Product Information

Hands Free; Ears Free

Sure, you want music with you at all times. But you don’t always want to slap on headphones and shut out everything else around you. You don’t have to. The new SoundWear Companion speaker was designed for you. This wearable speaker offers the best of both worlds—convenience and connection—in a way that allows you to be present with your music as well as your surroundings. It rests comfortably on your shoulders, with sound that is full and clear to you—yet minimizes the sound for others. And with legendary waveguide technology at its core, that performance is easy to trust.

Great Battery Life

Plays up to 12 hours. A quick 15-minute charge gives you up to 3 hours.

Sweat and Weather Resistant

Don’t worry about a little rain or a lot of sun. This wearable can take it.

Vibrations for Incoming Calls

Haptic alerts are a discreet way to notify you of incoming calls.

Bluetooth Connectivity

Wireless Bluetooth pairing made easier with voice prompts.

Wearable Tech - With a Familiar Twist

With some wearables, it’s fashion before function. Not in this case. Every part of this speaker is meticulously engineered for better sound. But even a groundbreaking product can benefit from a proven technology—like Bose's waveguide technology. So they used two 11" waveguides to pump out what other wearable speakers don’t—deep, rich sound.

Surrounded in Sound; Aware of Your Surroundings

Put it on. Walk around. Take a call or ask Siri a question. This speaker gives you freedom from your devices and keeps you closer to your surroundings at the same time.

A Long History of Innovation

It’s interesting, when you look back on it. Stereo speakers that reproduced more sound from the back of the speaker than the front.

Compact, single-speaker stereo systems that replaced stacks of equipment.

Noise cancelling headphones that changed just about everything.

These are just a few of the breakthroughs Bose introduced in their long history of innovation. Until you tried one of these, you likely couldn’t know how much of a difference it would make.

Swappable, Stretchable, Durable

The speaker isn’t the only thing Bose obsessed over. The custom designed covers are acoustically transparent, so nothing gets in the way of the sound. Static free so your hair and clothing don’t cling to it. And four-way stretchable so it fits the speaker snugly. Your speaker includes a Black cover.

Bose Connect App

Control your SoundWear speaker’s Bluetooth connections and manage bass adjustments easily through the Bose Connect app. The app also provides product tips and lets you personalize your settings, so you can make them

A cool piece of sound echnology!
Just received SoundWear as a gift. First off as a gift the packaging was very high end giving one the initial impression that this is a high quality item!

They are great to listen to music (Pandora) while doing other pc work and monitoring for incoming calls. The sound quality is great and your voice over the phone is also high quality, so nice for business calls when working at your desk

The only item I would fault is the placement of the control buttons. Being placed on the outside edge of the Soundware makes keyboard 'strokes' like pushing two buttons at once (mute a phone call) very difficult. If the buttons were on the inside edge of the Soundware it would be so much easier. Not a deal breaker however.

But another great BOSE product either way!

I received this product for my birthday and have worn it continuously for the past 3 days! I am totally immersed in the sound quality and the overall ease/use/sound quality! I’ve worn it to the car wash and the guys (all nd gals) who were standing around waiting for their cars to be done all came over and asked questions about the product and my overall experience. Had to rant and rave my total pleasure!

Man I tell ya, Bose out did themselves on this one!

I would be remiss if I didn’t add that I own 901’s down to 201’s, computer speakers, Wave Radio’s etc, and this is by far my (so far) my Favorite item from Bose!!!

Hey look, buy the system, with the return policy of Bose it’s simple to return. What do you have to lose?

Great sound and features
I own many bose speakers and headphones but I bought these because I need to be able to hear my elderly mother when at home without disturbing her. I can enjoy music, podcasts, audio books etc with good sound while still being able to hear her if she needs me.

If you haven’t tried this speaker it’s a really different experience. I have many Bose and other audio products and this by far is in a category of its own. I’ve been wearing this for a few days now and I can’t stop using it. The best uses for it I’ve found are around the house, in the car, some uses outside but maybe not appropriate for some offices. I’ve worked in more open environments that would have no problem with this speaker and wouldn’t bother the nearby coworkers. If you listen to podcasts but also like to stay connected to the outside world this is a must have. If you use speakerphone when making calls more than you should (as I do) this is for you. I constantly use speakerphone to where people around me bave asked me to leave or shut up.. I also listen to podcasts and music. I pretty much use some kind of audio device at all times of the day. This speaker is great for hooking up to the tv (via Bluetooth if your tv supports it). It has a lot of uses. Super versatile. The only thing I’ll make a comment about is that most modern pop songs and certain types of music just won’t sound all that great on these, if you like a lot of bass, like low bass, then these aren’t going to do that. The voice audio, highs, midrange, isolated audio, music at lower volumes, other well produced music and more classic genres like jazz etc sound incredible. The sound isolation is actually quite good for voice, I can keep it at a nice “speakerphone” volume and no one within 5 feet or so can even make out what the other person is saying. Same with podcasts, etc. so many great daily uses. But if you’re looking for this to be like a boom box on the shoulder that will give you punchy bass and lower ranges then this item might disappoint you. However because of the ingenuity, the sound clarity, and sound isolation this is a huge hit. It deserves 5 stars on the merits for what it is, not for what it “could” be. We might be a little ways off with even more isolation and even more frequency ranges, until then I’ll be using these as my go-to.

