Full featured, value priced, decent quality.
(Purchased from Best Buy) Super value priced for use in my office two-channel music system. Program sources are Apple AirPlay streaming, HEOS, Internet radio, FM and occasionally audio CDs. Blue tooth capability will be a back-up to Apple Airplay. After brief burn-in, I am very pleased with my choice. I have set the tone profile to Pure Direct. This is not a top-end receiver, but it is also priced at 1/20 the cost of a McIntosh receiver. As a value proposition, it does the job - admirably.

Best Amplifier for a top system
I purchased the amplifier for my home entertainment to go with my older Denon speakers and allow an HDMI link to a Roku and Apple streaming system. The installation was a breeze and the sound is amazing.

Amazing sound, what you'd expect from a Denon
The amp is equally important as the speakers. When my older stereo amp died, i bpught this unit to replace it, and i have fallen in love with my music collection all over again. I was missing the details that the Dolby PL II was pushing out to my Klipsch reference speakers to a 5:1 configuration. Regardless if you are a novice or a music audiofile, you won't be disappointed. Im reminded that you get what you pay for, and this receiver is worth the extra few bucks.

The directions for setting up could have been better. A paper manual would also help.

Versatile Value Champion
I have been living with the S660h for 8 months. Liked all the conveniences of HDMI CEC, Audyssey, HEOS w/AMAZON MUSIC HD, superb TV audio processing, but thought I could do better with another amp for 2.1 music listening. Bought a Marantz integrated. Music was incrementally better but the overall experience is much better with the S660H. I returned the Marantz. I'm convinced the S660H defines the budget hi-fi receiver.

My AV Receiver Upgrade
I heard about Denon from a friend about 20 plus years ago. At the time I had an AV surround sound receiver and refused to change. I tried this unit above and now I can understand how much better and clearer the sound is. With WiFi and Bluetooth, the Denon apps and the Heros, I'm hooked. My skeptic wife, now love to watch ball games and movies in my Man Cave.

After doing research and looking into a new A/V receiver. I thought this was the best for my budget but still give me what I was looking for out of an A/V Receiver.

Can this be used with a Bose Acoustimass 5 SERIES III which has a bass module and 2 satellites?
PeterJS on May 28, 2022
Thanks for your question. The Bose system may be safely connected to the front left and right speakers. Consult the Bose owners manual for connecting the module and two speakers. Note that a dedicated powered subwoofer and a pair of larger full range speakers would be more effective if using the AVRS660H in a 5.1 surround sound configuration.
I have 6 speakers and a woofer that have bare wires which av receiver would be recommended?
A shopper on May 22, 2022
Thanks for your question. The Denon AVRS650H will accommodate 5 wired speakers (fronts, center, and two surround speakers). If your subwoofer has just a two wire connection it is very likely a passive, unpowered sub and is not compatible with the Denon. The Subwoofer output on the Denon is for connection to a dedicated powered subwoofer.
Can you just output the front speakers alone?
Mark D on Apr 24, 2022
Thanks for your question. The SVRS960H has multiple Sound Modes (page 97 in owners manual). Select Stereo sound mode: this mode plays 2-channel stereo audio with no additional surround sound processing. Sound is output from the front left and right speakers, and subwoofer if connected. When multi-channel signals are inputted, they are mixed down to 2-channel audio and are played back with no additional surround sound processing.
