Esotar Forty

The new Esotar Forty tweeter maximizes airflow for even more refinement, while its low resonant frequency smooths the transition to the woofer. This DSR precision-coated 28mm soft-dome tweeter is unique to the Special Forty.

17cm Woofer

Dynaudio's best 17cm woofer yet. It's based on what you'll find in the Confidence and Evidence ranges and uses a sophisticated hybrid magnet system for lower distortion and higher power. 

Classic Dynaudio crossover

Phase Alignment and Impedance Alignment technologies keep this classic Dynaudio crossover topology firmly on top of its game. This is a variant of the first-order crossover used in other classic two-way speakers – and its performance borders on the mesmerizing.

Special finishes

The Special Forty's exclusive Black Vine finish is a striking contrast of dark veneer shot through with vivid orange.

There's a reason they have "Special" in the name
After an hour and a half demo of this and two other speakers, the Special Forty was the clear winner for me. The level of detail that can be heard with these speakers is truly Special. I am also impressed with how low these speakers can go to be a bookshelf. I honestly thought I was going to purchase the Evoke 30 (also a really good speaker), but the Special Forty just had a little something extra. If you are looking for a bookshelf speaker for two channel listening, I would highly recommend that you demo these along with whatever other speaker you are considering.
Finally, I would like to thank Rob and WWStereo for having a proper setup to demo speakers and other equipment. The lost art of customer service is something that you can't always get in big box stores.
My speakers are the Black Vine finish.

I have a Denon 8500HA. 150W/channel at 8ohms. Class AB. Will that be sufficient to drive these?

  Thanks for your question. The Dynaudio Special 40 will benefit from the high dynamic range capability of the Denon amplifier and the speakers 6 ohm rated impedance which allows the amp to produce slightly more power per channel into a 6 ohm load.
