I invested in this device to control wind noise while riding my motorcycle. The ear plugs I used were just not getting the job done. As soon as I got on the interstate, I realized that this was a great investment. They fit inside my helmet and dull the roar of wind over the surfaces. This exponentially improved ride quality.

I really needed this not to just listen to music but to block out my noisy neighbours. and OMG it works AND I'm getting the best sleep

I bought my first pair of these about 5 years ago. I recently got a second (replacement pair) since I wore the heck out of these. I drive a bus for hours a day with loud people. Even with 1 earbud in, the quality is great. I love these things. I've considered moving to a Bluetooth pair but I love that the battery can go dead and the music keeps playing. I also don't have to deal with connection issues, and i can also charge while istening to music. Win, win!

I bought these as my no Bluetooth highly acclaimed and praised noise cancelling solution. I was seriously disappointed. Not only did it take me close to an hour to find the right seal (and I eventually did), the noise cancellation was pathetic. I have an MPOW pair of 29db noise isolating headphones that do a WAY better job of blocking out noise. Not to compare buds to phones, the over the ear is a thousand times better. Everyone praises the noise isolation on these, but I could hear almost everything except a refrigerator, and that was mostly due to the seal on the ear. A couple of earplugs from your local pharmacy is a lot better price option, than sporting $200 on a bunch of buds that are quite uncomfortable and do a pathetic job of noise cancelling. Not even close to the advertising and yes I had the seal correct. Save yourself some money and look elsewhere for noise cancelling solutions.

The QuietComfort 20's are the best noise canceling earbuds I've ever owned. I used them heavily during periods of frequent international travel, and they make plane rides significantly more pleasurable. The battery lasts a very long time, the noise cancelling is good, the ear inserts are the most comfortable I've ever used, and it all comes with a soft case. I only have two minor complaints. First, the toggle button on the controller broke for me, so I could not switch between noise canceling and non noise canceling without reaching into my pocket to flip the switch. Secondly, it was always tricky to get the battery and headphone jack to sit nicely with my phone in my pocket. The best way was with the jack pointing straight down, forcing it to absorb pressure from the phone in many cases. Otherwise, I'd recommend this product to everyone.

I purchased this product 30 days ago. What an amazing sound and great comfort fitting style.

I have the Android version of the QC20 and love them! The sound quality is spectacular and a treat to my audiophile hearing. I enjoy listening to my legacy recording and hearing sounds and instruments that I wasn't aware was there all these years. The earbuds are super comfortable and stay in place during my run or bike ride. I also use the QC20 as sound reduction when I mow the lawn. I can barely hear the lawnmower when I have music on. Buy these and you won't be disappointed.

I've had my QC 20 headphones for about 2.5 years and I love the sound and noise cancelling aspect, unfortunately the aux cable has ripped at the 90 degree bend, even though I've been careful with them, definitely a weak point and disappointing, for the price I'd expect them to be more durable. The cover is also peeling off the battery but not overly worried about that.

I thought Bose was supposed to be a great company that backed up that backed up their product. I bought these headphones for the 3 or 4 times per year that I travel.They are older, but used seldom due to what they were purchased for. The male adapter bent and now the headphones can no longer be used. I called for repair because they are expensive and in fine working order otherwise. They are out of warranty and they DO NOT repair, but oh of course you can replace them with another pair...Ugh! Never again Bose!

I bought these back in December after Bose recalled their sleepbuds. After testing over $1000 on various anti snoring solutions, these turned out to be the best. I plug them into an old phone (airplane mode) running a white noise app and put them both in a fabric workout belt so they stay with me if I turn over. Between the ANC and low-volume white noise, I can't hear any snoring. The only environmental sounds that get through are one-off high-frequency sounds which ANC can't do much about. With 16 hours of battery life, they cover me for two nights.

I have two bits of constructive feedback.
1) The mic picks up outside wind very easily on phone calls
2) I have read reviews about the aux cable ripping at the 90 degree bend. As such, I never let the ANC box free hang, which can make it awkward to use since I feel I must hold it at all times. Perhaps I'm being paranoid though.

About the QC20's over 3 years ago. I've had nothing but great sound experience from these headphones! The noise canceling headphones really make my long walks more enjoyable! 16 mile walks are not long walks but, enjoyable journeys! I am eagerly awaiting QC20 in wireless version. Love my bose!!!

