Purchased this unit to replace a 12-year-old Denon that lost one of its speaker channels. The new unit was very easy to setup, on screen prompts were excellent to follow. The only issue, albeit minor, is that my DirecTV remote and Samsung TV remote seem to confuse the 3700's zone 1 power off. Had to figure out that you turn the DirectTV on first and then the Denon. The Denon remote is really easy to use and understand switching from zone 1 to zone 2. I was concerned that zone 2 audio would not work with the Monster speaker distribution unit connected to speakers in 4 other rooms. Tested one room at time and all rooms received audio without any issue. Note speakers in other rooms are connected to Niles volume controls. So now we have full sound though out the house. The Blue Tooth connection to our IPhone, which holds all our music files, was really easy to setup and steam to the Denon. We also connected a laptop computer using HDMI input on the Denon and that too works great - we can surf the net and stream You Tube to the Samsung TV which sounds great using the 5.1 surround sound setup in the family room. This unit is perfect for our needs.
What can i say. It's just great. Upgraded from an older Denon I've had for years. And the 3700 blows it out of the water. I was able to add 4 ceiling Atmos speakers now and it sounds amazing. Definitely worth the money. Glad i choose Denon again. Highly recommend.
Great sound, improved clarity on the television, and another great Denon product. I upgraded from an older Denon AVR system and enjoy running on the nine channels versus the previous seven. The sound quality is first-rate and movies come alive with the Denon AVR-X3700H receiver. Denon products have always impressed.
I upgraded from AVR-X1600H 7.2-Channel to the 3700H and WOW... my 9.2 has awakened! I have the 12 and 10 sub to complete and this thing has way more power so settings roughly the same just fine tuning after Audigy completed. Love the Denon gui so much better the what I had on the 3700. currently have a Xbox series X and a Roku 4k plugged in with the ARC channel and 2160P all around looks great. Setup was too easy since they walk you through it. Take your time never rush during setup. Just follow the steps. Ira Segall is the man!! awesome customer support!
At this point it's too early to give a full review of this product. The initial is all I can respond to at this point. I've had this for a couple weeks now and lets say the setup took a little bit of time but honestly not that bad. My setup is a pair of Jamo s809 towers with the s89 center and a pair of bookshelf s83s for surrounds and an old Onkyo sub. The system is absolutely fun to listen to and watch movies and TV on. The quality of life upgrades like being able to use my LG TV remote to control the basic functionality of the AVR is fantastic compared to my old Onkyo from a decade ago. The 4k 120hz and 8k is fantastic, although it should have more ports with that built in. After set up with room correction it's just really really nothing but good things to say about the quality of the Denon sound. Gimme that all day every day and I'll be happy. So, there's more to dig into for sure, but for a too soon too short review, just buy it if it meets what you need in terms of specs and fits your budget, it's great for that if nothing else.
Buying the AVR 3700 was only logical seeing as I upgraded my TV to the LG OLED, my speakers to Klipsch, and having the Xbox series X and PS5. The Denon has the inputs and power needed to run my setup almost flawlessly...There's just that one issue...The 4K@120hz in the Series X. Seems my receiver needs the adapter from Denon for my Series X to pass thru correctly...I basically game in 4K@120hz on my Series X...so when I couldn't get it to work straight out of the box, I had to order the adapter from Denon...That's basically the reason for the four stars...Other than that, the 3700 is amazing!
Rich, powerful, and detailed sound for your movie experience! Clear, precise, and full bodied sound for your music listening; the Denon AVR-X3700H is an all around winner and best audiophile bang for your hard earned buck!
Great AV Receiver with Pre-outs, Save yourself $$$
The Denon AVR-X3700H R arrived in brand new like condition with no issues. It arrived in a generic shipping box but came with all the original manuals, remote, and accessories. Definitely recommend Denon refurbished AVRs especially at the price. This receiver sells for $1599.00 originally, thanks Denon!
Great receiver. I wish it was integrated with amazon Alexa, where you didn’t have to use an echo dot. Other than that, I am really enjoying the unit. Much better receiver than the Sony I had before. I also upgraded my speakers to Definitive and what a difference. You can really hear the instruments. Almost like being at a concert live.
I was actually looking for a pre-amp for my home theater setup but reading reviews and keeping expenses in mind the x3700 appeared to fill all my needs and desires. I would have given this unit 5 stars (now that it is working quite well) the setup process, especially the lack of better documentation (I did download the manual) gave me some difficulties, especially on the video end. Sound-wise, especially with Audyssey, the unit is great. I must add that the support from Denon has been first class. My on-line questions were always answered promptly and they helped me resolve all setup issues. Heat issues that I read about, has not been a problem, as the unit sits on top of a cabinet, not inside, so there is plenty of ventilation. It is warm to the touch after hours of operation. I am still exploring everything this unit has to offer and am quite satisfied.
I just replaced an older Denon with the AVR-X3700H because my older version wasn't internet capable and was not 4K/8K capable, Audyssey setup was a breeze. I'm running Ascend Acoustic speakers and a HSU Sub. the sound is amazing for Music and movies. I had a couple of technical questions and Denon answered them promptly.
