High Power 85W Integrated Amplifier

Power your loudspeakers with the Denon PMA-800NE integrated amplifier. Engineered with remarkable Denon amplifier technology, the PMA-800NE delivers 85 watts of power-per-channel into 4 ohms. This integrated amplifier offers compatibility with the widest range of speaker types and impedances for operational stability.

Advanced High Current (AHC) Single-Push-Pull Circuit

Enjoy powerful sound with detailed, musical accuracy. The PMA-800NE incorporates AHC transistors with two-to-three times the electrical current supply capacity of conventional audio power transistors.

High-Grade Audio Components

Denon engineers carefully constructed the amplifier circuit within the PMA-800NE to secure a frequency response of up to 100 kHz during applied use. The volume circuit suppresses noise in the amplifier, achieving high sonic resolution. The PMA-800NE handles a wide, dynamic range of high-resolution audio sources with tone control and power throughout.

Build Integrity with Thoughtfully Selected Components

With more than a 100-year legacy of designing premium audio components, trust that your Denon product has undergone rigorous testing. The overall aesthetic, sound quality and design integrity of PMA-800NE and its Hi-Fi components are built to last.

Analog Mode

Analog Mode allows the PMA-800NE to operate as a purely analog amp, disabling coaxial, digital, and optical digital inputs while you listen to an analog source. Turn on Analog Mode to close power to the dedicated digital power source and stop operation of the digital input circuity, avoiding any high frequency influence on the analog section of the PMA-800NE. Enjoy your favorite analog sources with uninhibited clarity and detailed reproduction.

MM and MC Phono Equalizer

The PMA-800NE includes a phono equalizer that supports input from both MM and MC cartridges. This phono equalizer has high gain, and unlike loops in other circuit board patterns which cause adverse effects on sound quality, the simple, straightforward design of the PMA-800NE phono equalizer significantly improves sound.

Direct Mechanical Ground Construction for Pristine Sound

Vibration-resistant design reduces the adverse audio effects of heavy components within amplifiers so sound quality meets Denon standards. The power transformer — which is the largest vibration source among amplifier components — is outfitted with a 1.6mm thick steel plate to the mount, suppressing vibration created by the transformer as well as external vibration toward the transformer. By directly supporting the transformer with a steel plate, the vibration surrounding the chassis is reduced resulting in pristine sound.

Optical and Coaxial Digital Inputs

The PMA-800NE features three Optical inputs and one Coaxial input and supports PCM signals up to 192 kHz/24 bit. These digital inputs help to improve sound and visual quality of your TV audio, Blu-Ray, media players, and more. Also use it to input high-resolution sound from an audio source on your computer.

Main Transformer with Individual Wiring

To eliminate interference and maintain exceptional sound quality, the main power transformer of the PMA-800NE has separate coiled wires for the audio and control circuits. An integrated micro-processor features Stop Mode for even greater sound quality while you listen.

Micro-Processor Stop Mode

The micro-processor of the PMA-800NE features a Stop Mode that automatically ceases all operations of the micro-processor when it’s not needed for playback. By stopping the oscillation of the micro-processor clock during these listening moments, the audio signal is protected from external noise and enhances sound quality.

Signal Level Divided Construction (S.L.D.C.)

The Signal Level Divided Construction (SLDC) chassis developed by Denon is used in the audio circuit to ensure that delicate musical signals are faithfully amplified and transmitted to the speakers. Listen with exemplary quality, every time.

100+ Years of Firsts in Audio Technology

Founded in 1910, Denon has a deep heritage of “firsts” in audio technology — from Japan’s first audio electronics manufacturer, to producing the world’s first commercial CDs. This focused investment in audio R&D ensures you get the latest technology and highest quality with every listening experience.