I've had a pair of these for three years - with heavy use. I saw a review criticizing the build and wanted to say 1) mine have handled a lot of use and abuse, 2) the battery life is still good, and 3) I recently, accidentally, put these through a full washing machine cycle (over an hour! - fully immersed, spin etc). Figured it was a write-off but put it in a bad of rice for two days (to dry it out) - and to my amazement it works just as well as before! Not that I recommend this practice - but that's a quality product!

Let me just point this out. They market a product at Android/Samsung but include a 3.5mm jack and a 'micro' USB Cable. That's very poor for a product of this value, it should have USB-C connectivity or market it correctly.

Worked well for 3-4 Years but when battery dies, there is no way as per Bose service center that it can be replaced. Feeling cheated. A device with battery without battery replacement is of no use. So life of this ear phone is equal to life of bettery.

I bought this headphones in Nov 2016. Noise cancelling technology is amazing, I still am surprised so small in ear headphones reduces external noises.

I bought this on December 10th, It developed a short at the base of the cord, Bose says it is out of warranty already on January 2th. I own lots of Bose items and this is poor service.

I owned these headphones for over two years now. They are wonderful while they work. The battery life is great. The sound is very good. The Noise canceling is excellent. The major problem is that the wires fail right around the two years of light use. Therefore, if you are willing to spend $125 per year for NC headphones, these are an option. Unfortunately, I feel like $250 headphones should last at least half a decade to make sense or they should be designed to be easily serviceable. Instead, they seem to be designed to fail just after the warranty period.

These headphones were my first foray into noise cancelling the first time I hit that switch, I knew there was no going back. The noise cancelling on this headphones is sweet and super comfortable ear buds. For use in the office and gym, there are second to none. The design is awful however, the noise cancelling panel thing is too close to the jack so it either hangs out of my pocket or clumps into my pocket so when I pull out my phone, it gets disconnected. However, I could deal with that but what broke my noise cancelling heart was it does not deal with big bumps typical on a plane landing or a bus. Every jolt sends this painful popping in the ears that ruins the whole experience. In the end, I couldn't use the noise cancelling on public transport which was a bit part of why I wanted them, so I ended up giving up on these headphones.

I've had then for 2 years now. Perfect for long haul flights and lie flat side sleeping. Great charging and works on all my flight needs and superb private crystal clear conversation on my android phone even in busy airports.

I just purchased these noise cancelling head phones and they are great. It is the most comfortable in ear phones I have ever had. You forget they are in your ear. Also the battery is so lightweight that you forget you have a battery attached to your cord

On the plus side it didn’t everything imaginable to work up to my expectations of the products. But on the down side, it’s kind of fragile and it’s starting to fall apart which is a bummer.

I bought them over 2 years ago and they are perfect for travel. In the plane on noise canceling only they can mask the child crying in the seat behind me or the drone of the engines. An unplanned benefit was how much better I can hear movies on the flight with a simple plug in. Moving back into the office on noise canceling I can use them to cancel the office conversations without any music. People think I am listening to music but I am just enjoying the quiet. Thanks Bose

I bought this in Nov 2017. It started to fail almost immediately after the warranty period expired.
Useless product and terrible "support".
Great for a short period of time, but terrible for extended use.
I've since purchased a number of other brands and am very happy with the results.
Very disappointed with the BOSE brand. It's fallen a long way from it's origins.

I have had this product since July 2017. At first, I liked the noise canceling which worked incredible but that feature is noticeably undermined after 2 years of use. Also, when the noise cancelling is off it allows noise to interrupt more easily than my 50 dollars cheap headphone does. For this price range, the product should be more durable and the life span should be longer. People invest this much money for a set of heaphone for not only quality but also longer use of the product.

I bought these three years ago and they're still working perfectly! I haven't experienced any issues with the cords or the sound quality (both of which are fantastic). Every year I end up taking several long flights (12+ hours), and these are always a must. They make planes much more comfortable and quiet. The only negative about these headphones is that the noise cancelling is good enough that I don't always hear when someone is verbally trying to get my attention - but that's a pretty good trade off to me! There's also a notable difference when I turn the noise cancelling function on, even when there's no music playing. Overall, I highly recommend these headphones.

I have had two pairs of these headphones and I love them for travel and work - I would give them 5 stars if they were more durable. Just under a year after I bought my first pair, one of the ear buds stopped working - if I moved the wire a certain way it would connect but the majority of the time no sound would come out of that one side. Bose was able to replace those due to this issue and falling into the first year. However, the replacement pair had the same issue about 2-years down the line. I called and they are no longer covered and was told the experience was not a common issue but given I've only had two pairs and had the exact same issue in both, I'm hesitant to purchase a replacement pair.

