Maximum sound

The entire JBL Synthesis line is designed for the finest reproduction. The SCL-2 starts with not one, not two, but three 8-inch woofers. Each has a rugged cast frame and Advanced Aluminum Matrix cone to reach low. And combined with a capacity of 445 continuous watts, they supply the kind of whisper-to-detonation dynamics that today’s cinema soundtracks demand.

Maximum soundstage

JBL’s unique model D2 1.5-inch compression driver merges dual voice coils and diaphragms of tough, durable Teonex polyester into a single transducer, for higher efficiency, lower distortion and greater power handling capability. The D2 directs the high frequencies via a patented High Definition Imaging (HDI) waveguide horn (also of the kind found in JBL’s pro monitors), for controlled dispersion and pinpoint soundstaging. The geometrically precise horn and the speaker baffle plate are a single unit molded of matte-black Sonoglass, fiberglass-based material with superior acoustical properties.

Maximum flexibility

The asymmetrical nature of the SCL-2’s driver array means you can install it with the high-frequency driver nearer the top or the bottom, for ideal placement higher or lower on the wall. Or install an SCL-2 horizontally as a center channel. The paintable, magnetic grille blends into any décor, and the SVL-2 can disappear when installed sans grille behind an acoustically transparent projection screen in a dimmed room.

Maximum synergy

The spec sheets will tell you the SCL-2s stand alone in any fine home theater setup. And they do. But they really shine when paired with the sonically similarly siblings SCL-3s and SCL-4s above and around, and one or more S2S-EX subs.
