Klipsch Brings the Bass
In special effects-laden movies, especially action scenes where there are low frequency effects for explosions and gun shots and trampled cars, you’ll hear that extra oomph or punch—the smashes, crashes and thumps—that makes for a more realistic experience. This is what happens when you have a Klipsch powered subwoofer. It delivers loud and thunderous deep bass that’s dynamic, accurate and precise.
Powerful Sub, Affordable Price
The Klipsch R12SW 12” 400W Powered Subwoofer (black) creates ideal levels of deep bass for movie enthusiasts and music aficionados, as well as serious audiophiles looking to improve their home theater system. If you’re on the market for a sub that produces flawlessly clear and powerful low frequency notes that deepen the impact of any music or movie experience without breaking the bank, the R12SW might just be what you’re looking for.
High Quality Audio Components
This high-end yet affordable sub sports a 12-inch copper-spun IMG (Injection Molded Graphite) front-firing woofer, a very wide crossover range, easy setup, tight effortless bass response due to its beefy 200-watt amp, and a ton of deep bass below its rated low point of 29 Hz. Whether you’re watching a movie, playing a video game, or listening to music—from jazz to classical, and from country to hip hop—the R12SW lets you hear and feel those extremely low frequencies that add energy, depth, and dynamics to your movies and music.
Great Sound, Amplified
The Klipsch R12SW subwoofer has a 200-watt built-in, all-digital amplifier for powerful, refined bass that delivers highly accurate and enhanced sound reproduction in order to bring music, movies, and video games to life. The R12SW only produces bass that’s tight, clear, and clean.
For some perspective, when choosing a sub, you should look at the RMS continuous power, or the number of watts an amplifier can continuously deliver. Subs like the Klipsch R12SW can handle more than 200 watts of power and won’t damage or blow up its amp, which means you can run all the Fast and Furious movies on a continuous loop for extended periods of time. This is why the R12SW is very powerful for its class. It’s rated at 200 watts of RMS with bursts up to 400 watts.
Expansive Frequency Response
The R12SW response, at 29Hz-120Hz, is expansive. For a 12-inch subwoofer, the fact that it can reach down below 29Hz is impressive, as other subs in this size struggle to reach sub 30Hz frequencies.
A Driver for Lifelike Sound
The R12SW features a 12-inch copper-spun IMG driver for more accurate and lifelike sound. A driver should be both light and rigid, and this one delivers. It has a light construction and yet it’s strong enough to provide enhanced low frequency response with minimal cone breakup and distortion.
Front-Firing Design for Placement Flexibility
The R12SW is front-firing, which means that it pushes the bass waves directly towards you, ensuring more accurate bass that leads to a better feel of the sound. The front-firing design also allows for placement flexibility.
Easy System IntegrationLow pass crossover and phase control settings allow you to blend the subwoofer’s low-frequency tones with other speakers in your room. They also enable you to get just the right level of bass to your liking. In addition, the phase control helps you to acoustically match the sub’s output to your main speakers. Line-level and LFE (Low-Frequency Effects) inputs let you easily connect the R12SW to almost any home theater or stereo receiver. The LFE setting disables the crossover.
Front-Mounted LED Power
The LED power indicator is easy to read for easy sound management, allowing you to tell when the sub is powered up and ready to go so you can remain a couch potato on your darn couch.
Attractive Cabinet Design
The R12SW has a bass reflex type MDF, or multi-density fiberboard, cabinet. The material makes the cabinet very rigid and tight, which translates to minimum vibration. The brushed black polymer veneer finish is attractive, and the cabinet will seamlessly blend with your existing system and other speakers to create an immersive listening experience. In addition, the strong flexible grill, which is removable, adds a refined look that is acoustically transparent, and extends the height of the cabinet to 19.2 inches.

Customer Reviews for Klipsch R12SW 12" 400W Powered Subwoofer (Black)
I sacrificed when I originally purchased my Klipsch speakers and went with the 8" front towers instead of 6", and bought the 8" sub to keep costs down. That was 10 years ago.
I had heard the 12" sub and loved it then.
This 12" went on sale on cyber Monday, I pulled the trigger, hooked it up and what an idiot I am! 10 years of missing the room shaking umph! Night and day!
Don't be an idiot like me. Spend the money. It is worth it!
I removed the bass from my towers using my Yamaha deck set up, and my entire system sounds completely different. It's like a whole new system! Commercials sound awesome! Movies knock wifieys nick nacks off the shelves! Windows rattle. AMAZING!!!
It sounds fantastic.
What I like most is that when my wife & I am watching a movie or TV at the lower volumes she prefers, the sound is still full & rich with mids and bass while maintaining brightness & clarity.
BUT , when I'm alone in the house I can retune & crank it up , then it goes from fantastic to awesome.
When I was researching & buying my new entertainment system I wanted the very newest technology for the television the tuner and the ultra hd disk player but when it came to the speakers I opted for a brand with a long history of solid performance. Honestly, I've listened to Klipsch speakers that were 45 years old that sill sound wonderful.
