Product Information

The 100 OD6 loudspeakers have reaped the rewards of Focal's expertise and deliver high quality sound playback in outdoor environments. Just like the other models in the 100 Series range, they contain Focal technologies with an Aluminum inverted dome tweeter and a Polyglass treated bass/mid-range speaker driver at the source of their acoustic performance. These loudspeakers have been designed for extreme weather conditions and have received IP66 certification, meaning they are highly resistant to bad weather. They have been manufactured around a high-density polypropylene cabinet, with an Aluminum grille, and have a reinforced Aluminum bracket so it can be fixed securely either vertically or horizontally. Available in a ready-to-paint black or white finish, they have also had a UV protection treatment.

Are these speakers weatherproof?

Hello, I am playing around with a raspberry PI amp2 that is rated 60w @ 4ohm. The manufacturer claims it will be enough to drive speakers @ 8ohms but I value your judgement greatly. We plan to use these speakers on our front porch area 12x14. I'm not looking to play any neighbors concerts just looking for responsive sound. Will this amp @ 25ish watts drive The speakers well enough or do I consider a better amp? I am trying to balance a fun project and nice sound. Please let me know.

  Thanks for your question. Is your front porch system fully independent of any other stereo system in your home? We do not sell Pi products so we are not familiar with their full capabilities. Outdoor speakers typically need a little more power due to the fact that there are no room boundaries reflecting sound back into the room. An amplifier capable of 30 watts RMS per channel at 8 ohms, both channels driven, 20 to 20K Hz at less than 1% THD would be satisfactory. Any outdoor speaker can be driven into amplifier clipping at lower relative loudness than an indoor speaker. The Focals will fill the porch with great sound. Just be conscious of amplifier clipping and the damage it can cause.

  The speakers use push spring terminals with silicone protection. Push the red or black connector and insert striped, twisted speaker wire into the hole.
