only con that I can think of is that the TV came with a broken pixel. It is difficult to be upset about this, because this has nothing to do with manufacturer or retailer, it's just something that tends to happen. I couldn't get over it, unfortunately, and called the manufacturer for a replacement. Instead of replacing the television, they had a rep drive out to my home within two weeks to replace the screen panel with a new factory screen. I was nervous about the rep taking apart a brand new TV, but he did a great job. Now, we have a perfectly working television that I expect to have for many years to come.
I bought this TV very excitedly. Waited several months during the pandemic for it! Only to find that I needed a power converter to plug it in. With all the technology it has, it's not dual voltage? It supports Amazon/Alexa but not fully. It doesn't really support Google at all. Sure, Google Assistant can turn off the TV, but that's it. I really don't use any of the features because I find the chrome cast and for sticks better! Overall, I love the picture, but nothing else about the TV.
We love this television and its features. When the display had issues (lines on the screen), someone came out from LG to repair it and the process was pretty simple and fairly quick (a technician came a few days later). It is on the pricier side compared to non-OLED's, but we would recommend this TV if the best quality/superior viewing experience is what you're looking for.
