Better than expected
First, I plugged the green cable into the green socket and attached the other end to my receiver's input; this was so unbelievably noisy I could not take it. I examined the situation and discovered the green socket was input, so I move the green plug to the black socket line out. I don't think I am missing a cable. I got it hooked up and running, and I could hear how bad my Yamaha receiver was. I hook it up to my schiit Asgard headphone amp, and it sounded excellent. I was worried that your DAC would not be as good as the Modi or other $100 dacs I have around the house, but it does. I was looking for a DAC amp combination to run my Koss KPH30iCL, inexpensive headphones with great sound potential. I order a Magni headphone amp for those and thought I would give your streamer a try. I am happy I did.

Unexpectedly Great
The lightweight plastic housing did not inspire confidence. so my expectations were limited, but then after hookup, expectations were sonically exceeded in every way. I compared streaming hi res files from a computer, over WiFi through the Songbird, to a direct connection through a Dragonfly Red. To my amazement the songbird bettered the Dragonfly with a more natural lifelike presentation with more space between the performers and a sweet well rounded timbre. I have never heard Spotify sound better either. I normally only use Spotify for music discovery and then buy the music I like at higher resolution, but the Songbird is making me re-think that approach. The Songbird is a perfect and inexpensive way to update a vintage system with streaming, and offers a remote volume control through the phone app, which is great for an older system with no remote, and thanks to the volume control ,it may also be connected directly to a power amp. I tried a old NAD 214 power amp and Infinity Kappa 6.1 speakers for what I thought was a quick test with an old system, and got seduced into listening to music on that setup for hours. The songbird is just one of those singular unique audio values that is worth trying before buying something else at 10x the price because you might find it's all you need.

Good streamer for the price.
Would be even better if high resolution content wasn't down sampled to 16b/44 1 on the digital audio output.

Beyond Amazing
I've never written an online review for an audio purchase before. Until now.

I received my Andover Songbird two days ago and have been completely astounded. I now doubt that I will be playing music from other sources. The Songbird is that good.

I primarily stream Amazon Music HD on the Songbird to my McIntosh MA252 amp and McIntosh speakers and subs. The clarity depth and soundstage of the Songbird makes my McIntosh gear shine like never before. I can't stop listening to it. I've become addicted!

I have the easy to use Songbird app installed on an Android phone and an Android tablet and have found that the app draws very little battery and consumes minimal system overhead.

I also discovered that the Songbird will continue to keep on playing a stream if you want - even if the Android devices are powered off.

This device is a steal! Buy one immediately for the $129 before word gets out. You will not regret it.

Only Partially Works
I purchased the songbird in early December to run free classical FM stations sourced through the internet via a browser on my Windows PC and transmitted to my older stereo system via WiFi. According to the documentation, it should have been possible. It was not. When Andover tech support investigated, they found that Microsoft had changed its networking routines such that they no longer supported my use. I returned it for a refund. I hope they can solve the problem, and if they can, I will purchase it again. It played services through my phone, but nothing through a PC browser.

Great Value
Most other audio streamers start at $500 and go up from there. Sound quality on this compares nicely against my CD player. Can't say how it does against other streamers. But for just $125 it gets the job done!

Works Great
Easy to set up. Easy to connect to wifi. I can play Tidal or Spotify via the Songbird app. I would recommend to anyone who wants to stream music via wifi rather than bluetooth.

Awesome little device
Just got my Songbird and it is awesome. I replaced a cheap streamer from Dayton Audio (like $50) and what a difference. I though I needed a subwoofer and with this the bass is much much better. Easy set up and stay connected with no problem. I have it connected to a mid range Onkyo receiver and very good Bowers and Wilkens speakers and it sounds great. I have tried Jazz, Classical and Rock and all are excellent. Very fast shipping as well, nice job Andover!

Perfect for my needs
I have an older receiver and the songbird is perfect. I bought two and have not yet installed the second. The first one I hooked up via ethernet. It works great. I have also used its bluetooth functionality and am very happy with that feature as well. I like the app and find it very easy to navigate. I have both Qobuz and Spotify and app's integration for each is great. Highly recommended.

Kicks A**
I bought this for my office system. I needed something easy that works. The value for money on the Songbird is insane. It works easily with Tidal, Apple Music and the sound is excellent. I run a more expensive streamer in my main system, and the Songbird competes with it solidly. Highly recommended for anyone that is looking for an inexpensive and super capable streamer. It replaced a Sonos unit that was more expensive and way more of a pain.

Does the app control the services when connected to the ethernet port?