Awesome experience
I tried this unit at the Bose store and have to say, another WOW for BOSE!! I am not sure what some of the nay sayers are talking about, this product was just as described. A way to listen to quality music, easily and comfortably, without having to cover you ears or put ear buds in. No one ever promoted this as a way to keep your music just to yourself. There are noise cancelling products, as well as, headphones and ear buds for that. I find that this allows me to comfortably listen to my music while MINIMIZING the impact on those around me. I have several BOSE products and I can definitely see where this will fit into my day to day activities.
I for one find this product amazing!!! If I need more privacy, or do not want to disturb anyone around me, I use my noise cancelling ear buds. This product does have a niche and it fills it just fine!

Innovation at it's finest
These are a very innovative step for music of the future. Brilliant sound and design. Isn't uncomfortable even on a hot day. Sustainable battery life. Very luxurious design and quality. Makes listening to music more open so you are more aware of your surroundings. I am a music producer and prefer to produce, mix, and master with these on. I'd say these are worth your while if you like to listen to music with the option of just chilling around without wires or being in total audio isolation. Finally, the sound is so clear and crafty. It does get loud too so if you want to listen loud it still has great audio. Don't worry, your friends may be able to hear it a bit if played in public but listening at half volume or lower is just enough audio flare to heat up your soul with music. Thank you Bose.

Super device!
I received my SoundWear Companion Speaker yesterday and I love it! It's my seventh Bose product and I love each one. The quality just keeps getting better. My newest device has an amazing sound and my husband can watch TV while I listen to music without bothering him or having to wear headphones. So I can still hear timers and buzzers, etc. while I work. It's very easy to use and the instructions on the App are very clear. The piece is so light I hardly know it is around my neck. This feels like something out of the future; but Bose has it here today. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Great for its purpose, but limited usage scenarios
The Bose SoundWear Companion speaker offers a novel compromise between the personal listening of headphones, and spacial awareness of listening to speakers.

It sounds great - voices sing with energy, bass notes play deep (as deep as around 40 hz), and treble detail is good without being fatiguing. As with all other recent wireless Bose products, the SoundWear Companion features a low-volume bass boost, so the amount of bass is adjusted proportionally to how loud the volume is. This helps them still sound powerful at lower levels. At medium listening levels, the SoundWear forms a small "sphere of sound" around you, and that's quite a cool effect.

The general usage of the device is smooth as expected from any Bose product. Bluetooth connection is consistent and strong, and can go through a couple walls in a home. Battery life is just around the claimed 12 hours, depending on how loud you listen to them. Also the option to adjust the amount of bass in the Bose Connect App is very nice, although I preferred the default setting. Play/Pause buttons work on both iOS and Android, and the speaker can connect to two devices at once.

So... on paper the Bose SoundWear is great. However, I found myself struggling to find good opportunities to use the SoundWear. While driving, road noise kills all of the bass in the sound, and the car stereo ends up sounding better. While commuting on public transportation, the SoundWear broadcasts sound to everyone, and there is still the same problem with losing bass, and I'd rather use my QC35s. While exercising, the SoundWear will not stay put if you are doing anything that has upper-body movement, so I'd rather use my SoundSport Wireless earbuds. The only instances I thought the SoundWear was the best method of enjoying sound were: while walking around the house doing light tasks, and biking early in the morning when few people are around.
BUT, I am very fortunate to have several fantastic audio devices for specific purposes, that is part of the reason I couldn't find that much use for the SoundWear. However for anyone who has not yet experienced wireless audio, or generally enjoys listening to music through speakers rather than headphones, I would strongly urge at least giving the SoundWear a try. Perhaps they're not for me, but surely they would be perfect for many others.

Some other random thoughts:
1) When listening at lower levels, the "sound sphere" disappears and it just sounds like listening to two speakers under your neck... which is exactly correct, but the experience is much different, and not as enjoyable. For this reason I wouldn't really want to listen to the SoundWear at less than 1/4 volume. Keep that in mind if you won't be able to use the product in situations where you can play the speaker at a decent volume.
2) I think the speaker sounds significantly better with the cover off. Everything immediately becomes so much more crisp. Higher frequencies are more energetic, and vocals ESPECIALLY become brighter and more detailed. The "sound sphere" effect is also better. However the cover increases the durability/longevity of the device, so I always feel conflicted as to whether I should keep the cover on.
3) If you enjoy singing along to your music, the SoundWear is FANTASTIC. Because sound comes from roughly the same place as your own voice, singing along to music playing through the SoundWear makes you think you sound a lot better as your voice blends in seamlessly with the professional singers' voices.

I like being able to say hi to people and and hear their response while I am out walking and this allows me to hear my "stuff" and still be part of the world making eye contact. Sometimes I crank it up and just set it on my dest as a portable great and the sound is amazing!

My husband is an audiophile, techie and Bose aficionado. Purchasing this as a birthday present and hoping it works for him. He usually wears headphones to listen to lectures and this may provide him more flexibility and comfort.
