Customer Reviews for Bose SoundSport Wireless Earbuds
+Sound quality is pretty great to my ears, but I'm no audiophile and haven't compared it to many other headphones.
+Quite comfortable to wear, even for extended periods of time. I actually like that they are corded together, because I can pull them out and let them hang draped behind my neck when somebody wants to talk to me. I wear these headphones a lot and I hardly ever feel like they're starting to bother me.
+Microphone quality when I use these for talking on the phone seems good compared to another wireless headphone I tried.
-Every time you turn them on there is a voice that says CONNECTED TO [name of device] AND [name of device 2] AND [etc]. The voice overrides all audio, including phone calls, which means you'll miss out on a few seconds of your phone call when you connect your headphones. I get why they added this voice, but I generally would prefer if it would just give a quick beep to indicate a successful connection and quickly start relaying the audio. At least give us the option to disable this voice. It also sometimes says it's connected to my laptop even when I'm grocery shopping or even in another country. :/
-Occasionally they don't connect to my device for some reason. Not too often, maybe a few times a month. Usually this just means waiting ~30 seconds longer or rebooting them.
-THE MOST IMPORTANT FLAW is that these headphones have failed three times now. The first pair broke a couple years ago when the controller module (containing volume control, pause/play, and the microphone) gradually came apart. Bose sent me a replacement, which lasted at least eight months or so, but then one day while using them to talk on the phone, they randomly stopped working for no discernible reason. I couldn't even get the charge light to turn on any more, it was just totally dead. The third pair was good until the past month or so: the battery capacity has suddenly and dramatically dropped. Some days it would only last an hour or so. Last gym visit, it only lasted 30 minutes after I had charged it fully (and one of my gym friends had the same problem with his soundsport also); again I reached out to Bose and they agreed to replace it.
Bose's support seems great since they have cheerfully helped me three times now. I wish the headphones lasted longer, but at least Bose has taken care of me when they have broken. It is frustrating because it takes about 10 days to get new headphones when you send the broken ones in. And I rely on my headphones a LOT--I use them when at the gym, or grocery shopping, or talking on the phone, or watering my plants, or jogging, etc. It's possible I use them somewhat more than the designers expected. But I think the amount of use I give them is reasonable.
If not for the problems I've had with build, I'd probably give them 5 stars. The build problems would knock it down to 1 or 2 stars, but Bose's strong support buoys it at three stars. I can't really recommend a product that has broken so much for me, but when it does work I do like it.
You still here the cars and stuff from everyday life quite a bit. Coming from Bose, I think I would have expected a little more when it comes to get noise cancelling because they know what they're doing. Also I do not think of the battery life is very long at all. and it doesn't charge up very quick. Overall I have to say that these are pretty amazing headphone though. The sound quality is pretty clear and with the simplicity of using, it definitely fall in the category of my top three headphones. Even through on my workouts they stay in way more than any other pair that I've ever owned. Aside from the lack of noise cancellation I spoke of before, my only other complaint would be the bulkiness. The appeal of the headphones themselves is not very good. They're extremely bulky. So bulky to the point that if I didn't love my music so much and it wasn't such a necessity for several parts of my daily routine, I would be way too insecure to wear those are in public for the way that they look sticking out of my ears. Also the size is another thing that is a bit deceiving and would make you think that they are top notch in sound quality, noise cancellation and everything. So for these few reasons I only get four stars instead of five. But like I said I have to say they are definitely my top three favorite pairs I I have owned
