Klipsch RP-600M Bookshelf Speakers Overview

How do you fit big sound into a bookshelf space? You turn to Klipsch, which has been coaxing big sound from reasonably sized, modestly priced speakers for nearly 70 years. The new RP-600M bookshelf speakers reflect Klipsch’s decades of experience and dedication to excellence. A new-design 1-inch titanium linear-travel tweeter in a vented enclosure fires out through Klipsch’s iconic 90-degree Tractrix horn for better dispersion and rock-solid localization. A 6.5-inch low frequency driver is made of Klipsch’s trademarked copper Cerametallic material, and the rear-ported horn coaxes even stronger bass from the compact cabinet. That cabinet is crafted of furniture-grade materials in your choice of finish, with magnetic grille mounts for an attractive presentation in any home environment. Combined with your choice of surrounds, center-channel speaker and subwoofer from the RP line, the RP-600M can fill virtually any space with theatrical excitement at a moderate price.

The trademark Tractrix horn

A core design element in Klipsch speakers, then and now, is the horn. Flared 90 degrees vertically and horizontally, the unique Tractrix horn acts as acoustic amplification for the high-frequency driver (a second Tractrix horn fires out of a rear bass port). The horn not only makes speakers such as the RP-600M incredibly efficient, but also directs high frequencies right into the sweet spot of the listening area for precise localization of instruments and effects. The Tractrix horn, molded of compressed silicon composite and fitted with a phase plug to reduce resonances, places listeners in the middle of the action or at center stage.

An upgraded tweeter

At the center of that Tractrix horn is Klipsch’s latest tweeter design, a 1-inch titanium-diaphragm driver for lightness and rigidity, with high efficiency and low distortion. The proven LTS (linear travel suspension) technology maximizes the piston motion, and an all-new vented housing reduces the reflected waves that can compromise performance.

That iconic copper cone

Even before you power it up, you can always spot a Klipsch by its emblematic copper-colored cone. The 6.5-inch woofer in the RP-600M is formed of Klipsch’s proprietary spun-copper Cerametallic material, which adds stiffness while subtracting weight for superior transient reproduction and high efficiency. And the rear-firing Tractrix horn bass port strengthens the low-frequency extension further still, reaching down to 45 Hz.

Ready for bi-amplification

If your surround-sound receiver or amp has a couple extra channels lying around, the RP-600M puts them to good use. High-quality binding posts provide separate connections for low-frequency and high-frequency drivers, so separate power amp channels can be connected to each for effortless reproduction and lower distortion.

Ultra-light drivers = ultra-powerful sound

Klipsch’s horn-loading design, combined with ultra-light and ultra-responsive drivers, means that speakers such as the RP-600M can handle the dynamic range of today’s movie soundtracks – and are rugged enough to rock out the house when called for. These small speakers make the most of the majority of today’s home-theater receivers and amps.

Bookshelf-worthy appearance

The cabinetry is made of heavy, solid MDF material reinforced for minimal internal resonances and finished in scratch-resistant ebony or walnut. Combined with the unique look of copper cones and satin painted front panels, the RP-600M looks right at home proudly displayed on any bookshelf, with or without the attractive and flexible grille attached.

Amazingly detailed speakers!
I acquired these speakers when they were on sale, but even if I had paid full price I would’ve been very happy.

The more you listen the better they sound
I was less than impressed when I first hooked these speakers up as mains but the more I listened the better they get. They have excellent bass for their size and mids and highs are sounding better to. I would definitely recomend these speakers especially for the price, you just need to position them correctly and give them some break in time they sound a lot bigger than they are. I will be using them for my rear surround and put my svs towers back in front

Fantastic sound in a small package
The purchase of these speakers made me a first time Klipsch customer, as I went out to replace a pair of Paradigm bookshelf speakers that had twice had their woofers blown out. I also previously owned a pair of B&W 805 bookshelf speakers costing 4X as much as these Klipsch RP-600M speakers. I bring up the Paradigm and B&W speakers to be able to make comparisons with the RP-600M speakers. The RP-600M speakers are serving the role of main speakers in a home theater with a Monitor audio center channel speaker and Cambridge Soundworks surround speakers. I was truly unprepared when I connected the new RP-600M speakers to my Yamaha receiver and had my first listen. What caught me off guard was just how full the sound was, with a new rich deep bass emerging from these speakers that I've never heard in my other bookshelf speakers mentioned above. The RP-600M speakers, simply stated, sound like floor standing speakers, and are able to easily fill my large listening room with clean, full range sound. I have, until now, not enjoyed just sitting and listening to two-channel stereo music through the Paradigm speakers, like I used to enjoy with the B&W 805 speakers. With the Klipsch speakers I am excited to listen to music again, and find myself doing that frequently now (daily if I can). While I am, in my heart, first and foremost a lover of alternative rock, I also throughougly enjoy other genres, and have exposed the Klipsch speakers to a variety of songs from Diana Krall, Post Malone, George Michael, the Fairfield Four, Adele, Andrea Bocelli, Fleetwood Mac, K.D. Lang, Katy Perry, Marc Anthony, Pentatonix, and numerous other artists that I also enjoy. The Klipsch speakers welcome these various musical styles with open arms and breath life into them all. The sound is so clean and clear that I have to hold myself back from opening up the volume to the ridiculous levels these speakers are capable of handling so that I don't upset my family, however when the family is out of the house, I don't hold back at all. I recommend these speakers to anyone looking for a bookshelf speaker, affordably priced, that wants both a good home theater speaker, but is also looking for a home audio speaker that they can really enjoy. I forgot to mention...they also happen to be beautiful to look at with the spun copper woofer. The magnetically attached speaker covers are easily removed so that you can quickly expose the drivers.
