I like the Monolith-type design in real life more than I thought I would. For such a small speaker the sound is fantastic. Especially the bass. I've had a few Wi-Fi speakers and this one is the best. Wireless streaming is flawless and sounds great.
I wish there was a choice of voice assistants and AirPlay, but for basic streaming from a music service this speaker is an excellent choice.
I’ve had my soundtouch 10 for close to 6 years now and it works and sounds just as good as it did the day i bought it!! GREAT value and i absolutely love it. Now thinking of getting another to use the pairing feature.
I have been listening to my 2 Bose speakers for a month now. I have used different apps to try and adjust the sound quality to no avail. I am so disappointed in this product and I really expected that with these speakers having the "BOSE" name, I would hear a nice deep beautiful sound. I did research several products before purchasing these speaker's and I even went to the store that I purchased them from to HEAR the sound of the speakers before purchasing. I bought 2 speakers to have the ability to hear the true authentic sound one would expect from "BOSE". I wanted to hear the deep rich under tones, and deep bass with every sound of the songs I listened to, to be distinguishable from each other, only to find sub-par sound coming from these speakers. I can not believe that these are BOSE. The volume of these speakers are less than I had hoped too. I am not sure why anyone would give anymore than a one star rating, but maybe they do not have the experience at true listening skills that I have developed over time. I have beyond excellent capabilities when it comes to hearing. So I can honestly say without hesitation these speakers only rate a one star and absolutely no more. BOSE engineer's, you have really failed here. Please go back to the drawing board and produce the quality of product this name should have. And to BOSE, sell this design to some off brand and move on. Thank you for reading. By the way, I am rating the other items 1 star even if I truly believe it does deserve more stars, because I absolutely do not want my rating of the other areas to distort the first and foremost rating, which of course is SOUND. I would like to note that the other areas, like ease of use, would get at least 4 stars, and my average star ratings, excluding sound quality, would rank a 3 to 4 star rating. So the other less important items are average, however, again to repeat myself, the only true measure should be about the sound quality, period.
I bought two of these units to have sound around my apartment. The sound is brilliant as you would expect from Bose. But The app and speaker firmware is diabolical to the point I am no longer using them and are looking to rival manufacturers to replace. The speakers seem to disappear from the App which struggles then to find them, even though music is still playing and controllable through the remotes. The volume controls don’t work from the app and swing to extremes causing disruption to everyone around us.
I did try to highlight all my issues with Bose support but got a very vanilla reply which was no help or support. They seemed more focused on giving a reply rather than actually tackling the issue. Must be a KPI to not have outstanding comments.
Very frustrated with this expensive purchase which will leave me not buying Bose in the future.
The audio was great. No question. Paired over Bluetooth easily and sounded good. I had bought a pair so that I could use them in stereo. This is when it went wrong. The setup via the app was terrible and I could not even paste my password in for the WiFi. It then wanted me to register an account just to complete any set up or look at/update the settings. Tried reaching out to support and got fragmented information. Useful but only to get to the "next step". Application limited to being on the same local network (for set up anyway) and was unable to secure them given there is a statement in the ELUA stating that they cannot guarantee they will not reduce the security of your network. Just gave up after a week and uninstalled all the software. Will use them as 2 separate wired or Bluetooth stand alone speakers.
The speaker regularly loses connection with Wifi, and will not immediately reconnect itself (unlike every other device in your home will reconnect itself). I have to do full, initial setup of the speaker every time it loses connection, which happens at least once a week. Support is responsive but blames my ISP or my router settings, despite the dozen other devices in my home that have no issue whatsoever with either one. The SoundCloud app will sporadically just stop being able to find the speaker. I've never had so many frustrations and issues with a tech device. This is an extremely disappointing Bose product, I regret buying it.
I would not recommend this if you are looking for a WiFi speaker. It sort of kind of works for some people, if you use it every day, and keep reminding it, by using it daily, otherwise it disconnects and you have to start all over. I bought 3 of these from 2 different vendors and have had the same problem. There are 3 fairly tedious methods for connecting via wifi. My experience with connecting is that I had to use all 3 methods, 3 times each, and at some point along the way, one of my attempts would be successful. This speaker is NOT ready for prime time. I'm trying sell mine now, and will wait until someone actually comes out with a workable WiFi speaker.
As for the other connection modes, bluetooth and direct, it is decent. But it's the quality you'd expect from an off the shelf $30-$50 Walmart BT speaker. Nothing fancy. Certainly not premium sound by any stretch.
