Hi there, recently less lights light up on my remote. Some of the buttons i need did not lit. Previously when i first got it, all six sources buttons would light up and the one that i click on will turn blue and all other colorful buttons will also light up. Recently, only the TV and the Bluetooth buttons and a few other white buttons would light up. the numbers and the coloured ones and the TV Source buttons are dark. Is there a problem with my remote?
The Apple TV touch pad controller was a pain. Either too sensitive or not sensitive enough, often dropped because of how small and smooth it is. The Bose Universal Remote has been a welcome upgrade. It even has the ability to slow motion play shows, though I haven’t learned how to invoke on demand (I accidentally invoke). I never have to worry about anything being in the way of the receiver. Additionally, it has a nice design and feel. If anyone knows how to invoke the slow motion play on the Apple TV, please comment. Thank you!
Where is the universal remote troubleshooting shooting guide! Remote has been working perfectly for 4 months...for no reason it no longer lights up on picking it up..you have to touch it hopefully pressing the correct spot (as its black with nothing showing) and nowhere can I find any help...very frustrating Would have given a 5 star rating other than this issue
Control came with the SB700. Initially I did not find where to configure it inside the bose app. Once I did I found that using the “advanced setup” feature by entering the device model number works like a charm and much better than the basic trial and error feature. I setup TV, xbox and tv receiver in no time and it works like a charm with full features.
Bought the 700 soundbar and I’m seriously considering returning it! System isn’t playing sound from my Samsung TV via HDMI, and I refuse to go backwards an use an optical cable. Shouldn’t be this difficult. Very disappointed with this aspect of a Bose product. The only pro so far... Playing music via BT, the sound is PHENOMENAL!! I’ll give customer support a chance Monday, if issues exist , I’m returning the system. Update coming 1 July 19.
Such a shame, this is such a premium remote but the fact that the timing of the back lights can’t be adjusted makes it unusable. They claim it stays on for three seconds, but I can assure you it is not nearly long enough and will drive you absolutely nuts.
Constantly pairing as the remote unpairs iteself. Now it doesnt light up and we shake and nothing...have to press a button to see what we need to click....not sure how to get it to light up with us shaking it. We have only have the system for 4 month and the remote is a constant issue.
Set up the universal remote that came with my sound bar and it took five minutes to get my TV (LG), cable box (Comcast), and Blu-Ray (Sony) player set up. None of which were made this decade. Never had a universal remote actually work with all my stuff. Couldn’t be happier.
This remote came with my sound bar and it only works some of the time. Sending the signal from the remote to the sound bar to the tv or cable box is poor design. Sometimes the signal gets to my cable box sometimes it doesn’t. Instead of it replacing my remote it’s just another remote to add to the pile.
Although the remote works just fine if your setup fits Bose expectations of your TV setup, it does not at all in any other circumstance. In my case, I bought the Soundbar 700 for a home cinema setup with a projector. This means that the Soundbar sits behind the screen, which is sound-transparent. However, it is nit infrared transparent. And since the remote does not blast IR, but instead connects to the Soundbar via Bluetooth, and then the Soundbar does the IR blast, it means that none of my devices (all on the other side of the screen) ever get the IR signal from the Soundbar, making this universal remote completely useless. I didn't buy it extra, so I'm not too disappointed, but it still baffles me that they didn't add the IR blaster to the remote itself.
While I'm not new to Bose products, I am new to the world of their remotes. The Universal Remote configured perfectly the first time from the Bose Music App and after testing, switching devices, etc. all works well with the exception of TV volume, but who needs that with a 700 Series Soundbar!! It would be nice if you could adjust the backlight time on the remote or at least leave it on longer. It would also be nice if it came with a manual or if the Soundbar 700 referenced how to find the manual.
I purchased the Bose universal remote for my Bose Soundbar 500 as that remote was very limiting. I was very skeptical due to all of the negative reviews but I took a chance. I have a 2019 Samsung 6 series 4k tv and an Apple 4k tv plus a Xbox One X. The remote paired to all of the devices and works very well with all of them. I would have given this a 4.5 stars. The reason for the deduction is the backlight does not stay on long. Since this remote is setup via the app you should be able to control how long the backlighting stays on. Hopefully there could be an update for that otherwise I personally like the extra weight of the remote and the feel and look.
Like the new design but after 6 months using it I am still having to continually shake it to refresh the backlighting of buttons. It is highly annoying for everyone to use. I hope there is a fix coming soon to this otherwise very nice remote.
This remote is well weighted and has proper tactile features to allow me to use it without looking at it. Connects via RF (instead of IR) so I don't need to be pointing it at the Soundbar or TV. Only the buttons that are in use will light up, and only the functions that are programmed are shown. No confusion.
The universal remote that came with the sound bar 700 is very unresponsive. You have to push the buttons several times before they respond. This is very frustrating. Also the lights don’t stay on long enough.
There is no option to go “back” while browsing the TV. This means you either have to revert to the TV remote control, or exit applications all-together and navigate back to where you want to be (which could be avoided if the ‘back’ function worked) which is extremely annoying.
Bought this system 2 days ago, put it together last night and it seemed to work fine with a few issues with the remote. Today the remote just plain doesn't work, wont pair or talk to the soundbar at all. Very poor from Bose, the quality should be better and for this price other inputs should be available for playing music other than the basic lowest quality Bluetooth. Over it before I get started. Bose have advised the whole soundbar requires replacement, I may just ask for my money back and buy something else with more modern options for inputs/ outputs and HDMI. My advice is don't buy this soundbar if your a traditional Bose customer, it will probably disappoint you with the poor quality audio.
