Designed with Passive Bass Radiators

Definitive Technology is well-known for its use of passive bass radiators.

Passive bass radiators enable subs to play as loud and low as a ported sub without unwanted port noise distortion. And they deliver a smooth frequency response like a sealed sub, but with the port-like ability to play louder and lower in a smaller enclosure.

Descend’s 3XR (Three Times Radiators) Architecture pairs two passive bass radiators with the sub’s active woofer (see above). Within this unique architecture, both passive radiators and the woofer are the same size, creating three times the bass radiating surface area compared to a single-woofer ported or sealed design. The Descend DN8 8” subwoofer, therefore, creates the same amount of bass as a 10” ported or sealed subwoofer. And so on.

Because of their 3XR Architecture, Descend subwoofers create louder, clearer bass than another similarly-sized subwoofer. With Descend, you always get more of what you’re looking for.

Dynamic & Efficient

The custom amplifiers within Descend Series subwoofers were designed to get the most out of Descend’s unique 3XR™ Architecture. Optimized for efficiency and strict avoidance of distortion, Descend’s amps deliver consistently dynamic performance with the ability to push hard for maximum impact when needed.

Class H Digital Amplification with Sliding Rail Voltage

The Descend DN12 and DN15’s advanced 1500W peak Class H digital amplifier delivers ample continuous power to cleanly reproduce sustained bass below 20Hz. With real-time monitoring driving adjustments to its sliding rail voltage, it delivers considerably higher power during short, transient peaks such as bass drum kicks and on-screen artillery blasts. For extraordinarily impactful bass that can be felt in the chest, the DN12 and DN15 will thrill users to no end.

Premium Performance

As the most advanced subwoofers that Definitive Technology has created, Descend DN12 and DN15 employ additional features that help ensure your bass is always completely in sync with your system, your room and whatever you’re watching.

Patent-pending Intelligent Phase Control

Intelligent Phase Control (IPC) is a dynamic phase adjustment system developed by Definitive Technology. It provides a full 360 degrees of phase adjustment, always centered around the settings of the low-pass filter. This provides the ability to tune the subwoofer to the room for minimal group delay between speakers and a better blending experience between your speakers and the subwoofer.

Advanced 56-bit Digital Signal Processor

The 56-bit DSP tightly monitors and controls the woofer system to prevent distortion and woofer damage at high volumes. With the DSP’s built-in performance EQ modes (Flat, Loud and Deep), the DN10 and DN15 can be customized to accommodate room acoustics and listening preferences. This gives users the ability to custom configure the system’s bass performance and system integration regardless of volume levels.

Massive, Impactful Bass

With a bass-producing surface area, three times the size of its driver, a Descend Series subwoofer brings a huge, uncompromising low end to movies, games and music. Don’t be scared. Turn it up.

Thrilling Music & Movies

Because Descend subwoofers play louder than expected with no port noise-induced distortion, they’re optimized to reproduce the most detail, dynamics, and impact from movies and music alike.

Easily Configurable

The rear panel of Descend Series subwoofers allows the user to fine-tune the phasing, volume and EQ of the sub. The DN12 and DN15, with their included remote control, advanced phase and EQ features, and on-sub-LED display, add the ability to do much more. Either way, the bass is easily optimized for the system, your room, and the source, whether it be music or movies.

Custom Controllable

The DN12 and DN15 are loaded with custom integration features that make it easy to control the subwoofers via leading automation providers.

3XR™ Architecture for Loud & Clear Bass

Descend’s unique 3XR Architecture provides three times the bass-radiating surface area of traditional single-driver subwoofer designs. It provides the benefits of a ported system (i.e., more output from a smaller box) without the disadvantages of a ported system (i.e. port noise). Descend subwoofers, therefore, play louder, lower, and cleaner than competitive designs.

Proprietary Technology that Drives Performance

The Descend lineup features proprietary high-performance technology beyond its unique 3XR Architecture including custom Class D or Class H amplification, new patent-pending Intelligent Phase Control, a 56-bit DSP that includes three EQ modes, and tons of other control features. These technologies complement the 3XR Architecture to ensure uncompromised, dynamic, impactful, deep bass that can be customized to your system, the environment, and whatever you’re listening to.

Three Decades of Thrilled Customers

While Descend is the most advanced subwoofer line we have produced, it’s only the latest in a long history of consumer-pleasing Definitive Technology subwoofers (including the Pro Sub and SuperCube lines). Definitive Technology has been thrilling movie and music enthusiasts for decades with top-selling, high-performance, high-value subwoofers that consistently deliver deep, impactful, dynamic bass.
