I first saw this tv at Costco, I and was amazed how thin the display is. Then when I saw the super sharp picture, I wanted to buy it. It took 3 visits to talk my wife into letting me get it, and I am very glad she did. I am an old man with years of electronic background working in telecom, and this is the best product I have ever came across. This set fills up my living room with the best picture I have ever seen.
I am not a big TV fan, I did want something bigger for my home though. I love the dark colors are able to come through, I find that when I get home I look forward to eating my dinner in front of the show I'm watching. It doesn't really seem that it is too large, but for me it is perfect.
Have had this tv for about 3 weeks and am happy with picture. only problem is it is hard to navigate . Will probably get used to it with more use. But would have been nice to get some type of manual. Probably could find one on the net but shouldn't have to search for something at this cost.
I have had the tv for almost a month now. I don't watch a lot of tv but when I do I want a great picture. I have floor to ceiling windows on 2 sides of my living room, so glare was a concern. With this tv, glare is no problem and the picture is great from anywhere in the room.
The picture is very clear, but since I am old and this is my first smart TV, I was disappointed that it did not provide a complete paper manual regarding all its features. My WiFi internet is provided by Verizon and my tv provider is IO cablevision. Perhaps this is the reason I need to use both tv remote and cablevision remote to access programming, the guide and other features, but I’ve always been of the mind to not put all my eggs in one basket.
Tv worked great for the first couple weeks I got it. Great picture and size. However, not soon after I got it the tv’s WiFi component inside the tv apparently suddenly just stopped working. Tv would not connect to WiFi, when I went to network connection, the toggle for “WiFi on/off” would only stay off and not turn on. Called support and they told me the WiFi module broke within the tv and told me they would send people out to fix it. 2 months later I have heard nothing about service being done and no plan to send someone out.
Tv is fine, however the diagnostics of it have failed me miserably. 2/5
This TV is great! My husband and I were able to easily hang it on our wall. We were able to set it up quickly and without any problems. This is a secondary TV in our bedroom and works wonderful for that purpose. The only complaint I have, and it is a minor complaint, is that the remote does not have a play/pause button. I do prefer to have a dedicated play/pause button, but of course, you can’t have everything. The sound is also very good on its own, but It sounds even better with the LG SPY8A soundbar we got too, and they work seemlessly together. The picture looks great, the colors and contrast are very nice. Overall I would definitely recommend this TV. We got this product as a bundled promotion in exchange for our honest feedback.
I received The LG OLED55A1PUA for a discounted price to give my honest opinion. The TV has an amazing picture. This compiled with over 8 million pixels gives you an amazing viewing experience. It is paired with the LG SP9YA Soundbar, you almost feel like the people on the TV are right next to you. The dimensional color is beautiful. We use this TV daily for streaming and shows in our family room. We are so pleased with this 4K Smart TV that we bought another one for the bedroom.
The OLED panel creates the most unique picture ever seen on a television. The self emitting pixels and their ability to dim themselves to off can make dark scenes more visible and viewable while also making a mix of bright and dark scenes completely beautiful. The eARC feature is useful for plugging in all your devices and getting full range 7.1 audio passthrough to the sound system. The magic remote is a Nintendo Wii like experience where selecting content is quicker than ever before. I use my TV for playing wreckfest and call of duty on my PS5 and also watch movies like the Big Lebowski on Netflix. I really like the magic remote feature too. Something that is truly missing from other TVs. At this price I would highly recommend purchasing this as it will supersede any led LCD tv even the quantum ones.
The OLED55A1PUA is a definite upgrade from our 12 year old LG television. We decided to install this tv in our master bedroom. We have been watching more movies on this tv ever since. The 55 inch was not difficult to install on a wall mount, but it does take two people to install. Set-up was super easy. The most time consuming thing to do was sign-in to my Netflix and Amazon Prime accounts. While browsing the LG Channels, I came across Pluto TV, which offers many channels. The best thing is these channels are free! My son really likes the TMNT channel. There are all sorts of channels, such as a western channel, cartoon channels like Nickelodeon and Nick Jr., Spanish movie channels, and many more. There is always SOMETHING to watch. You can even download live tv channels. The remote’s home button will make a bar pop up at the bottom of the screen. Here, you can access Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, HBO Max and many other apps. There are also plenty of music channels. As far as the picture, the OLED is a clearer, more in-depth picture. This is due to the self-lit pixels, with the tv containing millions. The resolution is 4K UHD, which is the next step up from Full HD. It has a 60 Hz refresh rate, which is great if you’re not gaming. The tv comes with a magic remote and voice recognition, which is great for finding a certain app or show without having to type it in. You can also connect it to Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. We use Alexa and you can turn the tv on or off with a smart plug. This is a pretty neat option if you don’t want to reach for the remote before you fall asleep. The tv has nice built-in speakers, but I got the SP8YA soundbar and subwoofer with the tv, all for a discounted price as part of this review. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase. I know we will definitely appreciate it in the winter, when it is cold downstairs.
