The most popular outdoor speakers from Bose now offer a new level of music enjoyment in the “outdoor room” of your home. The Bose 151 SE environmental speaker system features Stereo Everywhere speaker performance. This lifelike sound quality, available only from Bose, disperses balanced stereo sound over a wide listening area – instead of in a small “sweet spot” – to better complement the way we listen outdoors. Working around the yard or in the midst of a party, people are on the move outdoors…from one corner of the deck to the other, around the patio or garden, in the yard or pool.
151 SE speakers are engineered to maintain consistent stereo performance as people move from place to place. Smaller, contoured styling blends in effectively with eaves, clapboards, decks and roofs for placement either vertically or horizontally. Slot-port tuning provides deep low-note performance that remains clean, even at high volumes. The 151 SE speakers are built to withstand severe weather from frigid cold to searing heat – temperatures as extreme as -40º F (-40º C) to 158º F (70º C) plus salt fog, sun, high humidity, rain and snow. They are backed by a comprehensive five-year warranty. For clear, far-reaching stereo sound outdoors from speakers that blend into their surroundings and are built to last, experience the new 151 SE environmental speakers from Bose, the most respected name in sound.
Bose 151 SE Environmental Speaker System Features:
Three 21⁄2" full-range environmental drivers in an Articulated Array speaker design provide a consistent sound field over a larger listening area than possible with conventional designs.
Slot-port tuning reduces air turbulence for cleaner and deeper reproduction of music’s lower notes – particularly at high volumes – from a low-profile enclosure.
21⁄2" full-range, glass-filled speaker cone delivers reliable, high-quality sound reproduction across all audible frequencies even under extreme temperature and weather conditions.
Glass-filled polypropylene cabinet provides added yearlong protection against weather extremes.
Adjustable weather-resistant brackets provide secure installation to most surfaces, and allow the user to direct the speaker for optimum coverage outdoors, indoors and in marine environments.
Engineered and tested to withstand snow, rain, salt and temperature extremes of -40º F (-40º C) to 158º F (70º C).
Withstood 1,200 hours of salt fog testing – twice the demanding Marine Industry Standard.
Syncom computer testing of drivers contributes to a high level of quality and reliability.
Rated at 50 watts IEC continuous power handling. Compatible with amplifiers or receivers rated from 10 to 100 watts per channel RMS and 4 to 8 ohms.

Customer Reviews for Bose 151 SE Environmental Speaker System - Pair
I just replaced the original Bose 151 speakers after 8 years. They served me well so I stuck with the 151 series and bought these. I am not disappointed. I mounted these in the same spots as the previous speakers and the sound radiates so much more With the previous speakers there really was only one sweet spot for listening to music. Now we can be sitting anywhere within the angle of the speakers. The clarity is incredible. I think it is important to note that if you are looking for a deep, thumping base or to listen at high volumes, these are not the speakers for you. They sound great and they do have a nice bottom end but nothing you are going to use for dance music etc. If you are looking for an enjoyable listening experience at volumes below "blasting" I don't think you can go wrong with these. (One quick note about installation...it is very straight forward and there is nothing complicated about the process. Just make sure you place the part of the mounting bracket that attaches to the speaker the correct way. It is an easily correctable error but if if is put in backwards, the speaker wire connectors will prevent the bracket from attaching to the mounting bracket that is screwed to the wall.)
I've had my 151's for about 3 years now. I live in Las Vegas, while just about everything else I have purchased (patio chairs, solar lighting, umbrellas, BBQ pits) that is outdoors have suffered the effects of the desert sun in the summer and had to be replaced. Not the Bose 151's and they sound quality is incredible. I've been tempted to bring them inside because they sound a lot better then my non Bose speakers in my house. Great job Bose!
Wonderful sound after 10 years of outdoor exposure
So, I bought these immediately from Bose, when I walked into the store. The speaker was sitting in a tub of water. They pulled the speaker out, shook it off, and wired it up. Sounded fine. I bought a pair, mounted under eve of roof, and 10 years later , they still sound like brand new. This review is for the older Square units, but they are still the 151 series..
We bought the 151’s twelve years ago to mount in the cockpit of our sailboat. Sorry Bose, but I removed every bit of exterior information indicating they were Bose. They spend too much time without me there to keep them from “disappearing.” And the name “Bose” would be enough to attract. I carefully direct wired them with 18 gauge shielded cable to a 200 watt automobile stereo system in the cabin and haven’t taken them out of the rain for 12 years. The sound is amazing. I wanted a speaker system that I could mount higher on the sailboat stantions to avoid the “boominess” that goes with speakers mounted in the walls of the cockpit. Sound is clean and accurate for anyone in the cockpit.
Brilliant speakers with a clear crisp directional sound. Had them on load and as they are directional I asked the neighbours if they were disturbed by the volume...couldn't hear it! Love them...will be soon getting another pair for the other side of the house!
I have had these speaker for the last 6 to 7 years. They have survived harsh sask winters and have worked great since the day I bought them. They are great in town as the aren't overly bassy and have great clear crisp sound. I would recommended these to anyone looking for a great outdoor speaker at a reasonable price!
I have had my 151 speakers on the wall outside over our patio for the last 8 years, still going strong. great sound, very clear, good base for the size. would replace with the same. Driven with a Bose SA2 amp linked to a Sonos unit.
I bought my 151's about 15 years ago and I have NEVER taken them down for the winter. They sit under the eave of my garage roof, relatively protected from the weather and they sound as good today as they did when I hooked them up. I am proud to have 4 different Bose systems / speakers in my house and I do not go anywhere without my noise cancelling headphones either. This is the first review I have ever written, btw
I have had these speakers for 6 years. Never once have I taken them down for winter and they work perfect. at low volumes they don't boom bass so you can listen to all night however you can crank them up and get great sound and bass from them. Bose makes a great long lasting product for a great price.
I purchased these speakers to go outside next to my deck, I have them wired up to a Yamaha Airplay amplifier, I wanted a nice looking speaker which blended in to the environment, which they do, they are mounted under the eves of my garage and blend in well, I also liked the idea of the array, as the sound is dispersed evenly around the area, again this is done well. Where the speakers really fall short is the quality of the sound, they don't have any high or low end at all, I can only describe the sound as if it came out an old fashioned radio, or the sound you would expect from a basic 1980,s car radio, no depth to the music and very little clarity, this is my first Bose product and I afraid to say I am disappointed.