I bought this because the brand has a good reputation. Sadly, it is possibly the most unreliable piece of audio equipment I have ever owned. The sound drops out constantly while playing music from any device ... mobile phone, laptop and iMac desktop. I feel it was a complete waste of money. Exceedingly disappointing.
I've had a pair of these speakers for over a year now. I have wasted an incredible amount of time on these things. They sound great in the store, but I can't really tell what they sound like at home, since they are totally unreliable. My home network runs at 175mbps in every room, yet the speakers won't connect reliably. If they connect, they won't pair. If they pair, they fade or only play one channel. After two months in service, one quit working altogether and had to be returned. You can only use Soundtouch 10 speakers with Bose proprietary software, which is bloody awful on Apple equipment running the most up to date Mac OS and iOS versions. If you buy these speakers, expect endless frustration.
Bought 2 about a year ago. The speakers sound good, presets work, aux works well with ipod. The Soundtouch 10 app is deficient. Everytime we use, it tells us to update. The update is never successful. You can skip to using speaker, but only after going through this excercise. I think part of the problem is the app controls the speaker from Bose website. Have same result with 2 different households and 5 different devices( laptops and cell phones). 1st time Setup is not easy either.
The app for soundtouch is not user friendly at all and I suspect buggy too. For example, i bought a new router, I do t see any easy to to update my wi-fi information. It tells me to connect to bose_xx thru wifi but it doesnt show up. Still struggling.
Bose's core competency of superior sound is not compromised though. But with the app not working propoerly, does leaves a sour taste
I’ve really enjoyed listening to my SoundTouch 10's. I think they’re an excellent product and a great value. The app works well and offers a huge variety of optional ways of playing music. The design, ease of use, and the sound is high-quality Bose. While they will get fairly loud, i don’t believe that was the design goal. For low to mid volume playing, they have very good low bass and excellent mid to high treble sound. I love the 6 preset buttons on both the speaker and the remote. I was so impressed with the one I bought, I quickly bought a second one, and pairing the two for stereo output has really pushed up much higher my listening pleasure. And if I want to separate the stereo pair and place one in another room with a different music source, it’s simple to do, and easy to pair them back up again. NOTE: I did have some early on challenges with device discovery (having the app find the SoundTouch). I always found the Bose Support Techs helpful and courteous, however, they would usually guide me through a reset of the speakers, which I could do myself, and they’d work for a while then start acting up again, and it was not until I spoke with one tech in particular that he resolved it in full. It was in the Wi-Fi router settings. One change had to do with channel selection, which other techs had tried, but also one other router change that the tech said this will solve the device discovery issues for sure. I wish I could tell you what setting that was, sorry. They work flawlessly now. The price has been lowered. Buy two! White is very attractive. Highly recommended!
Works if used constantly. Went on vacation and reconnecting to the speakers was a nightmare. Then I had to update my modem and now they don't work at all, Can connect as a stereo pair, Wish I had not bought these.
Let me start with I have never had better sounding speakers in my entire life. Let me finish with I have never had worst networking in my entire life. Clearly, these are going back. I sit there in bliss listening to music, then the disconnects start to happen. This can only be solved by starting the whole reset networking process over again. Then I need to set them again as a pair, because that’s where the pure beauty is.I then get 20 to 30 minutes of the best sound I’ve ever heard and I have to reconnect them all again. Over and over and over and over and over. I want to pour lighted fluid on these things and burn them.
bought 2 10's to pair with bose soundwave iv to acheive stereo. the good news is the speakers sound fantastic and split audio channels well. however when paired with bose soundwave you can not play radio.aux input or cd. there is no digital input simply analog. essentially you are limited to internet stations-your saved system music-pandora etc. my guess is the system is designed as a receiver rather than a player. also when you turn on again you must go throught the bose app to pair the speakers again-really annoying. hopefully bose will issue system update to allow aux play. would also like more than six presets on soundwave 1v. user instructions are non existent other than on line and somewhat arcane to say the least. again fantastic sound but not as advertised.
I wish I had never bought two SoundTouch 10 speakers. I seem to have about a 50% chance of the SoundTouch app finding the speaker every morning so I can begin playing music. If the app does find the speaker, there's about a 25% chance that I'll be able to play both the speakers. Also, I've noticed that if I connect to one of the SoundTouch speakers using Bluetooth, the app has a difficult time connecting to the speaker wirelessly the next time I try to use it.
Based on years of customer complaints in Bose's product support pages, the wireless connection issue has existed since these speakers came on the market and have never been resolved by Bose.
Save yourself the aggravation and avoid buying this speaker.