I replaced a yamaha rxa 1080 and I'm very disappointed..the yamaha has way more options to have any sound you want and the yamaha sounds better. Alo the x3700 is losing signal constantly and I have to keep turning it on and off. Probably going to return it. Got it because I wanted 9 Channel I should have just purchased an exterior amp for the yamaha. Its a shame I really wanted to like it!
This is my first Denon. I'm happy with it so far. The setup was pretty straight-forward, connecting to my system over e-Arc from the TV to a 5.1.4 speaker setup. The sound for movies, shows and games is great. I haven't played around with stereo music too much yet, but out of the box the sound seems great there too.
For a couple of months this was great. Then I did a recommended firmware update which failed and completely killed the ability to connect to my network wireless or ethernet and created some issues switching video sources. Very disappointed that there doesn't seem to be a manual firmware update or recovery option.
Purchased from Best Buy in May 2021. Already broken Jan 2022. Will not power on. Now I need to do a warranty repair. I need to pay for shipping. I did recommend this product to a friend and now I regret it. I will not again. The quality of the brand is not what it used to be.
Just purchased this receiver only had it for two weeks but im here to tell you its great sounding receiver was a Pioneer guy not anymore only concern i have it gets hot purchased a fan to keep it cool i have two bas x amps connected to my receiver what a difference
I am a technically challenged old man who likes to crank up the volume and listen to rock and watch movies. The AVR-3700H setup was seamless even for me. My one major criticism is "save the trees" requiring me to download a manual, PDF format which has 313 pages. I am old school and admit, I dont like paper except for manuals.
Yes, it sounds great and has a nice sound stage. However, periodically when I switch inputs, the new input will result in a "no signal" message on the tv. If I switch back and forth once or twice, then it will usually connect. I have tried new HDMI cables. My cables and all firmware on my system are up to date.
I love it my first avr n I'm 40 I'm a bass man so I love deep bass I have 2 klipsch 12 powered n sounds good added external amp with 2 more skar D 4 s lol the avr quit on me jus got too hot I'm going to need a fan cooler asap thanks telling my people bout the 3700 thanks
It was time to upgrade from my Onkyo after six years. Spent the time needed to research other manufacturers and I kept coming back to Denon. The setup was very easy and it seemlessly transitions from different inputs flawlessly.
I'm Happy with my new Denon Avr-x3700h the sound is amazing and video is great the only thing thant I'm not satisfied is the remote control I have been problem with setup button my tv don't show settings on the screen when pushing set up button I need help
Perfect feature set, audyssey works great, and I love that it has a full preamp mode that shuts off the power amps and lets me just use the preamp outs while still getting the benefit of modern well-tested equipment as far as HDMI 2.1, eARC, atmos, etc are concerned. All the praise I read before buying is accurate and warranted.
So far so good. Had it about a month, sounds good. Good features. I have two 5 Polk Speakers on it, 4 x plus a sub. I can only run it about 80% and it starts getting hot. I would be afraid to run it above 80% so it could use a little more power. Volume is a bit low. Sound quality is excellent. THD is a bit higher across the board these days compared to the 70's maybe we measure better now, we had scopes back then as well.
Sounds good. Wish the preamp outputs were fully flexible. Can only use LF RF preamp out in 11.2 mode or all preamp outs on and cannot use the built in amps. So far unable to register X3700H on Denon web site. First model was not in list now in list but not clickable. Can enter other models but not the AVR X3700H.
As the title suggests, the work around for a $1500 receiver to do what it says on the box, is to give you an extra box (requiring you to plug it into a power outlet and use an extra hdmi cable). Luckily it only took 6 months from my initial request to receive it. Very speedy. Mind you the site said 10 - 14 days. The company never reached out, however, I did three times. Is this the kind of service I would recommend to a friend? Naw.
Works as advertised. Setup is straightforward, if not easy. Features are more than anyone would ever need. I still haven't run Audyssey because my speakers are not permanently placed. I wish there was a parametric EQ option for finer tuning. Purchasing through Denon's website is a nightmare with login issues. I could never log in again with my original account. The password reset link doesn't work saying my account does not exist, but that my email is not available for a new account. Turning off pop-up blockers helped, but it was an overall poor experience I would not recommend.
Nice AVR. All the bells and whistles I can handle!
Been looking at this since it came out. A little pricier than I normally go for. But I kept upgrading my AVR every few years to keep up with TV technology (720, 1080p, 3D, etc. So this time with a 4k TV upgrade, thought I would buy looking ahead. Since this one will "handle" up to 8K, figured I could spend "future upgrade money" now. Wi-fi, blue-tooth, Amazon Alexa features were nice. Lot's of connections (including legacy stuff). But am curious about one thing missing. Would probably only be for an old school user who liked to record music to his tape deck. I don't see any RCA audio "out" jacks, only in. So while I can play my Tape collection, I have to use older receiver (or some other work around) to make new tapes. And yes I know that is not a mainstream media anymore, but I still listen to tapes in my Yukon. Not a show stopper, but in case any other old timers at there, FYI. Oh, and get a cooling fan. This thing gets hot!
