The trademarked Tractrix horns

A common Klipsch element, through the years and across the speaker lines, is the horn. The RP-8060FA gives you two of the unique Tractrix high-frequency horns, each flared 90 degrees vertically and horizontally for ideal dispersion, high efficiency and accurate imaging, all crucial elements for today’s top home theater setups. The 90-by-90 Tractrix horns in the RP-8060FA are molded of compressed silicon composite and fitted with phase plugs to reduce resonances. So whether the action is above or all around, or you’re just enjoying your favorite tunes, you get rock-solid localization of instruments and effects.

Two tweaked tweeters too

At the center of each Tractrix horn is Klipsch’s latest tweeter design, a 1-inch titanium-diaphragm driver for incredible lightness and rigidity, with high efficiency and low distortion. The LTS (linear travel suspension) technology maximizes the piston motion, and all-new vented housings reduce the reflected (or standing) waves that can compromise performance.

Those iconic copper cones

Even before you power them up, you can always spot Klipsch speakers thanks to the emblematic copper-colored cones. The two big 8-inch front-firing woofers in the RP-8060FA, as well as the 6.5-inch low-frequency driver angled upward in the Atmos module, are formed of Klipsch’s proprietary spun-copper Cerametallic compound, which adds stiffness while subtracting weight for top-notch transient reproduction. And a third Tractrix horn in the rear acts as a bass-reflex port, reinforcing the low frequencies even more. That means the RP-8060FA reaches way down to a room-shaking 32 Hz, with low distortion.

Here’s something that may astound newcomers to Atmos-enabled speakers – spin the RP-8060FAs around (and yes, at 71 pounds it’s tougher than it sounds), and you’ll find not one, not two, but three separate sets of high-quality binding posts. One pair is for your receiver’s Atmos output; the other two accommodate separate amplifier channel connections for low- and high-frequency drivers in the main channel, if you have some extra amp channels lying around. The process, called bi-amplification, aids in effortless full-range reproduction.

The cabinetry of the RP-8060F is made of heavy, solid MDF material for minimal internal resonances. The included aluminum feet help reduce room resonance.