Otherwise, when they work, I found them to have good sound quality and comfortable to wear for long periods of time (I've used them on 12+ hour flights with no issues). The thin rubber wrapper along the battery pack peeled off on both pairs at some point but that's just a minor cosmetic issue.

Overall, I gave these a 3-star rating because they're great when they work but its painful when they stop working. I would recommend only if you're willing to replace after 1-2 years at their current price.

I've been wearing these for a couple of years now, 2-3 long haul flights per year.
While I enjoy the comfort and the background noise cancellation I really do not like the loud pop when they are powered on or off. The battery life is a bit low for Australia to Europe flights but can be overcome with a power bank. On my wish list is an analogue volume control on the control box. I have used other noise cancelling headphones including SONY and Audio Technics are they do not pop at all when powered on or off.

My Favorite . Have been using for two years and never saw any issues. The wires are very strong and do not mingle or mix up. Noise cancellation is perfect.

Sadly, I couldn't get the ear buds to fit. The medium sized buds hurt my ear canal and the little hook shaped dealy on the small ones wasn't big enough to hold the bud in place. Noise cancellation was fantastic though when I wore with the medium buds. If only there was a bud that fit a small ear canal but a regular sided ear.

I chose the in-ear style as I have a large head. I wanted noise-cancelling to eliminate airplane engine noise when flying and found the QC20 are very good at doing so. Music listening is great from hard rock to classical. They work quite well for phone call use. They are very good for reducing noise in the open office environment. Never had a problem with mine for 4 years until losing them in a airport concourse. Bought another set this morning ahead my next plane flight.

bought almost exactly a year ago, bought for travelling, flying a lot, worked great sound fantastic, but then almost a year , they stopped charging, took them with receipt to bose shop in dubai where to to put it basically they didnt wnt to know nd suggested i could try buying another battery from an electronic store and fitting it. the same guy then suggested i just buy another pair!! no thanks

I have been using Bose noise cancelling headphones for years, but had previously used over the head versions. My boss recommended this model to me. These are light, stay in place, and cancel the noise from my office mates. Plus, they allow me to easily answer the phone. I have had these for about six months, and I can honestly say that they are now my favorite headphones.

I hate noisy flights. About 5 years ago I bought a pair of QC15s and for a long time was very pleased only disappointment was the QC15s are a little bulky when travelling hand luggage only. Then the QC15s gave trouble (know design fault causing one speaker to frequently go silent). Feeling a little miffed and not keen on giving Bose e299 I came across a pair of used QC20s and decided to give them a try.
Boy was that a good day :-) just as effective as the QC15s but smaller and they still play audio after battery dies (a gripe with QC15s). Added bonus I can use the QC20s under a motorcycle helmet.
Aside for niggles over the cost if you buy new I have zero issues recommending the QC20s to anyone who is over 30, a frequent flyer or train user and who might ride a motorcycle.

I have been using Bose with many models over "10yrs",many different models and now I am listening to qc30,with a comparison with average headphones these have a much more clear sound

I bought my QC20 earphones over 6 years ago to drown out the noise of the office and for air travel. Flying from Australia to the US every year and back, they are such a pleasure. You don't hear the jet engines, babies crying and loud passengers. It's a 14 hour flight between countries and the batteries consistently last the full distance. Every day I go to a cafe for coffee and with the QC20 you don't hear people talking or the making of coffee. The biggest hearing protection is that you don't have to turn up the volume to overcome the background noise. One commenter on this site complained of poor quality construction. I don't know how they looked after theirs but mine look almost new. When the batteries eventually give in I will most definitely by another set.

I bought these headphones 1 hour ago and it having an issue when i turn on noise cancelling. What happens is i hear a static like noise no matter if music is on or off.

I purchased these about two years ago, the sounds is amazing! The only con is that they are built with poor quality in mind. The volume control and mic buttons are so sensitive to the touch, just the minutest touch will cause my music to pause, or volume level to go up/down. Also the rubber covering on the battery case is peeling off and the case itself is splitting open. I purchased these from a 3rd party retailer QVC, and they did nothing to help me, nor did Bose when I contacted them directly. Now I am starting to hear a crackling noise every time I use them.I use these on average of about 1 or 2 times per week for maybe 2 hours at the most, so the issue of wear and tear is means nothing. If I am going to pay almost $300 for a set of headphones, I expect them to last more than just a few years. Oh, did I mention that I only get about1 hr of listening time with the battery, so now my battery is going caput.