I have owned SoundTouch systems since 2015, and have continued adding on to original configuration over the years. I just installed a refurb10 for use on my patio. (Currently - 1x30 plus 6x10; 2 of the 10s are setup as stereo pair).
INSTALL: I have never had any problem installing or setup; I am not sure why others have had problems. So I was curious if this was a new problem as I added this new refurb unit this week. But worked flawlesslly thorugh the sounddtouch app.
SYSTEM FEATURES: In addition to sound quality, the features I love and use most: 1) stereo pair capability; 2) the 6 pre-set buttons for any apps, and now favorites ; 3) app partnerships are all the main apps - eg iHeart, tunein, Amazon, Spotify. 4) Spotify app is really cool because it allows you to run directly form the Spotify app or through Soundtouch app. Spotify app has expanded feature capabilty than through Soundtouch app, and you can add Soundoutch speaker as output device. 5) ability to add one or many speakers to same "station" through the app, and are perfectly linked as you walk from room to room - no reverb or delay
There are other features I do not use, but I have played with: bluetooth, Alexa, direct connect, PC music library. They all worked well.
We have enjoyed our system so much that we have given the speaker names to represent cruises and vacations we have been on, instead of "kitchen" or "family room". The attached photo is Barcelona.
I don’t even know where to begin. Updates every week that disrupt what little service I can get. Speakers stop playing in the middle of a song and as a massage therapist it’s pretty unacceptable. Constantly have to reconnect to Wi-Fi. Cannot create a speaker pair but each will play fine separately. The list goes on. Get a Sonos.
I bought this from Cosco. The demo in the store sounded fantastic, however when I brought it home, the app was useless, and bluetooth wouldn't connect. When I returned it to Cosco, the woman said they've had quite a few returns of the product.
Bought 2 sound link 10 and spent 6 hour trying to setup the speakers at first. The android app does not work very well on setup, had to use and old iPod touch i had laying around. Alexa skill does not work at all can not find them of play any content from echo or dot. Have wanted Bose speaks for years really disappointing on my first buy.
I loved my SoundTouch 20 so much that I decided it needed a "helper". Though it fills my living/dining area with sound quite easily I wanted something that would extend my listening pleasure into my adjacent 9 X 12 kitchen. This little speaker is perfect for that purpose. In some ways, it sounds a little better than it's big brother -- the treble is a little brighter and the upper bass has less boominess. But the larger ST20 provides much stronger bass and a reasonable stereo image for the larger rooms. When used together they fill my one-floor house with sound.
Both my SoundTouches work perfectly with the Bose app for my iPhone and iPad, but the Windows app on my PC is a different story. Also, I would suggest that Bose mention in their website that for best performance, a dual-band router really helps. Now that I've upgraded from my older single band unit, I have both my Soundtouches on the 5ghz band and it improves both the sound quality and stability of the connection.
I'm so pleased with both of these speakers that, who knows? Maybe I'll have a whole "family" of Bose Soundtouches around my house!
I was able to connect the speaker to wifi for a brief period of time, during which the speaker sounded great and we were happy. Upon the next use, we weren't able to reconnect. 2 hours of trouble shooting later (all the while reading how many people were having the same problem), we still can't connect the speaker. I have two of these turds, neither connecting to the app. I am fairly tech-literate and have successfully completed troubleshooting on countless devices, but am giving up on these wastes of time. What a dumpster fire of an app and app support. Back into the box they go. Thank god i was gifted these and didn't waste money on them.
I wanted a powered speaker to use with a scanner. The SoundTouch 10 does have great sound but it keeps going into standby mode when the scanner is quiet for a while. This makes the speaker nearly useless for me. Do you have a similar speaker that does not automatically go into standby mode?
Drops wireless connection at least twice a day for no reason. All my other devices have no problem. Resetting your router and speaker by unplugging is no answer for me. take a look at your Forum on this problem and seems that Bose has turned a deaf ear. Great sound WHEN it works. This problem goes all the way back to 2015. Its 2019!!!
On its way back for a full refund. Going to Sonos.
I have it since 2016 I have the SoundTouch 10 in my bedroom, the SoundTouch 300 soundbar in my family room and the SoundTouch adapter in my living room connected to my old system Bose 321 and work great. I have music all over my home. My only complaint is that the system don't support iTunes Music, I have all my music library in iCloud and is a little frustrating to hear them only via bluetooth in SoundTouch. Please let me know if you were planning to ad iTunes Music. With that my SoundTouch system would be awesome. Thanks
I have two pairs. The sound is beautiful, BUT setting them up and operating them is like pulling teeth. User unfriendly, and SO, SO unintuitive. Why doesn’t Bose turn over its software development to Apple? Also, Bose “updated” its software recently and in the process lost a great feature, to sort radio stations, not just by country and language, but also by type of music. I love to listen to classical music and I was able to easily identify such stations from around the world.