Review is a bit nitpicky. Overall, good amp for the money. Good sound, good features. I enjoy it a lot. A definite upgrade from a receiver. This was apparent from the first second I plugged it in. Don't know if you would be getting much better at this price point. It's really a Ford Chevy Dodge sort of thing. You are buying from one major brand or another for an AB integrated at this price point. Pick your poison sort of thing.
Noisefloor is a bit higher than I would have liked although I am using this for a desktop. Perfectly acceptable for the price and a speaker amp.Speakers get plenty loud at 9-11 oclock. Noise really only starts to become audible after 1 oclock with source direct and RCA in's. Source direct off does add to the noisefloor. YMMV based on how you have this setup. DAC is meh at best. Strong buzzing in left channel, had slightly better quality running a $100 DAC into the RCA's, biggest issue is the noisefloor though. Realistically more than enough power for anything that you would ever want to throw at this. Don't feel wanting for resolution or clarity, unless you are throwing some extreme super extreme Hi-Fi stuff at this, this amp will do great. It does have a warm signature so look elsewhere if you are looking for neutral sound, although I don't know how much better you are going to do for $600 with an integrated. Headphone out is thoroughly enjoyable, warm, bassy, and fun and is a great compliment to any clean an analytical headphone AMP. Headphone dependent you can get noisefloor issues starting in the range of volume that you need to get your cans loud enough. Noticed it on my 250ohm DT1990's but not on my 32Ohm M-100's or my low impedance planars or 300 Ohm 650's so IDK where exactly the issue lies. Normally noisefloor it's an impedance thing.

Beware of Denon's warranty and customer service. You are responsible for shipping to the service center if there is any issues within warranty. This was a bit disappointing to find out about. I had to ask these questions early on because when plugging into the Recorder input RCA's nothing plays out of the recorder outputs. Every other RCA in works with the recorder output just not the recorder input. For reference the recorder output is just a simple line level out with a different name, nothing special. Furthermore, Denon does not have the best customer service. When I tried detailing this issue to multiple reps, one hung up on me (more accurately "transferred me" to nothing). He was adamant that the issue was due either to my use case or it was an 'encoding issue'. How an RCA passthrough with no DSP or DAC intervention can be an 'encoding issue' is anyone's guess. I don't expect much from Denon CS , but come on, an 'encoding issue' its just an RCA passthrough. Multiple reps also tried to tell me the issue was because I was using it as a line level sub out. It's not. It works fine if you run this from a preamp. They are comically bad for anything other than basic setup instructions. That is unless you get escalated, in which case they start becoming fairly competent.

Looking for a just right amp to work for my desktop system. CD, Phono, Streaming, Bass Guitar with probably 50% headphone use. Have a variety of speakers to try but am set on my CD player and turntable. Have tried numerous amplifiers over the past years and I finally came across the right one for me. This Denon has exactly what I need and no annoying extra features I don't want to pay for. The sound quality is very good. Excellent imaging and control. I don't need a lot of volume but the power rating seems accurate and always nice to have headroom.
I have tried around 11 or 12 amps in this setup. Tube, hybrid, high end, mid-fi, Class A. I honestly like this amp most, as it is more well rounded. Does everything great. The headphone amp is excellent and has plenty of gain to drive any of my headphones and the phono preamp is very nice as well. Really there isn't anything I dislike about this amp. Well, I guess the front could be easier to read?
My first and looks like not my last Denon product.

Can't beat the performance at this price
We needed a new stereo amp, that would let us connect all of our analog machines and our digital ones, with enough power for bigger speakers down the road. We needed it to be somewhat compact, so it could fit in the available space. The PMA-800NE fulfills all of our needs, and then some! It also has a MM/MC phono stage, which is very rare for this price point. I've been using this amp for about 2 weeks, listening to HD FM, HI-Res digital files, Vinyl LP's, VHS and cassette tapes, etc. Everything sounds better than before.

a few things to take note of:

I decided to turn down the treble - the speakers I'm using have great high end, which was fine with the old amp, but I prefer to reduce the treble when using this amp.

The "Pure Direct" and the "Analog Mode" functions are excellent, especially when listening to a high-quality analog source (such as my HD FM tuner).

The remote control is a bit limited; you have to use the front panel knobs and buttons for anything other than input selection, mute, and volume. This is the only real complaint I can make about the 800NE, and it's not much of an issue.

I really like this amp!

Also I'd like to thank the staff @ World Wide Stereo - they were very helpful to us!