I bought these in a resale electronics store and was a little skeptical but no more. They are amazing. I LOVE them. They block the noise around you and on airplanes they help me relax blocking all that air noise. Even though mine were used, I have kept them in the case when not in use and they still perform like new every time I take them out. Bose knocked it out of the park with these.

I bought these 4 years ago for work. I create closed captions for live television news, live sporting events on television and sports arenas and many other types of live events for a national captioning company based in the United States. I wear my earbuds 5-6 days a week for 6-8 hours a day on average. It is critical that I hear what the people speaking on my live events are saying clearly so that I caption the person speaking correctly. These earbuds have held up beautifully, especially considering the extensive use! I recently purchased a second pair so that I have a "back up" if needed. I contacted customer service today with a few questions and they were so friendly and helpful! I own other Bose products and will most definitely purchase more in the future!

I bought these headphones (Android) and the airplane adapter two years ago, primarily for long airplane trips. The noise-cancelling features enhance the ability to hear movies and music. When turned on (but not plugged into any devices) the headphones create almost perfect silence. I slip the small battery unit and cord into a chest pocket and get great sleep on the plane. I'm using them now for work to cancel out the noise from a major building construction project across from my office. Great headphones if treated carefully.

Bought these to allow me to work in peace in a busy office. And when other reviews talk about turning on noise-cancelling and getting silence, they are not exaggerating. They are bloody brilliant. Working in the office is heaven, flights and public transport are no longer a riot on the sense. Calm has descended.
My only issue is that I have now had my set for just less than 2 years (this may be a record). I have used Sugru to support all weak points and they have withstood daily usage brilliantly. However, to remove an ear bud I hold the cable below the ear bud and pull it out and I think this is what resulted in violent whistling in that ear bud during removal because some wiring has been loosened. Today the ear bud (the body not the wing tip) fell open and whined continuously. I make have killed it finally.
The ear buds (via the wing tips) stay in my ears really well, and rarely need adjusting. This means they can be difficult to take out, hence my use of the cable to pull them out. But this has weakened the wiring. So, let that be a lesson to you. If you love your Quiet Comfort ear buds, don't use the cable to take them out and they will last for years.

I bought these primarily for the noise cancelling feature and they do not diasppoint. For in-ear headphonones the noise cancelling is very good indeed. They don't block all sound but they are not supposed to. The "aware"mode is very handy too. I agree with previous reviews that although the case is well made it is a little on the small side and you worry about bending the cables that go into the noise cancelling/battery module. The sound delivery is very good but you expect this with Bose.
My only negative is this: At both ends of the battery module there are two little panels on either side of the cables that enter the module. Two of these came off within the first few weeks. Probably a glue issue but a little disappointing.
So noise cancelling and sound very good, build quality not so but happy with purchase and would recommend.

My wife bought me these as a present. I have had my pair for a little over 4 years. I am now buying my wife a pair so she can leave mine alone. The only thing I wish they had would be a better color selection for android models.

I have a severe case of Misophonia and my wife bought me a pair of these last year.
It's helped me step out from the seclusion that's been forced upon me.
My wife and I can eat at the same table again.
Long flights are much more tolerable, especially when people are eating or drinking next to me.
Noises in my apartment and hotel can be cancelled out (for the most part).
I highly recommend getting a pair of these if you suffer from this condition.

I bought a pair of these a few years ago. They provided excellent sound and noise reduction. Eventually, the wires frayed. I could still use them with the wires taped but it was inconvenient. I called Bose and was offered a replacement "upgraded" pair for a reasonable price. This was a newer model (or at least had different colored wires). The sound quality was good but the noise cancellation was inferior compared to the old one. On airplanes the old one blocked most of the background sound. The new upgrade blocks very little. I tried it on 3 different flights and tested all of the silicon eartips. I won't be using these anymore. After a long but polite call, Bose offered me a refund, which I appreciate but I would really rather have my old QC20 back, sigh...

I am really hoping it lasts. Noise cancelling is great - finally peace and quiet. Insanely comfortable

Now that there are volume control buttons, I can no longer use this on both my iPod nano and my Android phone. This all worked well on the earlier model, which is no longer available.

I got this as a gift, and I love it. I had it for many years. I fly weekly, and i always have it with me. Absolutely great in noisy environments. After a few years the rubber coating starts to come off, and I see that the wires are getting messed up, but so far it works great. I wish it would come with USB C type charger, so I would not have to carry a cable just for this.