My remote came with my Soundbar 700. I followed the quick start guide on this web page and used the Bose Music app to set up my Samsung TV, AT&T Cable box and AppleTV. All three devices function well using the Universal remote.
This remote is difficult to use for a variety of reasons. The buttons do not stay lit long enough for the operator to identify which button they should push -- especially during the long learning curve. Also, the amount of pressure to apply in order to get a button to respond varies from moment to moment. You can push the right arrow hard and it won't respond, so you push it again and it jumps to the right three times -- very frustrating. It makes navigating menus and alphabet pads impossible. Also, the remote did not come with an instructions -- other than the instructions on how to pair it. I'm still experimenting to try and figure out what the icons on the remote stand for. Bose needs to re-engineer this remote and let me know when it does.
I bought this remote along with the Bose 700 sound bar and sub woofer and find the device to be hard to operate with one hand since there are no buttons I cannot feel the correct buttons to press while watching a movie or the TV and have to look at the device every time I need to interract with the system and the light doesn't stay on long enough to find the correct buttons to press even with the lights on or sunlight beaming in through windows .Very dissatisfied . Would like to purchase a different remote if compatible.
Just bought this remote. It refuses to pair to the soundbar constantly blinks all the symbols, tried rebooting it nothing works. Took the batteries out and that still didn't stop it from blinking. Definitely sending it back..
We got this remote when we bought the bose 700 sound bar. I am trying to get it to change the channel on my Xfinity wireless cable box. When i try and set it up through the app it says no device can be found
Can I use with Solo 5 soundbar? My old universal remote is great, TV, blue ray, apple tv only with this remote and no problem, but I'd like backlight all buttons. Is the new BOSE Soundbar Universal Remote compatible with Bose Solo 5 or only with 700 and 500 soundbars?
After reading all the bad reviews I thought this was a bad product. It didn't work for me also, only the sound bar tv power. Decided to sit down with it and against all odds I got to work for my tv and Playstation. The online help is poor at best. It was of no help to me. This remote should be this hard to set up. But if you can get it working it works great. Also wish the app screen could be displayed on the tv.
Bought the sound bar to go with our Insignia ROKU tv. The codes for insignia do not work, because it is a smart tv with apps not channels. And the ROKU codes don’t work because it is ROKU built in and not a ROKU device attached. The only thing we can use this remote for is the sound bar itself. I wish there were an app for this then I could have all my devices on my phone instead of keeping up with remotes that only work for one thing. The speaker itself is phenomenal and sounds great. It is exactly what we were looking for. I wish the remote were better.
Terrible as just does not work with Panasonic TVs. Instructions hopeless. Typed in model number and could find nothing. Useless piece of junk and it lights up the web with not working and no help from Bose
I was able to connect this to my TV. However, I cannot get either my Roku or DVD player to connect. In both cases, after a series of codes fail to work, it asks me for the model number of my TV, which is VO37L HDTV10A. Bose has never heard of it. I tried many different variations, including swapping 0's for O's, different capitalizations, and adding or subtracting the space. Didn't matter.
I bought the soundbar 700 and the remote came with it. Was hopping that this control would deliver what it claimed, "replace all controls". Well, it failed to deliver that promise. It can't control the xfinity DVR box or my Xbox. I would have been happy with just being able to turn on and off the xbox, as I have the xfinity connected to it, not even that. But failing to control the cable box is just ridiculous.
The remote backlight turns off too quicky that using it to do anything is impossible. The only way I found out that you cant change this is from reading all the reviews online (that you are clearly not responding to).
Initial setup went well, with the exception of extremely slow responses. Then, remote wouldn’t respond at all. Customer service help for lien 2 hours and little improvement. After a couple of days, all went perfect, as if the remote needed time to “learn” the devices. Then, had to unplug the sound bar and all syncing to the directv box was gone. Now, it won’t sync at all with the box. So, reset the remote, now, it won’t even sync with the sound bar (sound bar 500). I love the design of the remote, but at this point, would trade in the design plus for a universal remote that actually worked.
The folks who designed this clearly failed to watch people of all generations use this. The lighted keys are nice but the back lights are on for microseconds. Or you need to shake it and read it concurrently. I looked for a setting to increase the time that they are backlit. Nope. The buttons don’t give a lot of tactile feedback like other remotes. And you have to learn some new icons. Wish they could provide this capability over a Smartphone app. Why not add an IR transmitter to the sound bar so it could operate Bluetooth from remote to sound bar, then IR from sound bar to TV and cable box
I can’t get this remote to control my cable box even though the last model of their universal remote did. I bought a new Samsung TV and this remote only controls some functions but not others, you can scroll right through the inputs menu but not left. It will not activate the play function on my 4K Samsung Blu-ray player. Despite the groovy lights, it’s not as good as their last universal remote.
I had several issues overall however with remote, it is very difficult to find information to troubleshoot this device or even worst you don't have information to configure your device and this is not a cheap product, I hope they read and understand the difficulties users writing here are having.
Been a Bose User and Fan for over 20+ Years, this remote is an insult to the word Universal Remote and to the Bose Name
Purchased the 700 Soundbar system and this remote came with it, Why would you design a Remote thats bulky, heavy and absolutely useless, the Apple TV's remote does a phenomenal job as compared to this remote, it does injustice to your still a good product the Soundbar 700
Is Innovation dead at Bose, have you stopped testing your products before you release them to market ?
Do yourselves a favor and dump this remote and build one as sleek as the Apple Remote with a touch interface, no wonder everyone is eating into your market while you continue to become complacent