When you first turn on an OLED coming from a different display type the upgrade is immediately noticeable. Even the setup and menu screens look pretty amazing. Fast forward to firing up some Dolby Vision content and you'll never want to watch anything else. The colors and detail are fantastic and to contrast cant be matched. If you have the opportunity to watch any sports broadcast in 4K you have to check it out, even if you aren't a huge sports fan. The detail right down to the players uniforms is impressive. The TV also has a ton of features to tweak your audio and video experience. The AI settings seemed to be the best option as a "set it and forget it" setting. The Magic Remote is easy to use and was the first time I ever realized I cared about the remote experience. All the most popular apps are available to download from LGs app store. It doesn't have the latest gaming features, but the fact that you can play at 4K on an OLED more than makes up for the latest HDMI protocol and variable refresh rates. When hooked up to my gaming PC I got a smooth and crisp 4K gaming experience. The sound is pretty good for TV speakers. The various settings help you to get a listening experience that's suited to your taste. I do highly recommend getting at least a sound bar, though, to really complete the experience. I set this up with the LG SP8YA. Pairing it was easy. I used the app which pretty much took care of everything. Once plugged in it took less than 10 minites to get up and running.
Overall, this TV can do everything: movies, sports, gaming, and all your casual watching. Between the picture quality, TV software, and remote it is a great experience. If you haven't made the jump to OLED yet this is the TV for you. You won't be disappointed. *I've received this TV at a discounted price in exchange for my honest opinion.*
Bought this TV after being amazed by the one on display at the store, and it does not disappoint! Picture quality is amazing, definitely worth the added price for an OLED screen. Not to mention how thin it is!
I have the first generation OLED that of course was 1080P and was blown away. Now that is totally eclipsed by the A1 in performance and affordibility. Not that my first gen is not still outstanding but it took that first step to make the A1 what it is.
I received this product at a discounted rate in exchange for my honest opinion. I'm very impressed with this TV overall. The setup was very easy. Either mount it or screw in the legs and you're done. In the initial setup you can use your phone or use your remote. I tried both and both were easy to do. If you plug in your devices during setup, it actually programs them to control your TV as well, if you so choose. The picture quality on the TV is great. I've watched movies, TV, and played games on it and I was pleased every turned. The menu is very easy to navigate and you get quick tips on what each setting does. I appreciate this because I wasn't familiar with some terms when I first turned it on. The volume works well and the TV pairs easily with a soundbar you may be using. There's also a screen saver that changes every so often to refresh the pixels on the TV. I'm very impressed and happy with the quality of this TV.
We purchased to replace a 4k that was starting to spot. This new OLED 65 inch fits our room perfectly, the step up to 65 inch and going to OLED was great as we have over 1500 movies. Make sure that the cable going into your amplifier matches the cable going out to the TV, if not you may have a lag in the sync for the sound. Once we matched the cables the sync was near perfect. The dark scenes are much easier to view. As long as the TV last for 5 years or more this will be an awesome addittion to our system.
Disclaimer: I received the OLED55A1PUA TV and SPY8A soundbar at a discounted price in exchange for honest feedback.
The OLED A1 55 inch TV is a perfect TV for anyone looking for a great OLED TV at a price that doesn't make you squirm. It lacks some features that the C1 and G1 TV's have, but knowing the limitations going into the purchase, I am perfectly fine with any limitations it has to its bigger brothers. Most notably, the panel is a native 60 Hz, so if you're looking to pair this with a Xbox Series X or a PS5, you won't get 120Hz gaming, and if that's important, you should look at the C1.
The build quality is on par with other LG OLED TV's, and aside from the stand, I believe the TV chassis is the same as the C1 series., which is to say it's great.
This is a secondary TV that is in my master bedroom, and for that purpose is knocks it our of the park. The colors are spectacular, contrast impeccible. It supports HDR and Dolby Vision, and it really shines in these areas. Because it's OLED, blacks are completely black, so contrast is amazing. This especially compared to my 75 inch Nanocell in my main family room that has a full array dimming LED backlight. The Nanocell isn't bad, but it's not in the same area code as far as contrast goes. It's just that good. The LG magic remote is spectacular, and has been modified from last year's model which I have with the Nanocell. In all honesty, I prefer the previous remote for one reason. They removed the dedicated play/pause buttons on the new model, and I constantly find myself trying to use them when they aren't there.
The smart features of the TV are as good as any other LG smart TV, which is to say awesome! Lots of app support including the staples like Netflix and Disney+ as well as apps like Plex. The built in speakers are a bit weak, which is where it's good that the SPY8A soundbar was included in the bundle. This complements the TV well, and with both being LG, they work in unison, and integrate seamlessly. I control both with the magic remote. The TV can connect wirelessly over bluetooth, but I prefer wired connection over HDMI for improved audio clarity from the TV using E-ARC.
All in all, this TV is highly recommended if you can do with a 60 Hz panel, and one less HDMI port than the C1. Other than that it's nearly perfect.
Its kinda crazy how the picture can impress me during the movie... rather than the movie itself. I chose this TV because I am using it exclusively for movies and TV series. This TV has the best color contrast i’ve ever seen, 2D images appear nearly 3D in a way.
Its 60hz so don’t get it for gaming. Im a PC gamer, so 60hz its perfect for my cinematic movie watching. Even tho console gamers would be COMPLETELY satisfied gaming on this without a doubt.
The sound is literally the best i’ve ever heard on a TV screen...
This is without a doubt, my favorite purchase in the past 10 years. I feel like I don’t need to go to the movie theaters anymore. Watching Disney+ movies with the kids is a great experience. You can really see the quality in the movies on this screen. Moana, Raya, Avatar... all look rediculously good. Way better than on my old 4K vizio LED.
I bought this a few weeks ago. TV is great but the remote is extremely user unfriendly. I use Verizon Cable and decided to use the Verizon remote rather than the LG remote. I am quite surprised that such a good TV has such a poorly ergonomically designed remote. I seem to switch remotes back and forth. Also, just a suggestion: when you attach the HMI Cable make sure that it is the #1 slot. TV works better that way.