I bought this a year ago, everytime I try to use it I have to figure ok out why it's not working, usually I have to reinstall some software or some other problem needs to be identified. Bose don't want to help.
I have owned the Soundbar 300 for a year and have been very happy with it. I just purchased three of the Sound Touch 10s from refab. These did not work connecting to WiFi. Contacting Tech Support it was determined the units were all faulty. Support immediately processed replacements which I had in three days from delivering the three faulty units to UPS. These NEW units setup perfectly including loading the Firmware updates.
I am pleased that Bose has been updating their Firmware on all units to the betterment of the devices working in a system.
The App could use a little improvement.
Overall Bose is obviously committed to the new world of WiFi enabled Audio working with dynamic internet sources.
I am using this speaker from last 2 years and sounds are great here, but only issues I am facing, that I am not able to access imusic and amazon music through wireless soundtouch features. Pl do something for this.
I purchased a pair of SoundTouch10 speakers, installed the software on my almost new MacBook Pro, and although the Bose software would not allow me to play from iTunes (see other reviews), I adjusted. After about a month of good sound, the "stereo" speakers began sending sound from just one speaker and then the other going back and forth. I quit the program, but the music continued to play. I tried to force quit the program, but couldn't because the software wasn't running. I was really puzzled and called product support. I was told that I have to press pause before shutting down because the speakers actually get their input from the router and the program controls the router. OK, then I asked about the problem with the back and forth sound battle between the speakers. Again, I was told that it was the router (less than 6 months old and working fine in all other respects) was the problem. I was done with product support at this point. What I got from Bose is that everything on their end is fine. News flash...It's not. Bottom line: I need reliable speakers and reliable software, so I am returning these speakers for a refund.
so much issues with connecting it is not even funny!!!!! I have 4 throughout the house and just about each time there is extra half an hour of my time trying to get them to play music!!!!!! DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!!!
I own a Bose SoundTouch 10 and it is a great speaker and the bass is amazing but the vocals aren’t as great as the bass. I don’t think the vocals pop like they should in some songs but in every song the bass always pops.
i bought this like 6months ago the setup part was tuff but still i figured it out somehow and connectivity issues are still there i thought bose was quality in products and their technology but..... Anyhow the speaker stops randomly and plays it after 1 minute but does not do it on but nonetheless its a great speaker for listening music
I owned this two years or so. It's sound is not amazing kind of thing, but it fit very well for everyday just want-to-get-some-music-on-in-the-room kind of use. It is easy to use with Bluetooth, but other fancy radio preset things are not as handy as the playing through bluetooth. I do hope if this thing can pickup some volume so it can be heard with people talking in the room though.
This speaker was given to my husband and I as a gift. It Worked great for the first year then went downhill after that. Started with the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connection unable to connect then the speaker died.Trying to find an email for customer support and unable to. Very Disappointed as this speaker had great sound quality and I really loved it I just wished it had the longevity most Bose products have
I bought the speaker for my kitchen, I like the ability to connect via the sound touch APP and the ability to play music via the presets, I have a Bose Lifestyle 650 system the speaker connects to this. Meaning I can play music in my kitchen as well as the living room. It's a really powerful sound for such a small speaker. another quality speaker made by Bose, I plan to buy another one for my Bedroom very soon
Bose does a great job of delivering rich sound in small packages. I have the SoundTouch 10, 20 and sound bar for the TV. All deliver great sound. The preset keys provided a quick and easy method to access and play music which was one of the elements that made the decision to purchase the system as a whole. The drawback is on the connectivity. Setting the system up is easy, but it takes repeated setups to the wireless network due to the speakers losing the network. Support doesn't have an answer. The rating is purely a result of the issues around connectivity.
I never write reviews, but Bose put it out so its on them. I bought 2 Soundtouch 10s almost a year ago my office. I use Windows 10 and Android. The Android installation process was so quirky I thought I had a Beta version by mistake. When it did work, it was very unreliable but really limited in scope, The Win 10 (Surface Pro 3) just did not work. Period. Just software junk. Finally, done wasting otherwise productive time (which BOSE is free to reimburse me for lol), I stashed them both in the closet. But, ever the optimist , I broke them out yesterday and downloaded the apps and, although a broader range of functionality, they still suck. Such a disappointment from a company like this.
